This episode inspired me on a different level. I'm 32 and I had one of the deepest conversations with parents that I could remember as an adult. Watching Melo be a father and have his peers help with passing the torch to the next generation is special. I used to play sports and I didn't reach my full potential but I want to coach to help the youth reach theirs. I literally started working out halfway through the episode and I hope that I can continue to find motivation everyday to keep pushing forward. Melo is 40… his favorite player as a YOUNG KID was Bernard King. He had to have someone close to him showing him the greatness of Bernard King. King only played till 93. He only played with Knicks till 87 (scoring champ in 85). Melo was only 3 when King left the Knicks. Played with the Bullets till 91 and retired in 93 after year with the Nets. Melo was only 9 when King retired. There was no internet yet. Someone was showing him the tape, I presume.
Don’t know when Melo moved to B-More but maybe they showed Bullets games locally. I was watching MJ on WGN Chicago in New Orleans. Maybe he was watching Bullets games in B-More vs MJ.
