Oh my god, a Warhammer game where you play as a dwarf slayer, an imperial soldier, a high-elf mage, or a wood elf archer? PLUS it takes place in the Empire? This is so innovative and refreshing! None has ever done it before!

Think it has neat ideas and a good spread of co-op features, but really have to wait for a more open build to see if the skill combinations add up to something great.
I can feel ya on that. I will probably get this but it does look very "bland". If you replaced the heroes with any other models (even the Knight doesnt look very unique here either) and it could be any game! Maybe in the full game, when knowing the story and seeing more of the setting, it might spark the WHFantasy vibe. The fact most of the enemies are Cultists...or just "bad men in rags painted one of 4 colours" doesnt evoke WH as much as fighting Orcs or Skaven. Also, there needs to be more dialogue while fighting, maybe Vermintide has spoiled us but where's the massive shouts of "For Sigmar!" or "Bless me Asuryan!" when they pop their ultimate attacks? Possibly will be in the full game but still...feels a bit lacking without.

The Magnus Edition is 70 USD, so it would make sense to assume that you had made a mistake and not that you didn't state the conversion factor. Edit: Not sure why Scootopia thinks this is pre-alpha footage. The game is releasing in June of this year. 3 months to up the production quality of the game significantly seems out of reach. You make a good point about D3 feeling good and that's precisely the reason why I prefer its combat over something like PoE. Hopefully they recreate that same feeling in this while creating a much more enjoyable end-game experience than D3RoS. A lot of people who don't understand the RNG factor of the genre will complain about the RNG loot drops as that's just what people do now. PoE makes this extremely manageable by simply enabling trading and having currencies, so hopefully there will be something similar to these in Chaosbane if there is multiplayer. Probably won't be a first day buy for me, but a day 7 buy.
This game really buffles me. It's ridiculously similar to D3 in art, movement, even some textures seem like they've been taken right off D3. Now, considering D3 was panned as a bad follow up to a classic game (D2), I have a hard time understanding why someone would just go ahead and create a WH clone of that game. It's like setting yourself up for failure. Even if the game is good overall, I feel like I've seen it all before. That Slayer grappling axe, gave me the same vibe as a Demon Hunter Vault and the overall feel is very reminiscent of a barb. Again, no idea where they are going with this.
This captures my feelings about it well. Though, I believe that the biggest problems with D3 was the massive limitations of the gear selection for builds and the infinitely scaling end-game. Having a static end-game like PoE makes it significantly easier to not only build but balance gearing options.
Diablo 3 had a rocky launch, but Blizzard's strong post-launch support turned it into a game that most people really enjoyed. And the core mechanics of the game were never bad, just some of the systems, similar to Destiny.
This looks to be shaping up nicely. I was slightly worried when I saw an (alpha?) video of this last year, and the animations were quite janky. It looked, overall, quite rough, but they seem to have polished out a lot of that jank! Keep up the great work devs!
Im also a fan of the 40k universe I wish they made a arpg like this one for the 40k universe. Unlike inquisitor martyr which requires to be online all the time.
@Deep Res I do agree fantasy is undervalued when it comes to games but we do have Vermintide 2 and Total War Warhammer 2 which are both the best WH Fantasy games out there
I’ll give it a try. Looks smooth enough and ARPG’s are probably some of my favorite games, probably top 3 for genre. I mean being a console peasant my options are pretty limited when it comes to this type of game so I can’t really be picky 😂 played D3 to absolute exhaustion and I definitely like this games dark setting better!
This game is going to be awesome.. Can't wait till June. Big Warhammer universe fan here. And although I am very grateful for the Games Workshop, and its license being easily tossed around--that means there's a % chance of a developer making worthwhile use of it. Hopefully, Chaosbane is one of the better Warhammer games. And 70 enemy types? Hmm. Is that a high or low number of enemy types for a typical ARPG (base game)?
That seems pretty great, depending on what they mean by that. Usually in an ARPG, every class of enemy has some sort of gimmick to it. Like, some may explode on death, others carry shields that you need to break first, etc. In Diablo 3, Chaosbane's apparent inspiration, chewing through a crowd of mobs is usually not too difficult. It is the elite mobs that spawn with new abilities on top of other monster gimmicks that put up a fight. For comparison, Diablo 3 at launch had 4 acts / chapters and each of those had I would say 10 to 15 monsters with some sort of niche or little differentiating gimmick to them. So if Chaosbane has over 70 (does that include bosses, is probably the question), that sounds good to me!
