In reality, DID is a disorder that occurs to help people deal with incredibly traumatizing situations. For many people DID is a struggle but many others find comfort in knowing that there's people who understand what you've been through and were formed in order to help you deal with it. It feels like all representation we have in media of DID always has it portrayed as a complete tragedy, however many people with the disorder come to live relatively normal lives. :)
I don’t understand why actors want to recreate this. Why put yourself through similar trauma just to play a role and expect no lasting consequences from it. Shit is sad.
I can't remember if it's in the video or not but Tom Holland said he's taking a year off acting after this role to help the damage that occurred acting as Billy Milligan :/
It’s heartbreaking, but I’m proud of Tom for committing to the role because it shines a light on a real disorder that people actually have to live with.
@daniellebe66021 EXACTLY! This is why TRUE actors do this. You can't do this shit if you just want a check. This is something that needs and deserves more attention to understanding everything. You don't need to agree with them, but sometimes people don't believe shit without seeing it.
I can see this being a real complicated thing from a legal perspective. How do you know if it's a really condition or if they're faking? Obviously they could be faking because look what Tom Holland Did. He was faking every character, convincingly (Or James McAvoy in Split - It can be done), So maybe maybe can. But at the same time if it's a real issue the person shouldn't just be thrown in a cell. Especially when this is almost exclusively a result of extreme sexual trauma as a young kid. I don't think they should just walk free, but the should receive help from psychologist while in an appropriate Hospital.
It really is a losing battle for the judge. If you access his mental health plea he's not getting the punishment for the crime. If you don't accept it you could essentially be placing a mentally ill person in a prison where they'll only get worse and gain more trauma :/
@@effyourreviewToo bad prisons are supposed to be for reform and not punishment. Obviously it doesn't work like that in the real world but a judge should never be trying to punish someone
