Times have really changed because of this pandemic. It may not be the virus with the highest mortality rate, but it is undoubtedly the most economically destructive.
Not the highest mortality rate at least in part because of the fact that we know better now. We’ve learned from pandemics in the past, and our knowledge of health and science as a whole as expanded. The actions and precautions we’re taking is helping reduce the spread, and making it easier for hospitals to take care of the people it has spread to. That being said, it doesn’t help that my country’s government has a tendency to think in priority of what betters their own standings, and not what is better for the populace they’re in charge of, preventing any major assistance going through that would help keep the economy at least semi-stable. There’s a lot of people in my country in the headspace that the impact on them to change their routine is worse than the overall impact that would occur from taking these precautions, who also claim that the economic impact is a reason why we shouldn’t be taking precautions at all. These people are certainly in the minority, thank heavens, but since it’s also a more popular opinion in rural areas where, by nature, the spread has been slower, I end up hearing a lot of these things from people I grew up with. I’ve had to cut off a lot of people during this, and the only reason I haven’t cut out social media altogether is a few friends who post well-researched updates so I don’t have to go digging through google to find the diamond in the rough. And quite frankly, the earlier mentioned selfish people (blindly led by another inherently selfish person who happens to be running things at the moment) give me more anxiety than the pandemic does, at the moment.

God I haven’t watched Simon and Martina in months, I still remember when they were still in Korea and had their WTF series. Seeing their new editing style is so..weird?
The serenity at the end really got to me. I've been really struggling the last few days with the quarantine and the end of the video hit me in a way, like a reminder to stop holding in so much anxiety. I got a little teary. Thank you, I apparently really needed that because I feel a little calmer now.
thank you both for this, thank you Martina for rambling about coffee even though i don't drink coffee, thank you Simon for your bit in the end and for reminding us that everyone is in the same anxious state. ive been feeling really bad about everything, i have a lot going on right now and a lot of uncertainty happening and the timing of the pandemic was perfect to make all my worries worse. i do have faith that we'll get through this the best we can, but it's really hard to wait. seeing that you're okay gives me a good feeling, stay safe
Simon and Martina, thank you for always putting smiles on our faces :-) Even during these tough times, you find a way to bring happiness onto RUclips! I hope the both of you are staying as safe as possible during this pandemic. Love you both! P.S. Smudge is the cutest fur ball ever
Hey guys. Thank you so much for, even in this scary time, being a calming influence. I find myself constantly seeking out your older and newest videos as a source of comfort. I've watched you guys since 2012, so watching a Simon and Martina video brings me to moments of happiness I've felt every time I watched a video of yours, regardless of when I watch it. Sincerely, from a dedicated fan, thank you. You do more for your audience than you may know.
So eerie to see a Tokyo so quiet on a Friday night! I absolutely loved your coffee talk. In Ottawa you are not allowed to stop or sit or play in any parks...walk through only. LOVE the trees at that temple.
Hope you stay safe over there! I’m lucky to live in a small town here in Sweden, and from what I know there’s no confirmed cases of Covid here yet, but it’s safe to assume we have it here as well as the neighbor town has had confirmed cases already weeks ago. But even with the uncertainty in my town now, I stay home as much as possible and have rigorous routines both while outside and when getting home, and I only really go out for walks or when I have to pick up medicines or get some groceries. I may also support some small business in town, like picking up dinner from our absolutely amazing hotdog place (they have the possibility to order and wait outside) or get a piece of cake and something to drink at the local cafe if there’s no more than like 2 other customers in there. Staying home isn’t an issue for me per see, life isn’t all that different from my usual life tbh... But I also do think the Swedish government needs to put more restrictions in place, especially in places like Stockholm where Sweden has its epicenter and people still go out as if the pandemic didn’t exist... That kind of people have showed that freedom under own responsibility is not working! We’re now at over 2000 dead, in a country with a population of just about 10 million!
Thanks for the video update. I'm a Canadian living in South Korea now and things have gotten a lot better now but everyone is still being super careful. I know in Canada the parks are all closed and some people have gotten 800 dollar fines for going outside. It's pretty crazy. We are very lucky to be in countries that still allow us to go out. Stay safe and healthy. I always enjoy your videos! Please make more! Lots of meemers scenes and some cooking scenes are always my favorites! It's cool how you amped up the 711 pasta :) ♡♡♡
This really made me take a step back and breathe. I’ve been under so much stress being one of two workers at my job and my anxiety and pain have been through the roof. You guys really helped me take a moment to breathe and relax. Thank you, love you guys.
