Munich 1945 April 30 - American troops enter the city

This film was shot by Signal Corps cameramen who entered the city of Munich with the first American troops in the last days of World War II in Germany on April 30, 1945. In the beginning the advance to the Western suburbs Untermenzing, Obermenzing and Allach ist shown. In Allach the slave labour camp is liberated. Then the troops advance following the Dachauer Strasse to the city center. The formal surrender of the city to the American forces is shown. The last sequence shows people who welcome the American troops enthusiastically or at least with relief.
