    Join us as we navigate the challenges and triumphs of building a storage facility in Michigan's unpredictable weather. From dealing with miscommunications and language barriers to making crucial design decisions, we share our experience working with Storage Structures and their Alpha framing system. Discover the hidden fortress design that could have saved us a ton of money on fencing, and explore the reasoning behind our choice of flatter roofs. Learn about the surprising security risk we encountered and the $15,000 decision we had to make as a result. We'll also discuss the necessity of firewalls in steel and concrete buildings and why we opted to remove gutters from our facility. Get an inside look at the entire construction process and gain valuable insights that could help you with your own storage facility project.

    Those firewalls are rendered useless with those gaps at the ceiling. Fire spreads up and out. City engineers at their finest lol. Awesome Video!

      There wasn't a gap between the firewalls and the ceilings, so at least we got that part right. 👍 Thanks for watching!

      The drywall should be tight with the roof deck and fire caulking

    Nice video series!! We have used mostly Trachte buildings for our ground up builds and conversions. They engineer in the rake angles you were talking about as part of their overall structure. This really helps to not only hold the building together, but also provides that extra layer of security between units.

      I learned how Trachte does that after talking with another local facility owner who dealt with a similar issue. Good to know! Thanks for sharing your experience!

      I currently own 2 acres of land out in the country of NC ..I had this idea for awhile about building storage units on it and then all of sudden I came across this vid…where do I start to understand the cost associated ?

      I own storage facility in NC it is good idea if you plan to start on this but the first step is checking with your zoning in your town

    Trachte made sure any gaps at top were closed. I never had to bring it up. They just close all space between units. Maybe the GA company saved money there. Labor and materials and shipping.

      Yeah, it could be. That's good to know about Trachte.

    Without the rake angales. It is better to avoid condensation ??

    • @Retipster
      @Retipster  Месяц назад

      I think it makes a bigger difference in climate controlled facilities. In cold storage (non-climate controlled) facilities like ours, the condensation issue isn’t nearly as important.

      Thanks for watching, Joshua! The original quote was for $534,430. The final price was about $550,000 because we upgraded from a red oxide steel frame to a galvanized one.
