Thank you. I have had heel pain for several weeks now. It’s been said I have plantar fasciitis. However my area of pain is not typical for planter fasciitis. My pain is felt on the bottom of the heel but more towards the very back edge of the bottom of the heel. Not the inner area of the heel where the fasciitia attaches to the heel. My pain is constant, not just upon waking up or after relaxing. It’s worse at those times,, but the pain never goes away as long as there is weight on it. Only time I have relief from pain is while sitting or laying down. I’ve have spent hundreds of dollars on shoes, insoles inserts, physical therapy exercise equipment, injections and multiple doctor appointment s and haven’t had any luck. I’m seeking a doctor who will think outside the box of plantar fasciitis, because I don’t believe that that is what I have. But it seems to be the first thing all people and doctors have told me so far. And beyond that I get a lot of shoulder shrugging as if there isn’t any other options to consider. This video is the first one that has helped me to know that there could possibly be an issue that isn’t plantar fasciitis. I wish you were in the Seattle area.

I been put in medical boots for eight months orthotics three months before that now the doctor wants to do surgery and I feel like they don’t know what they’re talking about . I found wearing block type heals help take pain off heels but we need to fix this very painful heel situation, please help

This is such a great video, your explanations of the different pains are the best on YT. I was diagnosed with PF last summer, and now 14 months later I am still in extreme pain. Whether I'm on my feet or trying to sleep, the pain and swelling is constant. I just did the ,'squeeze test', and I'm pretty sure I don't have PF at all.

I have pain on both heels with pressure applied. It is below the arch area and close to the rim but only in one spot. Not all the way around the rim. Both sides are close to the inside. My skin looked dry all around the rim, so I started using creams and a foot rasp. My skin now looks normal during the morning, but swells and turns shinny and red in the evening. I use urea cream at night. While bathing, the painful area turns white and looks and feels rough. Once dry, it looks normal again. I have already had x-rays and an MRI and nothing. It is sometimes painful to the touch at night as well. I have not been able to go barefoot in my kitchen for over a year because it hurts so much. I wear comfy flip flops with a soft bottom. I use a custom orthotic in my tennis shoes outside. I just had a cortisone injection and that did nothing. I'm lost as what the problem is.

Sharon, may be nerve related, since the MRI was negative. I would consider seeing a neurologist specializing in peripheral nerves. You can begin treatment with 3 times a day topical salves like Neuro Eze or Neuro One, Lidoderm patches while you sleep, Vit C 500 mg a.day if you are not getting, etc. So many treatments. I was told I have Baxter's Neuritis after years of chronic heel pain (MRI also confirmed it). My pain is not exactly where you pushed, but more like the rim around the heel - however only 1-2 inches medially, not all the way around. Stops before the Achilles insertional point. So further down foot than where you pressed, but that spot you pushed is included. I think I also have plantar heel bursitis going by your video. Will need to discuss that in the next visit!

@@drblakeshealingsole How often can this resolve conservatively? I was told 2 injections (to atrophy the muscle that entraps the nerve) one month apart, then surgery would be next if that doesn't work. Seems like a short conservative approach. It has been rehabbed as platnar fasciopathy for years however with not much luck, until we got the MRI thanks to an ankle accident. Now getting lots of PT for the foot/ankle due to injury aftermath. Only the first injection gave me some relief, but it's all back in 2 weeks.

@@1shanshan76 The treatment of a chronically irritated nerve can be surgery, but try 6 months of nerve treatments first. I wish I could tell you success rate, but some patients do fantastic! Another option for self-treatment is to look up trigger points in the abductor hallucis and the quadratus plantae muscles. Learn how to self trigger point these muscles, as one or both of these muscles, if irritated, can lead to compression of the Baxter's nerve. Their trigger point referral is also around the heel and can be the cause of pain!

Try a natural remedies for plantar foot. Something as simple as ginger root, which can be found at your local grocery shop, is a great anti-inflammatory. Ginger root is in the class of plants known as Cox inhibitors. This means they help inflammation naturally.
Another good remedy for pain is Bromelain. Bromelain is an enzyme got from pineapples. just drink the raw juice or eat raw pineapple, you can gt advantage from the properties of Bromelain. Enzymes are one of the top remedies for pain because they are all natural and are what your body uses to cure inflammation

    • @drblakeshealingsole

It may have started as plantar fasciitis, but you must have incredible inflammation or nerve pain. Does it look swollen? Does it hurt to walk on your heels alone? If you can get an MRI, calcaneal stress fracture is my number one bet. How did it happen? Was the initial symptoms gradual or very sudden? All good questions to answer? If it is plantar fasciitis, the answers would be not swollen, not hurt to walk on heels alone, gradual onset. Rich

