    “It’s lockable” but you can take the whole thing off and run away with it lol

  • @kanaweli
    @kanaweli 5 лет назад +26

    Good thing there is a lock on it, that will encourage someone to steal the whole thing, which will be EXTREMELY easy. There should be something preventing this. Go to 8:10

      Hahaha, why does it even lock?!

      I haven't tested the Undercover model for this but other brands boxes doesn't allow you to lift the case off it's hinges until you have swung it out fully, something you cannot do with the tailgate closed and locked. Plus, all these boxes are really made to be extra compartmentalized storage under a tonneau cover.

    • @sammas7440
      @sammas7440 5 лет назад +2

      I bought a left and right side for my 18 F150. I noticed the keys fit either box. So I guess all these boxes are keyed the same. Not a big deal, because it's under my tonneu cover anyways. They locking top would be handy if you needed to keep a nosey ninny out of your stuff if you have the box off the truck. Also, it has a latch for a padlock on the hinge bracket so it can be locked and can't be removed. Anyways, I'm happy with the setup so far, just finished installing it and will fill it up later with crap (LOL). Although, if it's full of stuff, it'll be heavy to lift off.

      There’s a spot on the rear bracket to install a padlock to prevent the case from pivoting

    • @foford2010

      They'd have to get the tailgate down first to get to the hardware mounting the swingcase.

    Just installed this on my F 150. It is easy to install. The only problem I had was getting the tail light off. There are 2 pins on the forward part of the light, top and bottom, that clip in which made getting the light off tougher. The case came with a hinge lock to prevent lifting it off. There is a place for a padlock as well to keep it locked to the side. It's plastic not steel so I know if someone wants in.... I do have a tonneau cover so it's out of sight. Also I can slide in 4x8 sheets of plywood without removing the case. Overall I'm happy with it!

    Shouldn't use impact without pre-threading a little bit on the second bracket. Could damage the pre-drilled threads easily by cross-threading. Otherwise it's a fine video. Little long / repetitive though.

    I have ordered two kits. I also contacted customer service about the three bolts, lock washers, and nuts required for the bracket used for the holding kit. What size and length do I need? I know they are a T40 head with a 13mm nut, but what length? The four T30 head screws not received in either kit? Please let me know so I can go purchase them, since you don't have all the required hardware in the two kits I received. Watch the video from 3:00 / 8:38 to 6:00 / 8:38 to see what I am missing. Thank you.

    It works perfectly. I love it except I’d recommend definitely having power tools for the job just like this video. It was a bitch for me because I had to use a screwdriver with the torx attachment. And unscrewing the clear assembly where The front 4 screws go was terrible to get off. Super tight screws.

  • @nanomage

    Couple things to be aware of.
    A) With UnderCover's model it's their system OR the boxlink or other cargo management system for that slot. You cannot have both.
    B) Trust that lock at your peril, if you know the first things about locks even a bump key opens it in moments, if you don't know the first thing about locks a screwdriver in the key slot and a hammer whallop or two will also allow you to open it without problems (tested when I switched trucks and the old swing cases didn't fit the new one, I do a fair bit of security consultancy work and wanted to know). Do not store anything in these that you care about without a quality cover on your bed.
    C) Competitor models have a carrying handle so the case can be used for outings such as fishing trips, hunting supplies etc. For some reason Undercover chose to design their case without this.

    • @sammas7440
      @sammas7440 5 лет назад

      Good point, I wish this had a carry handle.

    • @bambamnj
      @bambamnj 4 года назад +2

      A.) I was wondering about the Boxlink brackets myself. It wasn't mentioned in this video and I wasn't sure if it was possible to have the Boxlink bracket installed under the bracket for the swing box and still be able to install Boxlink options. If this were true then it would just be a matter of removing the swing box and then installing your Boxlink options.
      B.) I would be less concerned about someone breaking into the lock and more concerned as to whether someone can just pop the box out and lift it off the pins since it didn't seem there was anything other than gravity keeping the box on the pins.

  • @Merritt3246
    @Merritt3246 3 года назад

    So, the bracket that is put on last, with the 4 screws in the side, are not threaded, the bolts cut threads. There is also a place for a padlock on the hinge bracket.

  • @artramirez3506
    @artramirez3506 7 месяцев назад

    What are those 4 cutout sections on the side of the box used for? I've seen most of those boxes have those so I was wondering what they were for. Thanks.

  • @Sagittarius-88

    This is exactly the kind of storage I'm looking for, but the price point is way off for these things. 200 bucks a side for plastic construction? That's way too high for what these things are. I'd be curious to see how they hold up loaded under some off roading. To be fair, they are a good solution to the lack of compartmentalized storage on the F150s. Given the fact that these things are plastic as well as black, long term warpage is also a concern with exposure to sunlight. I'd like to see a "one year later" video by someone who uses these things on a regular basis. If the durability is there, that would at least justify the price to an extent.
