No one refers to someone as a sh*thole, and the fact that they can sit there and say that this is the case, shows the lack of respect they have for the voters. Morality is completely out the window with this government and how anyone can openly say they support them baffles me. As for lying to the house, untimately they're not just lying to them; they're lying to every single one of us, as MPs are elected by us to represent us. The current Westminster system was designed in a way that assumed members of that chamber would act in an honourable way; something that the current shower in government have proven, time and again, they simply can't do. If I were the Labour MP I'd have stood up and shouted "a liar" and taken the hit: nothing is more important than standing up for your constituency as an MP. There's some instances (Blackford) where the calculation has to be that being named and asked to leave for the day is more beneficial to the overall cause - If more Labour MPs started doing this on a regular basis it would build momentum for a change in procedures...I wonder whether upholding the ministerial code or Nolan principles ought to involve the speakers office as a safeguard against just ignoring it.
