I'm happy about the empty Habs because I play solo runs and like to see how small I can make my ships. I can now put all the bare basics I want into one hab.
Yeah I might try a small fighter now instead of my giant tank ships. I completely changed the razerleaf, and now it's called ragnorak cause it's the end of anything I get in a fight with. Also a nice touch when the spacers run away.
@CharlesVanexX I've done two small ships on my solo run so far. My favorite has the only non-cockpit interior space being a companion way with a bed and weapon racks in it. Small and efficient. The other uses an empty 2x1 with a bed, research center, every crafting table, and every other space crammed with storage containers. Who says you can't have a lot of cargo on a one-many fighter?
The bonus being tied to the hab type is great! Now you don't have to have a control center for crew size AND living quarters to give them beds. Get an empty control room or battle station and furnish it like a living quarters. The functionality of two or three Habs all in one.
This exactly. On this "Ship jig" I have a normal and empty 2x1 Control Stations underneath. The normal one I stuck a few Workstations in, the empty one is their Living Quarters with a seating area, beds and a bathroom. And I still get the +4 Crew each from them.
Great vid. I just googled to find out what each hab gives in terms of bonuses, crew and passenger slots, etc. As one of the previous people commented, I'm now going to redesign my main ship to reduce the number of habs as much as possible while still gaining those benefits.
Very small detail but the fact that we got an empty version of the HopeTech 2x2 AIO means they finally made the furnished one usable. It was previously in the game but unlisted and could only be seen on derelicts. :D
With how compartmentalized the HopeTech & Taiyo computer cores are, they would also make for great Engineering sections, like have whatever decorative machinery & consoles all over the place.
I put a Stroud 3x3 empty mess hall in my ship and it came with 2 free "security" guards. They will talk to you but dont do anything else. Full battle kit.
-Frustratingly, there isn't a Stroud Empty Cargo Hall in the update.- Edited to add: found it. Kinda hard to find when the name doesn't include "Empty."
I can really see myself abusing this new system and sticking primarily to habs that provide crew capacity or passenger capacity. I'm not sure if I'll ever use a dedicated Science, Infirmary, or Workshop hab ever again... rather instead just put those station into the crew and passenger habs. Ohhh... to take one of those 2x2 computer cores or living quarters and just turn it into larger and more open infirmary. The opportunities for customization are just so good now. Granted it would help if Bethesda would clean up a little more and like get rid of the idle markers for NPCs to interact with alongside the furnishings they removed... as seen in that one battle station. All the consoles and furniture are gone, but the idle markers aren't.
This addition plus (hopefully) Bethesda adds an ability for us to manually place Doors/Ladders wherever we want instead of the game doing it would make for a much better game. Then all they'd really need to do is keep fixing bugs, keep adding things for us to decorate with and DLC's like what's coming this Fall.
The non working beds in the Deimos brig isn't such a problem. Throw a sleeping bag on the bed platform. They don't look like they've got any bedding anyways.
I have tested it and if you move your hab with storage containers in it they to will move with the hab. Also, if you delete/sell a hab with storage containers containing items the items will be returned to your ships storage. That is great news for making 1x1 empty rooms full of storage! The items are not lost on accidental deletion. Just a lot of time sorting!
Also. You can just rotate from 'empty' to 'regular ', it removes the containers and dumps contents to cargo. And same regular to empty. Now I can dump 20,000 kg into my 200kg cargo in 1 room not a monster 8x4x4 slab of a n.g. control room ship :-)
Many do and funny story, the reason these now have the Hab Tags in them is because I knew I'd have to answer the question "what are those tunnels you're running through" a million times now that I'm doing Hab comparison videos again so that's what started the idea. Then I just figured might as well do it for ALL Habs I'm in (except unrelated 1x1's and what not).
@@delindsay my problem is that I can only make ships that resemble slabs of concrete, and every time I try to use them it just looks like broken slabs with rebar 🤣
@@delindsay Well, the reference to everything and the kitchen sink is an old saying, but I was referencing the kitchen sink comment during that Stroud-Eklund mission where you helped design a ship (I forgot the name, sorry).
In my opinion the ladder should be in one location. You stack another hab and the ladder simply extends. Two ladders in one room just obstructs an extra area.
That's because the Ship builder won't allow me to go high enough. Once you get to 5 Habs, you have little option but slab them like you see here or alt which end as you go vertically like in the 3x1 video I just recorded for tomorrow. It's a game limitation unfortunately.
Have you seen the place doors mod? It is awesome. No habs have doors or ladders at all. You place them as you build your ship. It works great. Now my ship has doors and ladders where I want them notvwhere SF's stupid algorithm puts them.
I haven’t tried that yet but that sounds like a no brainer to add to the game. Hopefully Bethesda is looking at that. You can’t really enjoy ship building imo without that.
I know about it yes, but am waiting on the Geck to drop for official Mod support. I become a bit of a Mod whore, had well over 100 in Fallout 4 and other BGS games. Though, I will still be making (some at least) videos fully vanilla for those who want that. I do also plan to make videos about Mods later on, not in the vein of MXR (the Legend) but specific to how it aids Ship/Outpost building.
@@Ray-dl5mp 100% guarantee BGS knows we all want manual Door/Ladder placement but also have a feeling they're going to let Modders deal with it, which is sad.
@14:49 nova galactic brig... a brig head should not have a door! No brig/jail should have a door on the latrines so prisoners cant do stuff they shouldn't be doing like making a shiv or some shit right?? Jails irl dont have doors on toilets for that reason (not that i know from experience its just common knowledge lol) yeah gotta think outside of the box
Are the Empty habs part of, and in the vanilla game or are they part of a mod? If it's a mod is it for Xbox Series X? I'm working on doing a small and fast military transport ship and need empty habs for it. lol you asked if the nova galactic interns remove the door? It's a brig. Prisoners don't get doors so they can't hide. It's like a real prison with the open bathroom in the prison cell. It's realistic immersion at its best lol
It has to do with the Photo Mode lighting bug I believe. I even caught it on video and submitted it directly to Bethesda Support, not change once it hit Live.
