This film is a dream.
FUCK YEAH!! Such an under-rated film!! Orson Welles was a master!
This should have been on Criterion honestly.
Have I got a surprise for you.
Greatest and most mysterious film Orson ever made. So happy they're beginning to bring it out of the shadows. Good god that's some terrible music they set this thing to.
Is this movie actually good though or is it a movie that was shot beautifully but lacks any dialogue and depth in character? I wanna see it at film forum but. I just have a feeling it’s more of a art piece then a actual solid entertaining film. I could be 100% wrong.
yeah youre right. i love this movie but its mostly for the visuals, i couldnt tell u the story of the trial. still worth a watch nonetheless
@@chrisrivera236 You can't judge this film based on the tradition of conventional story telling. The Trial should be viewed as a dream and dreams don't move from point A to point B. I saw it today and it was outstanding and I didn't care that I didn't understand everything.
@@ricardocantoral7672 see that’s exactly what I’m talking about. It’s not about point a to point b. I love cinema and sitting down and truly enjoy a good film ( the third man, Maltese falcon, high and low, rear window, i coupe name a whole bunch of amazing old school movies. Why? Cause all those movies have great dialogue greats stories to match. The performances were great of course actors did their best here in the trial but that’s doesn’t mean it’s a good movie because it LOOKS good. With today’s technology you could make a new citizen Kane movie shot in 8k black and white and looking beautiful. But would it be a good movie ? No. Just because the director made it doesn’t mean it’s good. Not every movie is good. Some are just visually appealing. Most people can’t even remember the story of the trial just remember the shadows and aura of the film. I’ve yet to see on person explain why it’s good damn good. Other than visually why is the trial even worth seeing. Even the critics themselves only gave it an 85% avatar 2 got a 77%. Not too far off. Lol it not even that much better than a iMax teen movie.
@@ricardocantoral7672you must re read my comment my first comment. I don’t rush through movies. I look for all the same things critics look for. Depth in character, how well the cast works together and flows on screen. The writing itself, the dialog needs to be great rememberable or even quotable. The way the movies makes you feel every emotion ( thrilled romance a little action scared) the whole spectrum. I just don’t think I’m gonna find any of those things in the trial. And from your responses I think I’m right with my original statement. This movie is more of a black and white art piece with the shadows curtains the whole mystery vibe when the cops show up randomly and he’s lost. It’s def a weird movie at best, but to say it’s great is a stretch. This movie is like a sexy Hollywood model that has no soul. Looks great but I wouldn’t date them. There’s a lil analogy for you.
This is amazing!
Is there a new physical edition coming out, as well?
Studiocanal's edition in UK
Welles had to use taped voices and sounds like the Italians did.Would add to the dreaminess and expressionism more. The echo and scratch sound spoils the aesthetic a bit.
It might be boast, but Welles claimed to have dubbed some Perkins' lines during editing phase. He was excellent vocal mimic so it is plsusible. Perkins couldn't tell which.
Watch this as absurdist comedy.
Other than the fact this movie looks beautiful in a 4k restoration, why is this a must see movie ?
Because
whats the name fo the music
Anyone knows what music they use in this trailer?
i want to know
