  • Last month, RAF personnel took part in the Military International Drone Racing Tournament at The Honourable Artillery Company (HAC), London, which sets the best military drone racers from the allied world against each other in a fight for the win.
Battling tough competition, the UK team eventually secured second place overall! 🏆
With First Person View drones becoming increasingly prevalent in modern warfare, some of our people are developing their skills with these technologies through sport.
The professional employment of drones has developed at a rapid rate with many of these systems contributing to current Ukrainian efforts to defend their homeland from Russian aggression or being used against them. To be able to continue to fly and fight, the RAF must seek to capitalise on these emergent technological opportunities.

Drone pilots may be what we need in future conflicts. Was there a team from Ukraine?

Israeli pilots are far superior to the pilots of the RAF, except when it comes to parades, ceremonies and flyovers.

@@RobinBuckle I’m going to be frank. The RAF is largely a ceremonial air force doing flyovers at royal parades and ceremonies in their subsonic trainer aircraft. RAF relies on USAF to protect British airspace. Thanks to decades of endless budget cuts, the British even need American pilots and personnel to fully crew their new aircraft carriers. UK is lame and weak.

@@Вивсівідстій the raf has seen combating in the recent year from Afghanistan to shooting down drones from iran. They are constantly on QRA alerts to intersept unidentified aircraft and Russian military aircraft. So not weak at all

RAF requires USAF assistance to protect its own airspace. You British shoot down a few drones, while the Americans and Israelis do the rest, and you want 50% of the credit. RAF is not on a par with IAF or USAF.
