thanks for explaining the difference between giving a link to a public folder (one way communication) and sharing a public folder (two way communication). Your video was thorough and easy to understand.

Great work Steve. Easy to understand, wonderful warm delivery and succinct. The key for me is collaborating. I don't have a workable understanding of how to set up my collaborating partners. I think you should emphasis this much earlier on or do a separate piece on it. It would be very helpful.

I probably could've made that clear. What I should've said, is that if you edit the document within dropbox, then when you save it it is automatically the most updated version. Your way would also work.

I think they would have to download it. But usually people sharing dropbox files know each other, so there should not be too much concern about downloading files.

You indicated that when you make a change to the document it will automatically update the document into Dropbox so Dropbox will then have the most recent version. I am not sure how you do that. Do you have to send the document to Dropbox and then override the prior one?

If you read about the advice professional speakers give about PowerPoint presentation the same advice always come up. Don't have moving objects when your are speaking to your audience, as it will acts as "noise" and take away the attention of the audience. Same goes for your advertisements underneath your webcam. I am assuming the reason for the ads are to make your webcasts look more professional, but to me it makes them look less.
Anyway. Your videos look good, voice is nice and clear, and RELEVANT effects are perfect.

Thanks for the feedback, in fact the ads at the bottom of my free videos are there for the reason most ads appear, for me to make money from them!
I don't charge for my content, or take sponsors, so they are a good way for me to mitigate some of the costs.

Steve, if I were to use the PUBLIC LINK to a document, do they actually have to download the document into their device, or can they simply view it in the cloud? I am wondering if people might get suspicious of the links in emails and not want to click on them if they start downloading.
Is there any way to control if the recipient can edit or just view the file/folder you send them a link to?
The new Dropbox accounts don't work like that anymore. Is there a way to get the simple link sharing back?
Now it always opens a browser, creates a very long and impractical URL, doesn’t copy them to the clipboard and when viewing the file you get the Dropbox layout around the image/video. It seems they now try to hide the actual URL from you and instead only send it to the recipient so they have his email too and can plaster their graphics and text all around your files.
i was using an ftp server but am no longer going to use that, so I thought I'd use dropbox pro for having clients connect to us andupload their files, and for us to send completed files back to them. I am a bit confused as to HOW we setup the clients on the other end. I can use it myself on this end no problem and share link with people and add/create folders etc, but what do I do in order to set up an external client to connect to our dropbox to load files to us? It has to be fairly simple, I'm just sort of stuck thanks very much, your videos are great

I think there is a way to customize which folder the email targets, just drawing a blank on it, but I have it on my list of upcoming demos,

how can i share a folder on dropbox with many people so that they can edit and download the folder without adding each individual in share folder options?
i tied to share a link, but my colleague can only download the folder but once he edited it, i couldn't c what he dose, so i had to add him manually in share folder options.
what about if many people?

mohamed soliman Great question, One way is to share folders and set up a "mail to" link for them to upload, but I thick for real editing you are going to need to modify each user's permission.
when I click on dropbox I don't get the menu you show, 'All my files', 'air drop' b'desktop' and so on... like you show at 2:14 in he video. I only get recently changed.

I only have one question. If I use "Share a Link" does the receiver automatically get synced with any changes to the file that was shared by a link?
I don't think so, but anytime they download the content they will get the latest version.
I LOVE Dropbox, but I'll likely be migrating to BOX and Google Drive for this ONE reason. I cannot share subfolders. This makes no sense to me. For a business owner that doesn't like files all over the place, I need the ability to share sub/nested folders.

I really appreciate your videos and that's the reason I'd like to contribute my 5 cent: The white balance in your videos gets influenced by the light of your monitor and so your face always looks really lilac. Please get another light source, it would make watching your videos so much more convenient if your face would not have this nerdy unhealthy purple/lilac look.

Why dont have i a public folder?
Hello, I've just recently had a issue with DB. I've made lots of big changes to my PC as of recent (new GPU, RAM, added a 3rd Internal Hard drive) The Dropbox icon I had pinned no longer allows me to copy the links. I have to go to the website and pull up my account, then I can copy the links I wish to share. It prompted me with it wanting to re-install but I am in the middle of trying to send 3 clients large files. My first actual question is: If I re-install, will I have to re-upload everything back into Dropbox? Secondly: If I re-install will that make the desktop Icon work the same as it once did?

I have noticed that the drop box page I have on my mac and I have just downloaded July 2017 is nothing like the ones I see on RUclips,
also the drop box I have, has asked to control my mac and wants to control and have access to my document also my films and my photos which I will not allow to happen
as an artist my films that I make are private, as are my photos and my documents as well, as my art work is also. Why is this program trying to access my private info?
this program is trying to control my computer and gain access to my private documents drop box don’t need this info or access for the program to work as a means for me to share a file with someone I know.
Now I know that much for sure. From what I can see this drop box is some sort of scam given the fact nothing is said about drop box trying to access and control your computer in this post why not?