I got anxious just looking at all those people in yoyogi park. Here in Australia we had some major beaches that got reopened and then literally a day later got closed again because too many people were crowding the beaches. So to see so many people in that park would of really worried me. Was kind of surprised Japan is taking such a calm approach to this, although at the same time not surprised. But...at the end of the day I hope that once a way to manage the virus appears we can begin to travel again. I miss Japan, I had wanted to visit early next year but at this stage it may be a pipe dream to think the world will be back to some normality by then, but when it does go back to normal, I am going to make sure my next trip to Japan is amazing, so I can appreciate what it means to travel.
Simon that weird feeling you described at the park.. It was a small anxiety attack. You handled it very well! It's a good idea to stop and remind yourself.. the world is ok. It will all be ok!
hey, Onyx Coffee is based near my hometown in southwest Missouri! Bentonville/Roger's, Arkansas is a really nice area that I don't think many people have ever heard of! Onyx's store fronts are super hip and cute! 🤗
With a lot of empty and quiet places, I'm literally stopping and smelling the Roses or the beach or just listen to the emptiness that's going on around me and I LOVE it. I'm one of the people that loves staying at home so I'm doing great. I'm really hoping with this order, people get to enjoy themselves. Learn again what they love to do, taste, watch. I was working a job where I was on call 24/7 for 4 years and I completely lost who I was. I JUST got done with that job this last december, right at the beginning of this year. Be patient with yourself, it's ok to not do anything all day.
I have never seen such an impressive amount of coffee machines! 😁 But Martina... you're missing one! Here in Italy many people use the "macchinetta del caffè" that you mentioned in the video, BUT... there's a special version of it! Here in Naples there's a special pot, called "macchinetta napoletana" and it is totally different. You need to twist two parts together and, after boiling the water inside the coffee, you have to turn it upside down and make it filter through the coffee a second time. Not many people use it, because the coffee flavour is absolutely amazing but it is filled with caffeine and you won't be able to sleep. 🤣 Also, here in Naples we usually make a sort of cream made with sugar and the first drops of coffee (that have a more intense flavour). You whip it together really well until you get a super super creamy texture. When you pour the coffee, the cream creates a lovely creamy foam on top. It is really really good! You should give it a try 😁
I live in NYC and things here went crazy. I lost 3 family members and a friend to Covid-19 in two weeks time. Simon, I also had the same panic on our first time back to eating in the cafeteria at school here in SK. We all stay very far apart, but I was so scared. I was scared to eat the food, scared to sit down in the same room as everyone. But I calmed down and have eaten in the cafeteria for a week now. I don't know how I'm going to feel when all the kids are allowed to come to school again. So far we have some for emergency childcare. It has been nice to see real children again. As a teacher, it has been hard going into the new school year and not seeing their smiling faces. It makes you realize just how much you love your crazy students.
Oh Simon, I totally understand your anxiety! My husband works at a grocery store and he's had a few days like what you're describing. This situation has been really overwhelming, but I'm very thankful and grateful that my husband still has a job through this. I hope that when things settle down I can remember the methods I used to calm myself thru it all.

Thank you for sharing a snippet of your experiences with all of this. I haven't caught up in a while and it was really interesting to see what life is like for you both right now. Martina, you are so beautiful! I love this hair color on you but the mismatched socks and braless coffee-making really top it off
The editing of this video is HILARIOUS! Your usual videos are always fun and/or funny, but this time it's like you guys leveled up 1000x! Is it the caffeine's doing, Martina? Be honest 😂😂😂
I love how we were all anxious with Simon, but then he meditated and showed us calming pics and played zen music and brought us down a whole other level to a peaceful state. That was nice ☺️
This is a beautiful, surreal short film. Wonderful editing and composition. Thank you for sharing. My family and I were set to go to Japan this fall, but it's looking like that might not happen right now. No matter how long this situation takes, we will make it eventually.
April 19th was a super rough day and month for me. My father lost his fight with liver cancer that morning. Because of the virus I couldn't visit him in the hospital that last week. The nurses let me FaceTime him though. I got to tell him I loved him and that gave me peace. Thank you Simon and Martina for your videos. You're both awesome and I have enjoyed watching for 4 years now. When I've been depressed I go to your channel and smile. Love from Kentucky. 💓
It's so weird being a high school senior during this time. There's not much work left to be done but I find I really miss the school I was so ready to leave before. This whole situation has made me rethink my outlook on people and life....so I guess in that way I'm grateful despite how truly upsetting and horrible the pandemic has been.
