The mess halls would make great captains quarters. Small room bathroom. room with the galley as kitchen and dining. main area living space and final room as bunkroom.
With the change in ship decoration, things are absolutely wanting for FO4-style outpost/settlement DLC that introduce not only honest-to-god snappable bulkheads and furnishings, but themed elements to address the homogeneity between factions.
yeah, over-all if they started with this concept and customized the inside of "pirate" and "spacer" ships especially to look like, well, pirates live in them...
Yanno, the first thought i had with seeing all these new empty habs, is its now possible to actually have a more "luxury" sort of interior in a way we never had before. Obviously, it's not going to be nearly as gaudy or luxurious as the Fortuna or a Trident Cruise liner, but i bet there's plenty of creative freedom to do some fun designs. Heck my instincts on those hopetech cargo halls was "Crimson Fleet Crew Hangout", like an on-board bar away from The Plank.
The empty habs are nice. I do hope they add a way to control where ladders/doors are. Beyond that I hope they add an option to go through the landing cinematic every time you land. It was always immersion breaking to land and the game just plonk you down outside your ship.
What was fun about checking to see if a pool table would look good under that weird light in the Nova Galactic empty mess hall is, the reason that light is there is it's the same base hab as their non-empty living quarters, which has a pool table in that spot. :D
The walking tour is useful for checking the lighting and the labeling is great for scrubbing the video to compare spaces. Placeable bulkhead partitions would be nice for large spaces or even just repurposing smaller ones.
The small restroom or head in the messhall is something that is a must for me. What is a must, but sadly not available right now, is the fridges with glass doors. I actually thought they would be in the empty messhalls but inside they would be completely empty. Some larger containers in them would be better if they could be taken out of the fridge. The smaller containers you can grab and move them out of the fridges.
The issue with the ladders you are having is that the ladders have a max height/floor level they can go through. So where you were getting pushed off the ladder, that is where one ladder ended and another ladder started
There's a hard limit on ladder height. I have a 7 deck tall ship and i always get off on deck 5 or 6. i can't remember. Its just the limit of the ladder, even though visually it does continue up. You just need to get off when it forces you to and then remount the ladder to go up. Thanks for doing this work for us!
Judicial use of windows might get rid of some shelving units and allow the builder to create even more useful interior layouts. Perhaps even the stock 1x1s. I'm on Xbox, so I don't have access yet to test.
Especially since I saw someone who was testing say that since the empty habd make doors everywhere they can. So you can use like a 3x1 as a hallway then connect a bunch of 1x1s or 2x1s as rooms that don’t connect to each other hopefully
@@gamedammeister2934 I had this exact thought, a 3x1 with (4) 1x1's and something in between the 1x1's on each side to prevent another Door spawn. The "Hallway" 3x1 could easily be the central hub with crafting stations and what not while the 1x1's are private rooms, a full Bathroom, a "Cinema", etc.
@@thebashar Oh I like them also it's just super tedious to place every single one (17 in this video, 26 in the next). It's probably a ~5-10 minute process for EACH one. Now, is that because I'm still a novice at video/photo editing, most likely yes.
Just the other day I saw a free Creations for placable interior wars and *doors* for outposts and ships. (not doors between habs to be clear, but doors for the new walls. Finally you can have a bathroom with a door) Might be something to show off at some point in the future, it would be perfect for these large empty habs.
It would indeed and I've watched her video on it, she did a fantastic job on the Creation, though I doubt I could make a video superior to the actual Author of the Mod made. Here's her video: ruclips.net/video/F5_G14QDWS4/видео.htmlsi=9REceT1RbgujWIiK
@@delindsay I was a submariner in a past life and there seems to be a lot of overlap with that life and how Starfield handles its ships, it's one of the reasons I like the game. But, if you ever have any questions about nomenclature you may ask me.
These vids are great! Have you tested whether we are still limited to only 6 mannequins? That is such a pain in the house I have. I appreciate that they allowed us to decorate on our own, but it looks like we are only able to place the same items that you can place in your home/apartment if you have one. You can't decorate with the items that came with the original furnished habs. All that geeky techy stuff that you can't use but still looks cool. Also, I understand wanting to place things wherever you want (hanging items on walls, getting a couch close to walls, etc) and being frustrated with curves and support beams, but this probably wouldn't happen in a real ship and is a moot point. Those pretend "in world" Designers and engineers shaped walls to hold wiring, ducting, ships systems, etc. Remember, the Millennium Falcon has those fantastic curved wall hallways, and Chewie and Han don't complain... :) And compartmentalizing is a nature of ships. Not every ship has giant open spaces. I guess a work around would be having walls you can move. That way you can divide up rooms with good looking walls instead of the trashy office dividers.
@@delindsay Ya. I wanted to display all the different Helmets, Packs and Suits you can acquire, but can only do 6. It would make a great museum display room. Keep up the AWESOME work.

Not on this build on Beta, 1.11.33. Hopefully in the future they will. But yes, you CAN still use them for other things because you can fully decorate OG Habs, just can't move stuff around.
Since December I’ve only played this for about 40 minutes, I don’t think this update is going to get me to play it again anytime soon. In my defence I’m up to a new game +10 and almost 700 hours
I'm surprisingly still just under 400 hours. I say surprisingly because we all know the rabbit hole of designing/building Ships and how the time goes when doing so. I don't know if this patch will fully bring me back or just for videos of the new content but at least it's a step in the right direction.

@delindsay yes I did scroll, but I found the problem. Somehow, a mod that hides them got installed, I never installed it but it was in my Vortex mod list. I deleted it and it came back and then it disappeared again, yet the mod is deleted.
Also very limited in the way of getting from one floor to another. Even if it were just for transport of food containers from the cargo hall hab up to the mess hall hab.
