If paint the tanks please leave the ends polished and the tank traps chrome it would make ur truck look better in my opinion
Seeing those trucks with no big bullbars & those big back wheel fenders wouldn’t last long here in Australia our wildlife & cattle would smash them pretty fast.
I don't doubt, in the midwest you see more bull bars and such. It wouldn't last as long here ether.

Same here in the Uk as you’ll rip the back bumper off on the high kerbs they like putting on every roundabout and junction nowadays and those metal half bells as well
Up north we have 6 mos of cold weather that .makes polishing very difficult. So we get a 5lb bag of flower and put some on the polish cloth and the job works much better.
It helps remove the black residue.
I'm glad he went & found out what a show truck looks like .

For the wheels. U ever heard of Alcoa wheel hole inserts? Just a color ring on the hole of the wheels but the blue would match ur truck I think it would be a cool detail

Best thing to do in cold weather is to get your polish bottle in warm water it will polish better,

Bruce....in my 30 yrs I threw chain once until I was schooled with this ...if the roads are so bad you need to throw chain they are too bad for you to drive on. Remember, you can't be replaced. Of course we all know your father would say no more we're all done & that would be that. Tools can be kept secured in your side box. Remember you're going for easy to get to easy to return. Having them in a box in the middle of your painted frame means they will be easy to scratch your paint. I guarantee you most of those tractors are either just show tractors or don't go North of I-20. No snow, no ice of any kind & definitely no salt or brine (used to melt road ice.) That stuff & salt will destroy your rig starting the first Winter.

That Rollin Transport truck you said had an deck plate from wherever, is not true. That truck was ordered from Peterbilt brand new then shipped to 12 gauge where they pulled everything out of that truck and redid everything on the truck. Every part and component is one of from 12 gauge.
Use the rebel red pro with an orbital buffer I promise you it will make your head light buckets shine like a mirror and it will bring the rest on the aluminum out also. I use it on my trucks. The difference between the orbital buffer and doing it by hand is a million times better

Cool man my 379 is getting a rebuild and new windows and some new 4” sleeper and cowl so thankful I have a friend with many trucks and I can run his and pull my trailer. He put me in new 2023 kenworth lol 😂 he is wanting me too stay with his company. The peterbilt will most likely go up for sale if anyone will be interested. 2004 379, BXS CAT 355 rears with 10 speed. Truck is dialed in good at 70 mph does 1400 rpm.

Take it to Danny's in Phoenix and have it cut, buffed and sealed.. they were the only ones that I allowed to touch my trucks
I’d say if you wanna make that ol girl look even better, I’d get some 379 headlights for it, my uncle did that with one of his 389 Pete’s and it looks so good, that truck would look awesome with the 379 style headlights, so far it’s lookin pretty damn sweet though, keep it up man and keep er between the ditches

I had polished air tanks on my old Peterbilt. I ordered painted ones on the new one. I like the painted ones better. Way easier to clean. I do love shiny chrome tho. Lol

That’s why UK and Euro trucks have removable wheel arch tops and they’re made of flexible plastic held on with rubber straps
Bugger on unit though when the rear tyre blows out as it usual takes the wheel arch and rear light cluster as well because it’s mounted to the arch

Not a big fan of the grass burner or the air cleaner but over all it’s a nice rig
If you want to learn how to polish look up Evan Steger on RUclips. I polished my stock aluminum f-150 rims to a mirror finish. If you want a super shiny finish you gotta use airway buffs and a 7" grinder with compound bars.
Should have gotten the shiny cover for your apu cover or paint the one you have

Why is the DEF tank polished so much better than the fuel tanks? Does Peterbilt outsource the polishing? You can see how much of a difference there is in the first 2 episodes of this truck.

Bro don’t do the double hump fiberglass fenders if your going to be working the truck your going to hate it when you have to change the tire or when one blows out I would run the full size single stainless steel fenders would look way better and still have the old school look
A little bit of baby powder on rag gets the black residue out the aluminum real easy!
Several years back, I saw where that some guys used cornmeal and a buffer .
I don’t think the factory cuts and buffs the aluminum because they are meant to be work trucks.
Check out Jones's Performance they have a line called Truck Rods. They have some really wild molds for hoods and fenders. I know them personally and live locally near them, checkem out my man!

i really like your truck. love the color. the molded rear fenders, are going to make it look much better. i once chromed a motorcycle of mine, what a pain to make it look cleaned and shinny. are you going to pin stripe the truck, i think it is screaming for it

Why would you polish brand new aluminum isn't it clear coated like on regular vehicles because aluminum oxidizes so easily? I'm talking mostly about Wheels.