I´d say it´s quite a lot, if they mean 70 more unique enemy types by design with it. I mean, other hack and Slash games like Diablo or Titan Quest for example, have pretty repetitive enemies, that sometimes mostly are different from each other by their colour. Just my Impression of it, played a lot of Diablo 3, Torchlight 1 and 2, and Titan Quest
I'm looking forward to this game. I wish Inquisitor Martyr was given some more attention by their devs. It was really fun and had a great unique pace to it, reminiscent of Diablo 1 almost. It just never got the polish it deserved.
Everyone complaining it makes no sense.. This is a start. They want to see how this does. Support this and it will get better trust me. There is soooo much material they have to work with in the Warhammer world 🤗💕
The high elf mage seems a pretty mundane representation of high magic. Fire breath, pillars of fire, and....yep you guessed it - a fire ball. Feels VERY uninspired, given the source material. Might as well have made him a Bright Wizard at this point.
Im shocked that is not coming to the Switch! D3 sold like hotcakes there and there are so few loot based rpgs there. My guess is that maybe the graphics are to much for the Switch? Otherwise I see no reason to neglect that huge profitable market...
Am a dia junk head and I've played most if not all games of the genre but I never had the same feeling as I did with diablo until this games beta stepped into my life god its gorgeous and I love the detail they've gone into love the warhammer world But I do have to critize the amount of classes released and from what I was able to see in the beta you continuously look better but just slightly which I also find sad I for one loved playing crusader in dia3 and would have loved to see a priest of sigmar and my mate played demon hunter and was hoping for a witchhunter
Will Not I’m sure their will be more classes in the future. I mean diablo didn’t start with 5 classes until later updates so hopefully this will be the same.
@@galactus4mac yeah is what I was thinking but the thing is that the warhammer universe is far more fleshed out than the diablo one when comparing hero characters and its often always the same at the start but it would be nice to see more
Will we ever have a slower paced arpg with less spongy combat and less spamming of abilities? Fewer enemies, but more difficult combat - where tactics and smart use of abilities is necessary. Less loot, but more impactful - if you throw bathe the player in super powerful magic items from the start, it kinda loses its charm later on. A darker, gritter looks, rather than shiny cartoony video gamey - pretty self-explanatory, and I mean the overall setting, world design, and storytelling, not just the graphics.
Milos Panic one of them is a sorcerer in the warhammer universe and he is shitting out spells like nothing, not only does it look almost exactly like D3 but the fact that the mage is just spamming spells makes NO sense lorewise. Apparently ARPG means that you have to stack 18 different spells at the same time, too.
@@RJMacReady1 Yeah, and not just in terms of gameplay, but visually less noisy as well, not everything has to explode and have crazy effect to pollute the screen.
Needs more characters. Empire Captain, High Elf Mage, Dwarf Slayer And Wood Elf Archer just aren’t enough to tempt me. Just seems too much like the Crusader, Wizard, Barbarian and Demon Hunter from Diablo 3.
@@bobloerakker7010 how about a freakin vampire? i know, story-wise that wont mix well with imperial soldiers, but the carsteins hate chaos just as any other race afaik.. maybe a carstein vampire and a heinrich kemmler like nekromancer..
This is a must buy. It doesn't matter it's just coming with the basic game and some extra content. It's WARRRR!!! A Warhammer version of Diablo type game is something I've wanted forever. Steam has so many crybabies bitching about the game and the price. Well guess why people? Because Games Workshop gets a nice royalty cut of the developers profits. I'll pay $20 more then a game is worth normally just because it's set in the Warhammer universe. Okay I said my peace!
the game looks kinda nice but the engine seems very limited and clunky. it sadly reminds me of a mobile game the way the charakters move and use spells
@Mr. Succ Meh The levels are in dungeons, but you return to city areas where you walk around, meeting characters and such. These areas were pretty empty when played so hard to say exactly how they work in final game.