Malaysia has been in Movement Control Order since mid March. Public spaces are closed (parks, religion places like mosque and temples, school etc), only essential business allowed to run (malls are open, but only shops selling essentials like hypermarket and drugstore are open), roadblocks on most roads (1 person per car, unless you have valid reason. Otherwise you'll get fined). People breaching the MCO get fined 1000MYR per head. It's difficult to get used to, but it's effective. Gov also give out some monetary help to most citizen to get by while not being working. Hopefully this whole situation gets better; I'm longing for fresh air in the parks
I tried to order coffee and they DON'T SHIP TO CANADA!!!! I'm crying, I work at a independent coffee shop and I miss quality coffee, I'm almost out of what I had before the shutdown.... I don't know what I'm going to do now!!!! Loved the video even if I do now have coffee envy! I hope you're both staying safe. Love from Toronto
My local roaster is shut down and I've run out of their coffee. I've been buying grocery store coffee and it's just not the same. Ugh. I've managed to track down a small farm that sells one of their roasts but I haven't bought any yet. (Haven't left the house) but hopefully soon I'll do a curb side pickup from them. It's not the beans I love but at least I know it will be quality coffee. I miss quality coffee
I hear you. Does anyone else feel anxiety just going to a gas station or grocery store? It's like I have to take a few deep breaths and keep myself grounded before going but who ever thought that doing such things would cause such worry and stress? You are right Simon that we cannot take nature/life for granted. I envy though the fact that you have such nice scenery to enjoy!:) ❤ from Ottawa

Thank you for sharing the raw moments of anxiety outside. I have been outside twice in 7 weeks, and both times I was drenched in the cold sweat of fear. I am terrified that this pandemic has given me agoraphobia, but with five autoimmune diseases, it is still super dangerous for me out there. Stay safe and wash your hands everyone!
It’s so insane to see Tokyo so empty! I currently live in Osaka, and for the first part of this whole situation, it wasn’t as drastic as Tokyo. It was pretty much business as usual, but in the past week, it has REALLY turned around. The subway had maybe 10 people when there was usually 1,000, and so many stores have closed or are closing hours early to deal with this situation. Side note: I have been going through a break up these past few days, and these videos have been an incredible help with building a ladder and remembering to find the beauty in everything and take care of myself. Love the both of you guys! Give Meemers some well deserved pets from me!

SImon, I loved your talk towards the end in Yoyogi Park. I agree, I hope we all remember how we felt at this time, uncertain, scared, and longing for community again when we get out of this. I hope that when this happens and we enjoy a meal with friends at a restaurant, grab coffee, or even go back to work, we can value that experience of being out, living life as normal, knowing what we came from at this time. Stay safe yall.

Mental health is hella important, especially right now with everything going on! Glad you guys are doing what you can to try and stay calm and relaxed (and full of coffee!).
I love the way you guys do sponsorships 🤣. I honestly wish we had this in Canada.
Thank you so much!!! We’re slightly difficult to work with at times because we won’t work with companies that won’t let us “be ourselves”...bra free and everything 😂
@@eatyourkimchi I knew this would be a good sponsor 'cause I remember you guys saying a while back you don't do sponsors with companies who are too strict or don't have good products 🖤
Lots of independent Canadian roasters who would love your support at this time! As a Hamiltonian, I gotta plug Detour Coffee Roasters: detourcoffee.com/collections/coffee-subscriptions-canada
@@eatyourkimchi authenticity shows, and cant be faked. I appreciate that you guys don't take every sponsorship offered just in the sake of making a buck. And if a potential sponsor thinks thats you being 'difficult', then they can take a long walk off a short pier. :)
And internet quizzes are LIFE.
I love that they only do sponsorships that are "on brand". I remember when a RUclipsr I used to follow suddenly starting plugging toilet paper (last year). That was cringe.
"add a little bit more of that **dill tho** " 10:00
I heard that too 🤭
Dildo teehee
I have been on a health related Social media fast. I am very happy to end it with your positive videos. Thank you both!
