My first strong memory of listening to this album was taking off from Houston in May 2013 en route to Australia. The night time clouds looked slick with oil. It probably has a lot to do with Gil Norton's production, but whatever else was going on, SB's the first band since the Pixies that captured the Pixies' essence.
Excited to hear the new record. Loved what I have heard live. Unfortunately, this verse is a direct rip off weezers "the world has turned and left me here" Surfer Blood only changed two notes in the melody. I like it for the same reasons, but Weezer should get 25 percent of the publishing for this song.
In my opinion, this band doesn't really have their own distinct sound to separate them from their influences. Very bland angst rock...I'd just default to listening to Weezer or Pixies
