My honest sincere opinion is Christian Pulisic is an improved version of Landon Donovan who was the best former USA men's national team player. I think over the years slowly the men's been trying to improve with players like Alexi Lalas, Cobi Jones, Clint Mathis, Tim Howard and some others like Claudio Reyna trying to improve the team. Many years ago the USA men's national back in 1930 in the first Fifa world cup won third place in Uruguay 1930 and had a Silver and Bronze medal win in the Olympics more then 100 years ago. The USA has a big chance sharing the home team advantage with Mexico and Canada to show what they got in 2026 being already qualified. The USA women are an elite national team, while the men are hovering around maybe top 15 at best compared to the other elite national teams of the world. The Copa America was a disappointment for the USA but some elite national teams too are struggling. All teams go through phases.
He is an improved version of Landon Donovan but done respectable playing for AC Milan and Chelsea in his career and even winning a champions league and Fifa club world cup with Chelsea as an American player. USMNT still has a lot of work to do to improve to build up its men's program. Women's program seems to be up there among the elite, but the USA has not landed there yet as they still lack some experience in terms of an elite national team in the men's game
@@dirtbag3736 I followed many national teams over the years and I would say Christian Pulisic and Landon Donovan are around the same level. Both would be the best men's players in the USA team today. Men's team has had its ups and downs but made big improvements over the years, but what it is lacking is some real skills to really impress. The USA men's team maybe around top 15 but it is not there yet among elite teams. Keep in mind even the elite national teams go through bad phases and struggle and this includes some famous world cup champion teams.
@@dirtbag3736 Sometimes amazing talents and really exceptional players come out of nowhere from some part of the world, and we never know when we will see something like that with the USMNT. Generally speaking the traditional powerhouse elite schools of the game have been known to produce world class elite players. Perhaps one day the USA can be up there, but it is not there yet. I think from a tradition point of view the USA is a super power in the Summer Olympics and Winter Olympic sports, baseball, basketball, Football or American Football. With the exception of the women's division in the game, the USMNT still is looking to make a name for itself one day. If they are able to do it in the future only time will tell.
@@dirtbag3736 Realistically at best USA men's team at most would be a top 15 in the Fifa world rankings but still far away from elite national teams. From another perspective keep in mind there are 200 national teams in the world, so it isn't something too bad it is just competing with the heavyweights that is something the USA still needs more experience. I don't feel the USA is really a soccer-football country yet.
Over the years the men's team has been working to recover the USA men's program which has had a hard time competing unlike the women's program which is world's elite. Given strong competition and after missing out from the world cups 1950-1986 and that embarrassing failure of 2018, the USA men's team has made some improvements although they tripped up on some competitions in North America they seem to be a top team against Mexico in the Gold Cup and Nations league which is the North American championship practically unlike the Copa America which really been the championship of South America and only recently the championship of all the America's. Christian Pulisic for me is an improved version of Landon Donovan so he does well to help the national team as captain America. He is currently the best player in the United States of America's men's team. USMNT overall maybe they are really around top 15 at most but not near the elite teams. It is good that he is gaining experience in Europe and USA is growing their own league with the MLS to stay competitive with the rest of the world.
He is a very good player but he is not world class. A world class player would be starting & playing or being sought after by the best teams in the world. He had numerous opportunities at Chelsea under different managers and they all benched him & then sold him. The Italian league is a good league but it's not the league it used to be in it's prime and he seems to have found his level playing in Italy I don't see why people always seem to have to put all this pressure on the guy. I get it you're desperate to have that world class player from America but it's not him, So just just let him be a good player he is.
Best comment I’ve seen in a while regarding this guy & Americans, he’s doing a great job at Milan but Americans are just desperate to have that world class player. He’s got a long way to be close to the elite.
AC Milan was a semifinalist in the UCL 18 months ago. They are an elite team He is a guaranteed starter every game for them. By definition that means he is world class Now is he a top 5 player on the planet right now? No.
So long as UMSNT doesn't truly build a foundation at age 5, theyll never compete on an international stage. At the very best, they can hope a scout sees some youth at invites them to academies in europe before age 10. Im an expat been living in spain since 2015 here in Madrid. The kids under 13 in la liga would DESTROY us players in high school. They sign him at 5,6 years old and by the time they are preteens they are in boarding schools that focus fulltime on the sport. IMG Academy in US has the right idea with this, but until they form serious, national level boarding programs and get themselves invited to international tournaments more often or, at the very least, invited to summer youth camps in europe or latin america, theyll always be behind.
There is absolutely no way that Pulisic is a top 25 player in the world. That is flat out ludicrous. World class? Maybe if he keeps this form up all season. Not yet though.
I thought at one time, way back in the day Jozy Altidore could've been something. After his stint in La Liga it was evident he wasn't going to be that guy.
Pulisic, could not hack it in the Premier league. The evidence is there for all to see. But he does seem to have found his level in Serie A, so what’s the fuss? To suggest he is a world class player is laughable. To also suggest he could slot into teams like Man City, isn’t just laughable, its hilarious!!….Alexi Lalas and his wannabe American buddy Mosse, are nothing but a couple of circus clowns!

Best american? Yes. Good Player? yes. Great Player? Eh. If anything, he's a blueprint for the next generation that want to be considered at the very best. The blueprint for me is: would Real Madrid want him? They are the pinnacle club. I'd say he peaked out in 2019-2021. He's on a good team in AC Milan right now, which is a good fit. He's not aggressive enough for EPL again and he's not fast enough or have enough skillset for La Liga. He did well at Dortmund, whom are always great at developing youth. Serie A is a perfect career fit for him, IMO.
The waffle spurting from the American talking heads about Pulisic is so amusing. They are so desperate to have their own " Bobby Moore". Stop looking across the pond for legitimacy and for that matter, inspiration. The Premier League didn't suit the player. End of. It wasnt for him. John Stones clattered him and he left. He's now somewhere where the pace is slower and less physical. Get over it. Sidebar the media attempts to hype up the player is to the detriment of the wider pool and those hoping to break through. Football isnt about the face on the tea towels. Mercifully Poch knows that.