I'm glad to see that even in this unsure time you and Simon (and Meemers) are all hanging in their and doing good.
thank you both for this, thank you Martina for rambling about coffee even though i don't drink coffee, thank you Simon for your bit in the end and for reminding us that everyone is in the same anxious state. ive been feeling really bad about everything, i have a lot going on right now and a lot of uncertainty happening and the timing of the pandemic was perfect to make all my worries worse. i do have faith that we'll get through this the best we can, but it's really hard to wait. seeing that you're okay gives me a good feeling, stay safe
You do more for your audience than you may know.
coming back here after having watched alice in borderland and seeing the streets of japan so deserted is...disconcerting
So eerie to see a Tokyo so quiet on a Friday night! I absolutely loved your coffee talk. In Ottawa you are not allowed to stop or sit or play in any parks...walk through only. LOVE the trees at that temple.
I've also been thinking about how we will appreciate being outside in nature much more once this is over. Looking forward to that. Stay safe everyone!
2:28 Everytime Martina starts to stumbles over her words...she sounds like an animal crossing character to me. That's so cute!
This really made me take a step back and breathe. I’ve been under so much stress being one of two workers at my job and my anxiety and pain have been through the roof. You guys really helped me take a moment to breathe and relax. Thank you, love you guys.
The music and atmosphere at the end of the video was so beautiful. Thank you both for sharing your experience with us.
Oh I’m glad you liked it. I loved editing that part!
Agreed! The sun shining through the green of the leaves down onto the wooden buildings and gate coupled with the music was really special.
So happy Trade sponsored the video. I love using them! ❤️
That’s amazing! I really loved their coffee ☕️ we picked three different bags but this one was my stand out love 💕
Wooo Missouri representing lol
I just had some Onyx coffee delivered!
Thanks for letting me know! My parents love coffee and we are in Missouri so I'll tell them about this.
Oh neat I didn't know we had that! I'm from that area but currently live in Ohio I'll have to remember that when I visit family again
But Martina... you're missing one! 🤣
Also, here in Naples we usually make a sort of cream made with sugar and the first drops of coffee (that have a more intense flavour).
Had it myself, it sucks. ❤️❤️I just want to wish you and everybody else here to stay safe and enjoy the little things. ❤️❤️ Your videos always brings me joy because you are so REAL even when being silly. I love you guys.
Been having a really tough quarantine, Simon's FF7 streams have been helping a lot. And Martina's positivity is always inspiring. Wishing you and all the nasties around the world the best, let's all build a ladder together
I love that your trees are green already. Our cherry blossoms are just blooming, so all the other trees are bare and it looks (and feels) like winter still. Enjoy your moments of sanity!
martina looks so slim and healthy!! im so happy your diet is working i know you were working really hard on it to help your joints! Maybe could you do an update on it? im so proud of you and happy to "know" you for the last 5 years
I lost my job this week so it's nice to have a video to keep me happy. You guys always brighten my day.
I click the link and watch full ads to send a little support to S&M and dr.Meemersworth during this hard time. Fighting
It makes you realize just how much you love your crazy students.
the beginning is what I always imagined what would happen in a Godzilla movie.
Me: Not really a coffee person but clicks on the link to search for that coffee test.
This video is just what I needed right now 😌 thank you for not forgetting to show us some shots of coffee, food and nature!
when you have been up all night exhausted and you have to rewind the vid to make sure you herd something right..lol...."ohh add a little more of that DILL DOH"....o.0
Madison even the captions spelled out “dildo”
OMG finally the ultimate coffee video?! I been waiting for years for this !!!! You made me the happiest person ever!!! Aaaaand it was a sponsor.....Still waiting for the ultimate dive into coffee snob gloriousness video from you guys. Crying in coffee beans....
I’m surprised shrines r still opened. Also, I agree with Simon - never forget the beauty of nature
It's so strange seeing Shibuya so empty
It's so weird being a high school senior during this time. There's not much work left to be done but I find I really miss the school I was so ready to leave before. This whole situation has made me rethink my outlook on people and life....so I guess in that way I'm grateful despite how truly upsetting and horrible the pandemic has been.
making coffee in the kitchen standing bra-less, no makeup, in pajamas SO relatable
That's utterly disappointing seeing so many people at that park.
Yet their number continues to remain low. I don't what they're doing right, but they are in a better state than western countries.
@@chiaraippoliti Japanese people are not as stubborn as other people *coughs* americans protesting and gathering in DC *coughs*
Really? All wearing masks, lowering their stress basking in the sunlight. They appeared to be keeping a distance.
