Recently finished viewing Marvel Studios "What If...? Season 1" and wish to leave my humble thoughts ... :) Enjoyed watching and listening to all of your trailer reactions ... ;B What If...? Season 1 is part of MCU's Phase 4 and 100% official canon. Season 2 has been greenlit & is currently in production. Set to be release next year. The Gamora and Iron Man Episode was beset by delays due to COVID-19. It shall be included in Season 2. Supposedly, she killed her adopted father: Thanos The Mad Titan, wore his Golden Armor and wielded his Double-Edged Blade as a Contender in The Contest Of Champions hosted by The Grandmaster in Sakaar alongside Tony Stark @ Iron Man. A Making Of ... Documentary of What If...? Season 1 shall air via Disney+ this month. At the end of Episode 9, The Watcher transported Natasha Romanoff @ Black Widow to the Universe of Episode 3 as Loki was fighting off Carol Danvers @ Captain Marvel, Steve Rogers @ Captain America, Nick Fury & the Agents of SHIELD. As pronounced by Dr. Strange Supreme toward the end of this Final Episode, Uatu The Watcher foresaw that The Infinity Crusher wouldn't work; that Erik Stevens @ Killmonger would betray the Guardians Of The Multiverse as well as the good Doctor's ultimate sacrifice. Strange realized they couldn't outright destroy The 6 Infinity Stones. Their objective all along was to separate the Stones from Ultron's vibranium body. As virtual Doctor Arnim Zola and Killmonger fought over the Stones, Strange trapped them in a pocket dimension - similar to his own from the end of Episode 4. Strange's character arc reminds me of Tony Stark. He started out as a selfish industrialist, egotistical billionaire and a narcissistic playboy in "Iron Man" [2008]. At the beginning of Avengers: Endgame, he was initially reluctant to aid The Avengers as he had started a family and was still traumatized by the unimaginable loss of lives in Infinity War. At the start of Infinity War, aboard Ebony Maw’s ship, Stark told Strange that Thanos' forthcoming had been inside his mind for the past 6 years (since the first Avengers movie in 2012). He convinced Strange - instead of heading back to Earth; the trio consisting of Stark, Strange and Peter Parker @ Spider-Man took the fight to Thanos on Titan as they had the element of surprise. At this point, Strange concurred with Stark's idea. He then revealed to Stark and Parker: that he wouldn’t hesitate to let either of them die rather than give up The Time Stone as the Universe depended on it. On Thanos' homeworld, as The Trio and The Guardians Of The Galaxy were planning their ambush, The Master Of The Mystic Arts was meditating off the ground. He came down with a thud and told them he went forward in time using The Time Stone to view all possible future outcomes in their fight against Thanos. After 14,000,605 alternate destinies - he saw only ONE (1) pathway to victory. The ragtag group confronted The Mad Titan to wrest the Infinity Gauntlet away from him. Iron Man had a mano-a-mano fight with him and was mortally wounded by his own Nano Blade. At this juncture, The Sorcerer Supreme had a change of heart; he begged Thanos to spare Stark's life in exchange for The Time Stone. Upon embedding The Time Stone onto his Gauntlet, the first thing Thanos did was to resuscitate Stark. When Stark asked why did he do it; Strange replied: "We're in the Endgame now". Fast forward onto Earth, right after after Thanos snapped his Infinity Gauntlet, as Strange was about to disintegrate - his final words to Stark was: "Tony. There was no other way”. It meant that Dr. Strange had a premonition of how events would unfold in Endgame. Saving Stark's life, surrendering The Time Stone and allowing Thanos to snap The Infinity Gauntlet was all imperative. 5 years later, Stark would eventually assist The Avengers by formulating The Time Heist as well as his own mortal sacrifice to stop Thanos and his Army. The very term: "Avenge" means to right a wrong after it was done. In this context, Endgame mostly took place 5 years after Infinity War. The Avengers rescued those that had been lost to The Blip 5 years later. Strange didn't explain in clear and concise detail to the rest of his team how all of this would play out. Ditto in What If...? Episode 9 as Uatu The Watcher assembled The Guardians Of The Multiverse. Yet, he clearly did not participate in the grand fight against Infinity Ultron right until the very end. He also deliberately didn't recruit Black Widow and Dr. Arnim Zola from Episode 8 into his Team. The Plan would only succeed if it went off in a spontaneous fashion. At the beginning of Endgame, in his home after dinner, Stark held a photo of him and Parker longingly. He carried a heavy guilt for losing his young protege as well as countless others to Thanos' Snap. Right after, Stark discovered Time Travel via The Quantum Realm and created the very first fully functional time-space GPS in the shape of an Inverted Mobius Strip with the help of his artificial intelligence / A.I. named Friday. Later, he had a deep and meaningful conversation with his wife, Pepper Potts by the fireside. Debating whether he should go ahead; risking it all on a roll of a dice. Unlike most other people across the universe, their little family were quite fortunate as they didn't lose any significant member to The Snap. Once he decided to go all in, Stark drove up to the Avengers Compound to make peace with Cap and spelt out his Top 3 Priorities before rejoining the team. Firstly, he hoped that they would bring back those they had lost. Secondly, keeping those they had found since The Blip (his daughter, Morgan Stark) at all costs. Lastly, maybe keeping himself alive by the end of it would be nice. Indeed, in the conclusive showdown with Thanos' Army in Endgame, Stark asked Strange: "Hey! You said one out of fourteen million, we win, yeah? Tell me this is it". Strange answered: "If I tell you how it happens, it won't happen". Stark quipped: "You better be right!". Towards the end of their climactic royale battle against The Mad Titan, Strange gestured with his left index finger to Stark - indicating it was at that particular moment for Iron Man's bittersweet sacrifice. From Stark's point of view, they had already achieved his Topmost Priority. Dr. Bruce Banner @ Professor Hulk had just snapped the Nano Infinity Gauntlet and revived all those they had lost. Regarding his next priority, to save his family and everyone at all costs - he willingly gave up his own life. After stealing The 6 Infinity Stones from Thanos, before snapping his gauntlet, he exclaimed: "AND I AM IRON MAN!". Mirroring the final scene from "Iron Man" [2008]. Just as the Pilot Episode of What If...? Season 1 paid homage to the trials, tribulations and heartache of Steve Rogers aka Captain America: The First Avenger. What I am grateful most of What If...? Season 1 Finale is that it honored the life, sacrifice and legacy of Anthony Edward Stark aka Iron Man. His transformational arc from a wealthy self-absorbed individual to a selfless and heroic family man who gave up his own life for the greater good was complete! The resounding commercial success of that very first Iron Man film was what kickstarted this entire Marvel Cinematic Universe {MCU}. Tony Stark quote from Avengers: Endgame: "Part Of The Journey Is The End". A huge Thank You to this "What If...? Season 1" for making me revisit "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame" after all these years.