@@drblakeshealingsole thank you so much for your response! It does look swollen, it feels swollen, mainly on the inside edge of the heel. I couldn't even begin to walk on my heel alone. It was a sudden onset when I started taking a new dance class. I started the class in January and the pain started in May. I thought plantar fasciitis because the floors were hard and I was barefoot. That's the only thing that I've done differently. Based off of what you have said, I'll be going back to the doctor ASAP! I knew it was more than plantar fasciitis! It's probably the most painful thing I have ever experienced. I did get an x-ray and I do have a bone spur. But the part of my foot that hurts the most is not where the bone spur is. The bone spur is more towards the middle of my heel, whereas the most painful part is the medial edge. Thank you so much for your time!
Edit: something else I forgot to mention that I think is very relevant is the fact that I put on a lot of weight very quickly. I think it was just a perfect storm of all of these different factors colliding to make my life miserable lol. I have begun losing weight, and I have implemented a regular workout/stretch routine.

Yvonne, there are 3 possibilities. First of all, it is typical plantar fasciitis with its symptoms after prolonged inactivity. The second possibility is low back compression of typically L4/L5 nerve root. You should feel better if you lay down and get up then sit and get up, or at least different. Thirdly, you it can be venous, where the veins are not working as well as possible. Again, sitting can be the worse, laying second, and walking around getting the circulation to move best. Check these scenarios out. Rich

The two most common causes of rim pain are neurological from a branch of the sciatic nerve, and insertional Achilles pain as it grabs the heel for push off. If you have any low back, piriformis, hamstring issues, these could all be causing low-grade nerve pain. If not, Achilles programs of stretching, strengthening, ice are helpful. You have to see what makes it feel better besides rest. If heat makes it feel better, then it may be nerve, if ice, it may be achilles tendinitis. Daniel, be persistent. I love to follow my patients monthly to make sure they are progressing. Some treatments are slower than others, but you still get well. If you are not improving, even getting worse, you need a change in direction. Good luck Rich

      Same.
Hard to tell if my ankle pain comes from joint or ligaments pain. So frustrated. Anybody can help ?
What ankle pain can be caused by heavy weight lifting ? Makes no sense. Hurts non stop. Feels pain all the way on each side of my heels and around ankle.
Saw a doctor. Gave me P T sessions : . Useless because I don’t think my injuries were properly analyzed to start with.

@@berengereful Of course, achilles pull is number one with weight lifters, but so it joint impingements. MRI would make sure no cartilage is involved. There are 3 phases of rehab: Immobilization (when diagnosis is made), and then when appropriate, Re-Strengthening. Finally, it is Return to Activity, which you are a way off from. It sounds like you need a diagnosis and some immobilization before any strengthening. Good luck! Sorry! Rich

    • @drblakeshealingsole
      @drblakeshealingsole  4 года назад

You will have to follow it to see if it grows and you should get checked out. The itching is from the skin nerve irritation that is produced by the lump. If it changes in any way this next week or month, I would see a podiatrist in your community. Good luck. Rich

Hi Dr. I had an MRI and it showed plantar fasciitis qnd bone marrow odema. This was 6 weeks ago. Pain has got slightly better but I have this nagging burning pain when I am walking. This pain does not warm up and it is constant when walking. Sometimes I feel the burn in the ar h of my foot at rest. I am a marathon runner and I have not ran in 4 months other than a 15 min walk run that flared my symptoms up really bad. Consultant suggested cortisone shot this Tuesday via ultrasound. Please help. I am unsure if this is tgr right thing to do. He said it is medial plantar fasciitis. I don't know if it is scar tissue causing this pain. If it is should I get a different treatment ? Shockwave didn't work on me

Doctor only on one side of my foot does it hurt, the left side of my right foot to be exact. It’s not the actual bottom of my heel (like plantar fasciitis) but on the rim above it. Just a tiny area above it and only when I’m standing, walking, or applying pressure with my hands to feel it. It’s not completely unbearable pain and I don’t believe I fractured it. I woke up yesterday morning and out of nowhere it was hurting. I accidentally aggravated it more by running with my friends because I thought it was nothing.....I was wrong lol. Please help!

I accidentally fell from stairs some 6 weeks ago, and landed with my left foot only. First the heel impact on the floor, then my other front foot. For 4 weeks I cant barely walk, and can walk a little on 5th week, then much confidence walking on the 6th week. But I still cant walk normally. It doesn't give me any unbearable pain when walking, but it's like my heel muscles doesnt allow me to walk normally yet.
Is this normal? I dont have any bone related pain though (I can tell the difference).

Ive heard some incredible things about it and my friend got excellent results with it.

Typically you have to put yourself into Phase 1 of Rehabilitation which is immobilization and anti-inflammatory. Get a Anklizer removable boot and see if that helps. Start icing for 10 minutes the sore area 3 times a day. That should start the process. Check in with a local podiatrist. Rich

It has helped me to stroll and run with no trouble again. Considering my improvement, I think I can get back to playing soccer by the weekend. I think that my coach is wrong about stating that it`s not possible to relieve plantar fasciitis within days..
