Love this song, and love Ronnie Milsap. My dad has been driving trucks for 40 years now. He wasn't around much when I was growing up due to being on the road Monday through Friday. We got a lot closer once he stopped doing cross country stuff and now just drives in a four or five state area. Driving trucks for a living makes it hard on family life and relationships.

I'm not a trucker, but when I drive on long roads, I feel just like in the song's lyrics. All my respects for a woman like Lisa, she seems to be like a flower it a very harsh environment, where only men can make a stand. May she, and her fellow truckers, be safe out there on the road.

I for one appreciate the hard work you Truck Drivers do out there on the road, driving up and down the highways and Interstates and freeways of America, It's a really hard job. @jffaleman You guys are all so right. Hardworking truckers make this country run. I love truckers. My uncle was one, and my best friend is one, too. The road has always held a fascination for me, but I don't think my bad back could take it. I just drove through Birmingham this weekend was was singing this song. I love Ronnie Milsap, too.

Truckers don't just haul junk, I haven't been in the cab of a tractor-trailer for over 30 years, but my cargo always walked on two feet and wore U S Army uniforms and parachutes. The Army uses rigs called cattle-cars to transport paratroops to Green ramp at Pope AFB and pick them up off the drop zones.

Listen buddy, my dad and uncles were truckers for 40 years. you wouldn't survive without trucks delivering food and other stuff. without them this country would have collapsed long ago.

Been over 30 years since I drove OTR. and I still talk about it like it was yesterday- yeah, I guess a person would say some drivers remain a "Prisoner of the Highway" long after they've been released
