Why is it so difficult for "professional" youtube reviewers to cover actual details about these speakers rather than just overall db and how much perceived bass they put out? Why not run an actual frequency sweep on them and see how low they actually play? Are they stereo? We dont know because you dont bother to tell us. JBL has always filled the party speaker niche and Sony actually cares about their overall sound profile. Its obvious if you lusten to the two of them. And in case anyone is searching...the Sony ULT 7 is a stereo speaker with a proper left and right channel. This isnt too much to ask of a review, do you think?
Recently listened to both of them at the same time. First, I have to say this will depend on your personal preference. JBL deep bass, voice clarity and musicality is remarkable, Sony is not even close yet. You can have the feeling that the Sony sounds more open but that’s because I think they do a better job on the mids, however, you can EQ the JBL and give it a push. The Sony does sound louder and the battery might last a little longer. It is also cheaper. So if you care about music quality and deep bass, JBL is still on the top. But if you like those mids sacrificing some bass and clarity, and also do not have the budget, go for the Sony. I hope the BBX 4 gets those mids and improved battery life, but I do not expect a breakthrough speaker.
Wow, what a great comparison. And the war between SONY and JBL in this speaker segment has been very long. But now, it's the SONY time. Me, personally and many other reviewers give the winning throne to SONY ULT Field 7. Before, listening music to JBL Boombox 3 was very satisfy with the sound stage and the boom boom bass. But after listening to both of them now, somehow the Boombox 3 sound stage become narrow, or perhaps SONY is getting better? In the term of sound stage, clarity and bass, SONY can catch up and even outperformed JBL Boombox 3 with their ULT Field 7, what a great progress. Seems SONY has come back, they should make their speakers this way. The only disadvantage of ULT Field 7, there is no handheld or even strap like his little brother ULT Field 1. It can helping, when carry it for a long time. Overall, well done SONY.
After checking out both of these speakers at Best Buy today. I went and ordered the Sony. It sounds brighter and has more clarity. It also was surprisingly louder than the boombox. The boombox sounded muffled and staticky the higher the volume went. Also the bass on the Sony sounded better than the JBL. I would definitely recommend everyone to get the Sony speaker.

I bought Sony Ult 7 just when I watched this video and it arrived today. I have to say it's worth every cent !!! What should you be careful about while driving? Very loud sound and if you don't hear an ambulance or police ... it's at your expense! Great box, I already love her !!! Thanks to the author of the video for helping me in the choice! I am a fan of Sony's headphones and the speakers of JBL, but this is enough to say that Sony is progressing, and why not overtake them!

I had 2 speakers for comparison ... one Anker Soundcore Motion Boom and W-king. Both were 30 watts, but Soundcore was better !!! W-king was more powerful! W-King X 20 is 200 watts and if you want to impress your neighbor with a powerful sound, approx. But if you want quality, get Sony Ult 7(100 Watts) or JBL Boombox 3(80 Watts) or even Soundcore Boom 2 Plus(140 Watts). But choice is yours!

I've always liked the bright sound of BB3 from whatever I have listened to in other reviews. It was probably sounding muffled due to that bass being turned all the way up. Also, it'd be interesting to know if the ULT modes just raise the bass up or tune other frequencies too because both these modes are meant to deliver "special" sound..that can't be achieved just by raising one frequency range and leaving others as they were, otherwise there'd be no difference in using EQ and these modes.
dont tell me field1 belonged to the category of xb100 rather than xb23. xb23 supports party connect. and i realized field1 haven't got it's episode yet tho it got featured twice already
Subwoofer is nothing if the driver itself is small.. only Partybox series brings bass with higher volumes.. boombox which is still on the small side speaker has only good bass on 70% and lower anything higher than 70% the bass will start to disappear.
Basically what i was excpeting to happen happened, Bb3 still had deeper bass, especially at max volume, at the cost of maximum volume. ult s bass at higher volumes is mainly upper bass And the W king x20 still grounds both of these to dust in volume and Price Bb3 should have been set to +1 bass, +2 only Decreases mids and highs and basicaly doesnt improve bass

I have the jbl boombox 3 wifi and my freind has the sony ult feild 7 we did a side by side and the boombox 3 on a little over normal eq bass with a song in its hz range easily out performs the ult feild 7 now when it comes to max volume because the tweeter upgrade on the bb3 wifi they get pretty much the same max volume performance in total the bb3 wifi just sounds better especially outside because the ult feild 7 you just dont feel the bass outside with the bb3 you feel everything thats just my opinion though anyways have a good day to whoever reads this
