日本英語は、口語調英語ではなく、文語調英語なので、特に違和感を感じると思います。
ここで説明されている方の殆どが、技術者や元自の方でしょうから、しょうがないですよ。本来営業職であれば、もっと流暢に口語調で話せるでしょう。
“Yes!”ではなく”Exactly!”と聞けば印象は変わって会話が続きますよ。笑

The issue is Japan haven't been very successful in developing jet and rocket engines
