This is SO GOOD, I can't even understand how much.... Everything is gone, this is the blues, with no performance, just the truth in a song, drifting alone, through space and time, from Bob and Woody, to us

I got into all the old folk artists while listening to " a song to woody" off Dylan's first album. I must say this version hits much closer to the heart,it has much more feeling then Guthrie's. He was a blessed man to be able to meet his idol and it created one of the best musicians of our time.

When he told me his name in the Cafe Figaro or that other coffee house on MacDougal St. around 1962, or maybe a little later, I talked to him about Dylan Thomas who drank himself to death at the White Horse tavern a few blocks away about ten years earlier. of course I had no idea he was gonna be like the icon of the entire epoch. Or at least I think it was him. Who else had a last name of Dylan, spelled with a Y?

Its a mighty rough row my poor hands have hoed
My poor feets have travelled a hot dusty road
Out of your dustbowl and westward we rolled
And your deserts were hot and your mountains were cold
California, Arizona, make all your crops
And north upto oregon to gather your hops
Dig the beets from your ground, pull the grapes from your vine
To set on your table that light sparkling wine
Well I slept on the ground in the light of your moon
And worked in your orchards of peaches and prunes
Wherever your crops are I'll lend you my hand
I'LL ramble all over your green growing land
Green pastures of plenty from dry desert ground
From the grand coulee dam where the waters run down
Every state in this union us migrants have been
We'll work in there fight and we'll fight till we win
Well its always we rambled that river and
    I
I'll wander the valley till the day that I die
On the edge of your cities you'll see us and then
We come with the dust and we'll be gone with the wind
Green pastures of plenty from dry desert ground
From the grand coulee dam where the waters run down
This land I'll defend with my life if it be
Cause my pastures of plenty must always be free