What? It's not like it's asking anymore than normal, games have been $60 for the past 20 years. Were actually kinda lucky they havn't gone up like everything else
Gankageddon all those games are overpriced too, when we talk 60bucks i want games like rdr2, witcher iii, dragon age inquisition, skyrim.. games that have alot of content in them. This is a simple hack and slash with warhammer paint on it.
you were saying koop is quite a surprise. will this game be more focussed on story than multiplayer? d3 and poe clearly focus on multiplayer as in rifts, maps and such. i have to say, i'm longing for a arpg that goes in the footsteps of sacred or sth. along those lines. just a huge singleplayer-story that can be played in coop.. so which will it probably be? PS: why is there never a game where you play the bad guys? i'd love to kill of imperials with none other than vlad von carstein or be storming their treasury with luther harkon (yes, i've been playing total war: warhammer 2 lately and i'm thirsty for a more rpg-like approach.. everytime i see those maps from above i'm like 'just imagine having a proper RPG or MMO in this.. it's kinda sad warhammer online got shut down)
I cannot wait to play this game on pc, I love diablo 3 and the whole franchise, I didn't really get into Warhammer 40K but it does peek my interests and I would love a chance at a diablo meets warhammer ARPG.
This aín't Warhammer 40K. It is the Original Warhammer, also called Warhammer Fantasy. 40K is a later game settled in a futuristic spacial backgroud (super soldiers; spaceships, stargates, lasers, aliens,... like Star Trek but with steroids) while fantasy is more Tolkien type high Fantasy; with elves, dwarves anf humans figthing orcs, demons and undead plunging to conquer the Old World. Sometimes it gets confusing because they are both called Warhammer; and most of the races are in both universes (space marines are futuristic supe humans; eldars are space elves; orks are... well, space orcs; chaos demons are exactly the same in both games...)
So why is the RANGED mages big ultimate bloodlust attack essentially a whirlwind that requires them to get in close to enemies where theyll get hacked to pieces in the process? Shouldnt it be something RANGED, since the mage is RANGED. just saying.
It remains to be seen whether there will enough content and especially endgame content to avoid this game turning into a grindy, repetitive, uninspired chore. Plus, the last Warhammer that was supposed to be a Diablo 3 clone - Warhammer 40K Inquisitor Martyr - turned out to be a complete failure!
Aye the bitter, bitter taste of Matyr is still on my lips and I'm hoping that this will remove it, but I won't be spending any money on it until it's been out a few months and people have dived into it. Martyr is enjoyable for the first 10 or so hours, but after that it dies on it's arse.
It's a shame how these games only features the 3 "good guys" all the time, man, dwarf and elf... I am a HUGE fan of Dark Elves, they are my absolute favorites... followed by vamps and orcs. So, in vermintide there's no dark elves, neither in this game. A shame. At least as far as I know, maybe they updated these games, lol in the meantime, I will continue with total war.
GD is way underappreciated. The depth of customization is fantastic. I'm looking forward to the new expansion but will also probably pick this up eventually.
We've only played these two stages on a normal difficulty. Think they said there would be ten difficulty settings in final game, so there will be grinding aplenty.
Nice video and looks like interesting game! Got some questions hope someone can help me with ~ Does the gear change appearance of the character? Are there any different weapon type for each class? Like solider only can use 1 hand with shield and no 2 hand weapon?
I'm reminded of Eddie Izzard's Spanish Inquisition skit "Tell me, tell me about el Diablo...or I shall play this barrel organ for hours!" Always wondered if the pronunciation was right, but given his love of languages I should have known it was. :D
this looks so AWFULLY GENERIC ! its like "hey dude? do you want to play this diablo3-thing?" - "FUCK NO! I don't want any D3 "thing" FFS! I don't even want THE D3! Damn D3 is a SHAME of all Diablo series and you want me to play a C-L-O-N-E? REALLY???"

The high elf mage seems a pretty mundane representation of high magic. Fire breath, pillars of fire, and....yep you guessed it - a fire ball. Feels VERY uninspired, given the source material. Might as well have made him a Bright Wizard at this point.
I'm surprised it isn't - doesn't make any sense with the spells it has.
@@kaibe5241 Probably just a modest attempt at character diversity without changing spell effects. Already have an empire dude after all.
Any info on story length, replayability difficultly, final number of classes?
It was a Jabberslythe not a dragon, this looks good, but I wonder if there’s going to be more character/class options
You can play as a Slayer. Ok I'm sold.
This looks awesome, never heard of it until I seen it on Xbox store might pre-order it but love to see more of it.thank you
better to wait for release, no point in preordering really
Im shocked that is not coming to the Switch! D3 sold like hotcakes there and there are so few loot based rpgs there.