@@the.annethology Not just Americans. Many Europeans were having trouble doing social distancing and now they're back out again.
I am glad You guys are getting through this. It is so hard to stay inside so long, especially as weather gets well. Stay safe.
Getting flashbacks to last year when we had that recordbreaking typhoon and I had just arrived in Japan with my classmates so we were all so confused every time we got those messages over the speakers and we understood nothing cx
Also I love you and hope you are safe!! Your Videos always make me smile
I've watched your channel for years but haven't checked it in a long time. It somehow gives me a lot of comfort to see where you are through all this!
2017 Me: I really need to cut out coffee to manage my anxiety
2020 Me: Hey you waNT COFFEE I CAN MAKE IT 9 DIFFERENT WAYS NOW
You have no idea how happy I was to find you guys uploaded a video! Seriously is getting me through my day.
Stay safe and healthy from the virus that shall not be named!
Great video!!! Also, Martina, are you ever gonna sell that adorable backpack you designed? I remember watching you draw the doodles on your iPad and I love it so much. Then I saw you wearing it. I would love to have one!! xoxo
Check out king.kogi on insta. It's Martina's shop!
Thank you guys 😊 when I'm feeling anxious or simply want to unwind I watch your videos . I hope your staying safe
Hi, guys! Hope everyone is doing fine (trying not to go insane from staying inside).
We will get through this. Just wash your hands. And keep everyone more than 3 feet away.
And kiss your pets. They love having you home!
Stay safe! ❤️❤️
Been inside for almost 2 months and lost my job since the outbreak here in Indonesia. I started feel that I'm loosing my mind and scared. I'll go out tomorrow and be a part of a nature. I want to be healed by nature. Thank you Simon and Martina, stay safe and this too shall pass.
Love from Etobicoke, guys! Looks like things in Ontario will be closed until mid-end May at a minimum. Hope all your family are friends are keeping well and healthy.
The announcement it's wierdly scary, it make me think of some post apocalyptic japanese games i played.
We are week 3 of our 8 week lockdown.... can only shop for groceries, takeaway food and exercise... they close all the Parks cos it was getting overcrowded
I love it! Im such a coffee lover too. Exploring different ways of making everything, finally finding the one that I love most. I had the horrible realization that Im on my last half pound of coffee just this morning, so this video was PERFECTLY timed! Im so glad to know the two of you are holding up well. Ive followed you for years and I love each and every one of the videos you make. Stay safe.
Definitely a polish boy... Put that dill on everything lol
I so feel the kitchen cleaning, my kitchen has been spotless for weeks now. I've also thrown myself into my hobbies, like keeping plants and crocheing, way more intensely than usually.
Is it bad when I keep hearing something different whenever they said: I wanna get some of that dill though.
I actually kind of like how the emergency message sounds lol
Missing you guys 🥺 Hope you guys and meemers are ok. Marathoning just for the good vibes
I lowkey want some Martina's Midnight munchies content, heck I would like Breakfast, Second-breakfast, Lunch, Dinner munchies 🤣
The scenes shot by Simon at the park and temple really spoke to me. Bless.
I see Martinas mismatched pair of socks (on accident) and I just smile cuz I do that on purpose XD
I like wearing mismatched socks lol
I mismatch on purpose too!
Same 😂
Somehow this video about the pandemic / state of emergency was one of the most calming videos I've watched in a while. You guys always manage to relax me and cheer me up, even somehow in a global crisis, and I'm so grateful for you. On a related note, when you mentioned living there four years ago, it really slapped me in the face how long I've been watching your videos. I'm so happy you allow us to be a part of your lives. Keep safe!
"add a little more of that dill though" (dil do)
Okay, ive always loved simon. But I have to say, that fast comeback of "Hey, you put socks on!" Made me simle so big! Not even a second after you said about your wrong socks! Sooo sweet

Anyone else having issues with nausea?
This is why I can't have nice things, like VR. :/
The 5pm chime is Adorable. Also, I love how the neighborhood is so safe, families are so reassured that they send their kids out and know they'll come back at 5pm on the chime. Don't need to accompany the kids. So great. Takes a community to raise a buncha kids together~~
I’m fasting cause it’s Ramadan and I made the mistake of watching this video. 😔🤚🏽 now I’m hungry... 😭😭😭
