I saw a Mexico team lose to Uruguay in a similar lackluster performance then bounce back & play a very hard fought match vs Brazil (albeit with most of their starters on the bench). I’ll use that as a benchmark, if we win or draw it could be a much better leap forward to what this teams potential could be - if we lose in another embarrassing trouncing then I agree, Berhalter should go. The goal is to win a World Cup, with the amount of soccer being played in America, there is no excuse to place the best talent out there. Go USA 🇺🇸⚽️🇺🇸

You're 100 percent correct. The current Colombian coach has not lost a match ever since he took over . Colombia just got out of not classifying for the last world cup when he did. In football you're either good or not. It takes just about 3 to 4 matches to know.

@@gaw862 Very puzzling indeed. I am not a former professional soccer/football player like Alexis but I come from a country where football is almost a religion and the idea US can win a world cup for me is more than delusional, it's just pure arrogance. I know there are countries that have ,and had, way more talented players than USA ever had and they have not be able to win a world cup. Best examples are Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal.
I understand Alexis is not a player but a media guy now and he had to say things like that but at this point he's looking like the media in Mexico, who pumped the team at the same level as Brazil or Argentina until they get their shower of reality in any given game.

"Following Saturday's 5-1 result, the USMNT is 3-14-5 all-time against Colombia, with the team’s last win coming in a 3-0 victory on March 9, 2005 in Fullerton, Calif. That's 19 years! The team’s eight- match winless streak against Los Cafeteros is currently the second longest of any opponent after Brazil (11 matches)."
The US cannot underestimate teams like Colombia that have been pumping out great football players for over 40 years. Colombia is ranked third in exporting players around the world in the Americas (over 467), only below Brazil (first) and Argentina ( second). Uruguay is ranked 4th, and the US is 5th. What's more, most of those players playing abroad are important to their teams such as Chicho Arango or Cucho Hernandez just to name a couple from the MLS.
The US needs to humble down, focus on their game and start working their butts off!

the issue is that the manager fails to set the right expectations. We could say that the USMNT and Colombia had pretty much similar talent judging by the presence of players in Europe and the roles they play. However, this Colombia team has had a longer process under coaches that had a clear vision of how they want to play. Pekerman did a great job at the helm and Lorenzo was his assistant back then. Now he took the main job (after a disastrous hiatus with Queiroz and Rueda) and continued the idea that made them successful in WCs 2014/18, adding more tweaks to suit the style of the talent he has. It looks like in silence and with work, this Colombia team is paving a way for good results (22 games unbeaten - longest streak in the world, actually).
Berhalter has been 5+ years in charge of the USMNT and I am yet to see a match that convinces me that he's the right person in charge. While the players are the ones on the pitch to execute the ideas of the coach, it is obvious that this coach is yet to have solid ideas and we're running out of time to build a team that can be a proper host of 2026 WC. The gap that is existing between UEFA/CONMEBOL with CONCACAF teams is growing bigger with time and the latter teams are yet to generate any solid answers. We went for Emma Hayes because UEFA more than caught up with the success of the USWNT and we needed someone that could help bridge that new gap that was evidenced in the last WC in Australia/NZ. Why aren't we going for top-tier European/South American coaches? Is the PTSD from Klinsmann's appointment that severe?

To put any of the blame on Matt Turner is being lazy. Too many low level defensive mistakes. When a team start giving the ball away cheaply, not only is it dangerous, but it build confidence in appoints determination to pressure. And that's exactly what happened. Colombia were determined to win balls on opposing side. Trying to connect a 25 yard pass to your midfield when you have better options is being lazy.

Any proper footballing nation would not allow a coach to stay on board after these results.
Fire the coach and pay whatever it takes to get a proper coach. Enough of the BS.

The players couldn’t play simple. The cbs can’t even play from the back

We all need to lower our expectations…sure these guys all play in Europe, great. But none of them are stars or most aren’t even consistent starters…none would be missed by their club team if they left. And yes that goes for Pulisic too. Our team is NOT who the american soccer media thinks they are whether we have greg as the coach or someone else

No 'swagger' ? How bout the defender standing on his eighteen looking all day to do a little left to right pass 25yds straight up the MIDDLE of the field then he had the gall to just stand there and complain that the guy he was passing to didn't come back for his lunatic hospital pass and while crying and doing nothing his teammates try to stop Colombia from scoring AGAIN, already DOWN 4-1!
I'd call that a whole heck of a lot of 'swag'.
All the kids got it these days.

If Berhalter is for gone after this... there is simply no hope for the US for the US host world cup! The reality is Colombia played half gas... Colombia at full force would have been 10-0!!

I think we need to stop setting unrealistic expectations for this cycle of USMNT players. This group isn't the best the US ever produced (that is clearly the 2002 WC squad), and likely isn't even in top 5 of previous cycles. I think we need to set expectations of just getting out of a WC group is realistic expectation.

*🇺🇸 do the usual... Go to the border and ask the undocumented youth:* "do you know how to play soccer?" *and you give them the Residence Card as long as they win games, but if they lose*

Pulisic Is Not A Good Player Why Gregg Berhalter Is Not Putting Him On The Banch, Second Question is Why Gregg Berhalter Favors His Friend Pulisic Forward No 10 Position Captain
