  • In this video, Dr. Andrew Nordine, UnityPoint Health St. Luke's Hospital, a neonatologist in Cedar Rapids, Iowa talks about the importance of choosing a hospital before you deliver your baby.
Being a parent is all about making decisions. One of the first decisions you have to make is where you are going to deliver your child.
We all hope for the best delivery but the fact is nearly one in 10 babies is going to need extra help - and that extra help can only be provided in the NICU.
NICU stands for neonatal intensive care unit. It's the unit where babies receive specialized care right after they're born. Care is provided by team and all of those specialists bring the best for your baby.
We like to say that the point of UNITY is you - what we mean by that is that OUR team is working together to care for your child. It is absolutely critical to the baby being at the center of that care. As as UnityPoint Health neonatologist I consider it a unique privilege to be part of that.
