Hearing Tom Hiddleston in this and then looking at him now, it makes me think: man this guy was hella humble about it. Tom had no idea his character would blow up in popularity.
@@aditisk99 Because it was badly written, very low-budget looking, the pacing was ridiculously slow, Loki changed so much that he didn’t seem anything like Loki anymore and the show wasn’t even made for the character *OR* actor, used a black listed Rick & Morty script and as much as I adore Tom and think he’d a good actor, he was very off and odd in this show. There were some clever elements don’t get me wrong but overall they wasted a damn good character and actor in the ‘TVA show’ and not utilise any Norse element but 1 in the *ENTIRE SHOW* they deleted the scenes of him in Asgard, they also had some hideous AI generated posters that made him look like a wax figure and some of them made Sylvie look like an edgy teen. There were also some posters that legitimately looked like ads and Kang/He Who Remains/Victor Timely and Sylvie both stole the show while leaving Loki sidelined as per usual.
The most underrated marvel movie and had the best score of all the movies. It's a shame they didn't use Thor's theme, later down the line of the infinite saga. Would have been amazing when Thor enters Wakanda.
12:22 "You know there's no sitting around in blue jeans ordering a frappuccino." Now I would like to see an art piece of Loki in armour sipping that type of frozen beverage.
Im glad they did not get too caught up in the "why does he wear what he wears" idea. I feel thats how you quickly end up with the Green Goblin from TASM2. Sometimes you just have to let the characters be the characters and if that means Thor is wearing a bright red cape then so be it.
7:04 Since they decided to only show the lighting AROUND Mjölnir rather than INSIDE it like in this view, it looks like they found another use for that concept art as the Tesseract 👌
you guys know that Tom Hiddleston originally did audition for Thor as well, right? there's a little bit of footage i've seen around a few times, he's got this long blond wig on and just thrusting the hammer up
I remember as a kid reading this comic in the 70s. It actually helped me read in school Old English from Beowulf, I love this Epic version of the movie.
let's be blatantly honest, thor who? cause tom hiddleston completely stole the scene as locki. theater actor vs soap actor, it's obvious who would make impact, tptb should have seen it coming
They are both perfectly cast, and I do love Chris Hemsworth in this role, but yeah Loki is by far the more interesting character and I think we were very lucky that it was an actor of Tom's calibre and intellect that was given the opportunity to explore the role, he does have a keen interest and understanding of the mythology which makes a difference. I dont think this character would've been as popular nor his story got to the point its at if Tom hadn't been so good
6:13 I don't really believe this. Loki was not planned to be in Thor TDW, they wrote him in after SDCC 2013 Hall H. That's what I read. And even there he was to die originally but test audiences wouldn't have it 😁 And he was not planned to be in Avengers 2, never was and was not in it and Thanos was planned to be the bigger villain. Maybe they changed the plan for Loki to Anti hero as he became so beloved, just why we should not love straight evil villains I don't really get. Anyway, they do occasionally change things according to audience reaction it feels but I just don't believe what he says there. Edit: the biggest villain maybe, but not across MANY MANY films. Can't tell me that was planned. And then they watered down his villainy by retconning the mindstone thing before the Loki series.
In SDCC TDW was already in post production. In the start of the clip Feige says that clearly! But after that appearance I'm sure they changed they plans and paved the path for Loki.
Of course Chris Hemsworth was perfect for the part. In J.J. Abrams' first Star Trek reboot, he was on-screen for 10 minutes, and stole the whole movie.
Lies. Thor (chris hemsworth) almost didn't get the part. First audition bombed, his brother and tom hidlston made it to final rounds of auditions, they weren't happy with them, and someone said "he's got an older brother, not sure what happened in his audition" and they gave him another shot.
lol they even have audition footage with him in a grey tanktop with the hammer and everything. Chris is the one that jokes about almost blowing it. And almost does count, as it's exactly the word I used. Do a search right here on youtube and listen to it from his own mouth. Then come back here, and apologize for calling me a liar please.
@@stephenpixley7411 It may have been a case of Marvel looking for Thor but seeing nothing but Loki out of Hiddleston...kinda like when Arnold Schwarzenegger thought he was going to play the hero in The Terminator (1984) but everyone thought immediately that he should be the villain.
Thor Ragnarok was actually the BEST example of picking the right director for the job, Thor as a character needed to change to be a funny, more relatable character, especially after the mess that was Thor The dark world and Taika Waititi was one of the best guys for it, The comedy always hit but there was enough emotional moments and challenge for the characters to thrive, but we needed a more positive Thor so when Thanos comes in Infinity War, we can sympathise much more with his character and all his losses. The whole Ragnarok plot-line didn't merge with the Planet Hulk plot as well as it should have, resulting in a bland villain and little care for the people of Asgard, but that's the writer's fault not the director, I think most of your problems are with the original script writers not Waititi
I would damn cry if someone replaces Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth as Loki and Thor! The two of them are perfect!
50 years from now they will recast them
Hearing Tom Hiddleston in this and then looking at him now, it makes me think: man this guy was hella humble about it. Tom had no idea his character would blow up in popularity.
Thor 1 is arguably Loki's best movie...though Ragnarok is close.

If you only know Kenneth Branagh as Gilderoy Lockheart, you are theatrically starving yourself.

An Australian playing a Norse God. GENIUS!!!
Thankfully they not cast Matt Damon, 😅
Originally they thought of Tom Hiddleston playing Thor but instead Chris Hemsworth plays Thor and Tom Hiddleston got the role of Loki.
I love the Kirby aesthetic in this film.
Thor is definitely my favorite character in the mcu
Thor 1 is my favorite of the franchise, Thor Ragnarok is great but unlike a lot of fans, I prefer the 1 and 2 because they are more dramatic

They were hoping for Loki to become a big villain for many movies yet they let everyone kick his ass so easily.... Well thought.
May04bwu and yet he became the most popular villain in the MCU. So they achieved their goal after all