My guess is that maybe the graphics are to much for the Switch? Otherwise I see no reason to neglect that huge profitable market...
This will have different weapons and armor sets like Diablo and other Hack n slash games?
haha. no.
Does loot drop from mob kill or is it awarded at the end of a level.
Loot drops as you go along.
Looks like half of a great game, throw in more races and classes and a skaven dlc and im sold
cant wait.
great video. thx!
Am a dia junk head and I've played most if not all games of the genre but I never had the same feeling as I did with diablo until this games beta stepped into my life god its gorgeous and I love the detail they've gone into love the warhammer world
But I do have to critize the amount of classes released and from what I was able to see in the beta you continuously look better but just slightly which I also find sad
I for one loved playing crusader in dia3 and would have loved to see a priest of sigmar and my mate played demon hunter and was hoping for a witchhunter
Will Not I’m sure their will be more classes in the future. I mean diablo didn’t start with 5 classes until later updates so hopefully this will be the same.
@@galactus4mac yeah is what I was thinking but the thing is that the warhammer universe is far more fleshed out than the diablo one when comparing hero characters and its often always the same at the start but it would be nice to see more
Holy smokes you are funny dude! Enjoyed the video.
Friends don't let friends play arpgs with controllers. But since you aren't my friends you can do whatever you want.
I find playing arpgs much more enjoyable with a controller despite generally prefering m+kb for most games
@@jozeff3329 modern ARPGs are basically isometric looter shooters, where nothing matters but fast paced action packed gameplay.
You are drunk, sit down
@@RJMacReady1 Yeah, and not just in terms of gameplay, but visually less noisy as well, not everything has to explode and have crazy effect to pollute the screen.
Yeah man. A turn based dungeon crawler would be awesome. Like Space Hulk Tactics but in Warhammer Fantasy universe.
Wish there was some sort of stormcast character. I’m excited for the game regardless
Needs more characters. Empire Captain, High Elf Mage, Dwarf Slayer And Wood Elf Archer just aren’t enough to tempt me. Just seems too much like the Crusader, Wizard, Barbarian and Demon Hunter from Diablo 3.
Dwarf engineer would be great! Maybe a wood elf summoning class? Or a priest of sigmar. Lots of options, i hope they make more classes or subclasses.
Can I control it with mouse & keyboard?
Yep.
the game looks kinda nice but the engine seems very limited and clunky. it sadly reminds me of a mobile game the way the charakters move and use spells
I like that you don't need to have a phone to play this.
Just replayable campaign or will there be endgame content? Leaderboards/ladders or is the only network functionality co-op?
is there a community interface , where we could sell / buy loot from other players for in game currency ? or its all BOP like diablo ?
Hype for this
Has there been any info on story/character development or is it more like you pop into a level kill things then next level?
Similar deal to Diablo 3 - there are hub areas where you'll get quests and trade, etc. Levels branch off from that.
@Mr. Succ Meh The levels are in dungeons, but you return to city areas where you walk around, meeting characters and such. These areas were pretty empty when played so hard to say exactly how they work in final game.
I'm super excited for this game. It looks really fun.
Man Spell effects are lit.
Thx, I’ve been watching this one as I, also, have put in waaaaaay too many hours into Diablo 3 so always looking for more.
The 60 dollar price tag actually put me off, i will wait for a price drop.
@@Dknightxs yeah I agree. This will definitely be a sale or humble bundle purchase
Yet you prob spend lots more on that crappy car of yours
Eternal a car takes me to places, a video game is just a video game, you must he stupid to compare a video game to a car.
so is this arpg or hack and slash? you mentioned hack and slash at 5:02, but it will appeal to diablo fans? confusing.
its a hack and slash but marketed incorrectly as an arpg to capitalize and counter-oppose blizzard diablo mobile focus exodus of community
@@denvernaicker8250 so it is basically assymetrical vermintide?
I can't freaking wait to play my Dwarf!
Dwarves. I am sold. Waiting for fitgirl.
you were saying koop is quite a surprise. will this game be more focussed on story than multiplayer? d3 and poe clearly focus on multiplayer as in rifts, maps and such. i have to say, i'm longing for a arpg that goes in the footsteps of sacred or sth. along those lines. just a huge singleplayer-story that can be played in coop.. so which will it probably be? PS: why is there never a game where you play the bad guys? i'd love to kill of imperials with none other than vlad von carstein or be storming their treasury with luther harkon (yes, i've been playing total war: warhammer 2 lately and i'm thirsty for a more rpg-like approach.. everytime i see those maps from above i'm like 'just imagine having a proper RPG or MMO in this.. it's kinda sad warhammer online got shut down)
Functionally it looks alright, but the spells and abilities need better effects and more impact
This is not a off season April fools joke at least
Woah what system is this on????
