Great video. it's my hometown and I just came back from there after a long, 8 year absence. Now I feel a bit nostalgic, back in Asia.

A really wonderful video showing the very best of Hastings Old Town. I grew up here - you showed my childhood home - and have lived here all my life, 60+ years, and you've really captured the spirit of it. And well done for finding so many 'twittens' (local name for the small passages and alleyways) that even local people haven't explored.

Hi. Excellent video. Beautifully filmed. I was born in Hastings; though I only actually lived there in my twenties. I am nearly 71 now. Hastings was a bit of a dump in those days, not a good reputation. It has much improved over the years. But of course, these streets and houses of the old town were always there to be appreciated. I do not live in England now, so this was a nostalgic trip for me. I will be viewing more of your videos.

I absolutely love Hastings. My Mum lived in the old town for years, up until 2013 when she had to move back to the Midlands for health reasons. I used to love visiting her, we made so many great friends there. My sister and then i moved there in 95 for a couple of years. I loved the pubs in the old town, especially the Adelaide. The pram race, was also great fun. I’ve not been back for 10 years. Thanks for the beautiful video, it bought back so many fond memories ❤

It predates everything that we know of and nobody is quite sure of what this carving is. It was always there. We didn’t film in the caves as it was way too dark for our phones to capture it. But it really is breathtaking to see that the hill where the castle is is full of secret passages under ground

An excellent and informative travel vlog and interesting perspective on the old town of Hastings. An interesting contrast would have been to show the development of the Regency/Victorian seafront over towards St Leonard’s and to also show the modern architecture of the Jerwood Gallery, which imo beautifully reflects the fishing net sheds. We also have a very evocative picture of those net sheds in our house by local artist Andrew Dennis, which we purchased as a memory of our stay.

However as a resident of many years, it is a great town with a huge musical background and bands, artists and authors congregate here. Hi Sabina, thank you for your comment, the best place I found was Webbe's Rock-a-Nore restaurant: seafood platters are amazing there! Oysters are just like those served in Normandy!

Thank you for clarifying: I am really surprised that Hastings is the only place I have seen those net shops in. And yet there are so many fishing villages with nothing like this. Do you know why it’s just Hastings that has those?

Sadly you only concentrated on a small area of the town. Having lived there for many years, its not all nice like that that at all!

To be honest I found the constant pans a little off putting - there are lots of lost opportunities here e.g. the significance of the Battle of Hastings in English history is not covered, instead we hear a few not important facts and figures (not even particularly accurate) about the number of people killed etc. The commentary suggests we're moving into the heart of the town but the pictures show Croft Road - is that the heart of Hastings? we're also told we going to take a look at Hastings Castle but then we just see a few rocks on the cliff edge and none of the castle at all. I think it needs a bit more structure a big pairing down- suggest lose 10 mins so we don't repeat shots and and a review of shots are used because they're all a bit jumbled up add structure and review your comm as its baggy and doesn't work with the shots used.

So what if he doesn’t dwell on the ‘significance of the battle of Hastings’. He gives it a mention but it’s a travelogue - if you want a history lesson then go to a history channel, this one’s all about getting the atmosphere and flavour of a town and I think he’s done a perfect job. It’s certainly made me put Hastings on my staycation list.
