I don't think I ever even thought about a trans man hearing that phrase (male rolemodel or figure or influence in a child's life) and it feels very freeing that I can now. I do too! And I noticed, the reflection in the window was almost giving him away. Sure, one would need professional tech to make that a clear image. But I wanted to let you know in case you missed it.
My mother and twin sister wouldn't even respect my rights to privacy when I was 20, and they started to post my baby pictures on fb and so on. I told them to stop and take them down and not link my blood birthday to my fb page. They wouldn't listen. My mother really believes, since that are her photos, she has the right to do with them whatever she likes.
I told her I could sue her and my sister. She wouldn't care.
And now she is wondering why I finally stopped talking to her all together a few years later.😅 Oh... nothing like Christmas to remind you of family trauma

They are very sensible to do this. Other families show their kids all the time and you would nearly have to wonder if it’s nearly a form of child abuse as some of the children are too young to consent or realise the dangers of their image being online for all time.
i haven't watched this yet but just from the thumbnail, I just want to say how much i really appreciate that you always protect rupert's privacy! i know you've already mentioned that a while ago, but i just want to say again how great that is, and i wish more parents who are well known online would do the same. < 3

Rupert is so smart and considerate! I'm not surprised because of who his moms are but he's so young! I hope he doesn't lose the considerate nature as he gets older, he's so sweet. I can't have kids myself so it's sweet to see a happy family. ☺️

Watching this brought back so many great memories. Including toddlers in all the traditions can be so exhausting and rewarding. I remember when my son took on the job of hanging all the 'not glass' ornaments on the lower branches. This year I found out that my fiancee also prefers to just enjoy the finished decorations. I was able to decorate just the way I like. My body decided that reaching my arms above my head was not going to happen so my incredible, 16 year old, baby boy, who is quite tall now, did all the up high decorating for me.
You just helped bring back so many Christmas memories of decorating the tree with my parents. I always loved decorating the Christmas tree and looking at all of the ornaments and carefully arranging them. We had ornaments going back 3 generations on both sides of the family, and I developed a genuine connection to a lot of the ornaments (may be the autism and object attachments lol). Its so special to see Rupert start to get involved in the holiday traditions with you both. Thank you so much for allowing us to see into your lives and sharing such a special moment with us. I started getting emotional listening to you two talk about the ornaments and decorating and remembering being a kid doing the same thing.

Yeah like why was she even surprised? She muscled in on Christmas decorating as a kid and yet thought Rupert would allow himself to be left out? No chance!

You can cover the wall unit by mounting a decorative curtain rod over it (one that sticks out far enough that whatever you hang doesn't touch the unit. Then use attractive curtain rings and either a decorative wall hanging or even a pretty curtain. You can make a family Christmas art project out of decorating a wall hanging in the current color theme.
On second thought, it's an AC unit, not a heater so it wont even be in use. You could get a custom made decal from someone one ETSY. If you have the right crafting supplies, you could probably make one yourself with careful measuring.
I would literally just cover it with wrapping paper or fabric that is themed and neutral enough to not be garish. Maybe using a garland right across the wall and going around the unit.
I'm so glad Rupert decided to decorate the tree with you! Growing up, one of my favorite parts of the holiday season was picking out a tree with my family and decorating it. We would make it a whole event and light a fire, have hot chocolate, listen to music, and decorate as much of the house as possible. I also had a mini tree in my room every year that was probably the height of Rupert and I would cover it with my own ornaments - a mixture of homemade things, pretty things I found while Christmas shopping that I loved, and yearly ornaments my parents would gift me. I now live away from my family most of the year but I still have all those ornaments and my collection has grown to the point that I can cover a full tree. When decorating it I still think back to the happy memories each ornament gives me. I hope Rupert makes it a tradition to help and maybe even grow his own collection of ornaments and decor (I know he's a toddler but it's never too early to start an ornament collection).

As a fellow bad temperature regulator, I find winter the biggest problem 😆 the contrast between the freezing outside and heating inside really gets me. I nearly faint every time I go in a shop! 😅

Me too!! I also have a problem of sweating at the drop of a hat, so as soon as I start getting hot in my winter layers I’m having to run off to dry myself. It’s a lot more socially acceptable to be sweaty in summer!

We are still hoping to get a tree this year, but we are so busy with baby prep. We were planning to decorate it with baby socks and bows. This isn't her first Christmas, but she is very present at nearly 8 months pregnant.

A couple of thoughts for you, first to decorate the AC unit you could do many different things. One thing that came to mind for me first was to use garland and swag it along the whole unit from one side all the way around the front to the other side and depending on how you hang things in your home... you could use a command hook to wrap the end around. The next thing is to get some wired ribbon (ideally but if you can't get it then plain Xmas ribbon will work) and if you have the ability...then make some big and small bows for putting in the greenery to add to the fullness and completely cover the unit(if you can't make nice full bows, then see if your craft stores have some ribbon that already has bows made or ask if they make bows, for a small fee?). Oh and if you have it or can grab it easily, maybe put either red or gold fabric over the unit before you start hanging the greenery swag and it will cover the unit and you won't have any of it peaking through. The last touch is to find some large plastic ornaments that over here in the states you can find at Dollar stores. I hope you have something like it. The reason I recommend the large plastic ones is because being that far away from people looking at them, they should look just as nice as expensive ornaments.
The second thing I was going to say is watching you and your son decorate the tree brings back so many memories of my daughter and I. But the one thing I will warn you about...at about this age my daughter decided she wanted to help make the Xmas cookies and stuck a wooden spoon in my stand mixer while I was mixing and before I could do anything, it blew out the motor. So enjoy all his help but be careful with any help in the kitchen if you have a stand mixer! 😮🙄🤪

I live in Texas and we tell people the same thing. You can’t take enough clothes off to get cooled off but you can always put more clothes on to keep warm. We here in Texas don’t do winter really well. We also don’t do snow past Hillsboro. South of that city tells people that white falling stuff doesn’t belong here. If it does snow we stay home because we are smart enough to know we don’t drive on that mess. So much so that our roads are specifically designed for hot and damage occurs to road when it snows and gets icy. We just tell people to get dressed and bring a blanket wherever you go.