Soloable?
So why is the RANGED mages big ultimate bloodlust attack essentially a whirlwind that requires them to get in close to enemies where theyll get hacked to pieces in the process? Shouldnt it be something RANGED, since the mage is RANGED. just saying.
Its biggest downside is that it looks like a Diablo 3 instead of Diablo 2.
Never heard of the game before, looks fun.
Am i old if this reminds me of Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes for the original Xbox? Anyone else got reminded?
I was thinking it reminds me of Baulders Gate Deadly Alliance
Can you use a controller on pc? I've used them since the 80s, and they are just my comfort zone.
This is PC capture.
But do you not have a phone to play Diablo Immortal ?
D3 was really bad for repetitive grinding. I hope this turns out to be better.
when’s the release
No date for it, sadly.
June 4th
I love how they always pretend Path of Exile doesn't exist
Why should they mention a shadow of d2/d3
hahaha PoE have no content and the company that runs it doesn't care about it
@@Golden_A The game gets free new content every 3 months, next release being this friday. It has more content than Diablo
@@Glauber.Safadi Shadow of D3, srsly? That game is so shallow it can't even make a shadow.
is this a health regen game?
It's a shame how these games only features the 3 "good guys" all the time, man, dwarf and elf... I am a HUGE fan of Dark Elves, they are my absolute favorites... followed by vamps and orcs. So, in vermintide there's no dark elves, neither in this game. A shame. At least as far as I know, maybe they updated these games, lol in the meantime, I will continue with total war.
And nobody mentions grim dawn? imo the best arpg out there. I'll wait for the price to come down first for this.
GD is way underappreciated. The depth of customization is fantastic. I'm looking forward to the new expansion but will also probably pick this up eventually.
I did kickstart this. Not a single regret. This is indeed a great game.
how is the endgame?
We've only played these two stages on a normal difficulty. Think they said there would be ten difficulty settings in final game, so there will be grinding aplenty.
I'd play it if you could block in the game. Endless hitting and gulping potions is silly.
I'll wait for a Runesmith character.
Nice video and looks like interesting game! Got some questions hope someone can help me with ~
Does the gear change appearance of the character?
Are there any different weapon type for each class?
Like solider only can use 1 hand with shield and no 2 hand weapon?
Diablo is Spanish for devil. "i's" are pronounced with the sound of a hard "e". So, u pronounce it like "dEablo".
I'm reminded of Eddie Izzard's Spanish Inquisition skit "Tell me, tell me about el Diablo...or I shall play this barrel organ for hours!" Always wondered if the pronunciation was right, but given his love of languages I should have known it was. :D
Sheamus wants his gimmick back.
This is supposed to be like Diablo 3, huh? Well then, I think I have an answer for you: NOOO thank you, and good night!
hopefully more of a diablo 2
Maybe D3 fans, doesnt look good to me, the 'diablo fans will like' thing drew me in, it looks meh.
Maybe this is more for D2 fans rather then D3
@Wurzelbert84 neither it is D3
Yeah mate i was watching this video i'm keen to play it now and i'll wait till relase date but it does remind me of Diablo and Path of exile.
I am not that well versed in WH40K lore. Lore wise, does this game have a chance to get Chaos Marines? They are the faction I love the most.
this is about WarhammerFantasy, not WH40K. There are no chaos marines in this universe.
@@TheWarrior39 I see. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
Looked awesome til I saw the rubbish skilltree, half of them are passives, other are just same but "stronger"
this looks so AWFULLY GENERIC ! its like "hey dude? do you want to play this diablo3-thing?" - "FUCK NO! I don't want any D3 "thing" FFS! I don't even want THE D3! Damn D3 is a SHAME of all Diablo series and you want me to play a C-L-O-N-E? REALLY???"
OMG i love Warhammer and Diablo, i was gutted when Warhammer online went offline and Mythic was dissolved into Bioware...
War Hammer online is still rocking, check Return of Reckoning, t1 and t4 pvp are very active
