See Whataburger Field like never before from the cockpit of a T-45C in the diamond formation, during the 2024 Corpus Christi Hooks opening-day flyover. This was a lot of fun to fly and I was excited to capture the entire evolution from the brief to the landing. Let me know what you think in the comments.

You did a service and are still providing service. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, "You are fantastic at everything you do. Young men should strive to have a portion of your dedication. You're one hell of a recruiter and teacher."
Not many people have the ability to teach or coach. Some men/women are the best players in the world, but they have no idea how to teach/coach what they do. God gave you a gift.🇺🇲
Cheers!
Literally at the recruiting office right now (waiting on my appointment) watching this! This will be me in a few years.
Good luck! Marine Corps?
You're going to love it. Fly Navy!!
Wheres the queue? And is there a special one for a 49yr old non US citizen?
Good luck buddy! I hope you will become one!
@@jumpleadsx2 Air National Guards is your best bet
Pail: one of your best. Great camera and commentary. Thanks 🇺🇸
I'm not American, but dangnabit Pail if that didn't get me all fired-up! "I'll take my pie with a big ol' dollop of freedom, thank you."
FLY NAVY
Maybe as a follow-up episode you could tell us how the others got their call signs?
And flew in your front seat?
WOW
'Lota detail work for a (not so) simple fly over. Thanks
I use to be a crew chief on a F-15 demo team. The crowd will never know all the hard work and the number of people it takes to make something like this happen.
For real... I buried my father (87) last year (US. Marine Aviator 1st and Army Aviator 2nd. Retired Army LTC.) I knowingly disobeyed my dads last orders to me to keep his funeral simple and short. I requested and He received a full military and a fly over (choppers as it was his main gig). I did not receive conformation of the fly over till that morning and when I did, I threw out all my plans and worked with the Captain in charge to have everything completed in 30 mins. Being former Army (Dad handed my my first orders to proceed to The 101st.. 13Bravo 155) I handled it with aplomb and managed to obey the keep it "Short" part. I sure miss him a lot!
Congrats to being on the demo team. They just don't take anyone. They didn't have them in my day with the F-4.
Dude that's awesome, not many can say they were trusted for a fly over for an event! As always bro, I love the spectacular display of skill and flying!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Pail, former film director here, history of aerial work. You're a natural born pilot AND editor. Nice work.
Thanks!
Damn dog. That right wing is tight. By far the best airplane driver there.
@@briangoss1493 Being "tight" doesn't make him the best.
awesome, we got to see who does the flying and talking. Great to finally meet you Pail, my name is Jase, the pleasure is all mine. :)
Holy Freaking Cow! That was spectacular!!
Thanks for giving us a quick look at our favorite Jammer! I had to pause the video for a second to see you.
What you guys do is so incredible. Thank you so much for your service to our country.
Many blessings to you and your family!
Edit:
I'm not sure why, but I always get goosebumps whenever I watch one of your videos.
So cool of the military top brass to allow this absolute solid gold content to be published for public consumption!!
I love this channel. No fancy music or special effects. As an aerospace engineer, I love listening to all the specifics of how the aircrafts operates.
That video put the growler jams in a whole new catagory! Over the top good! Absolutely spectacular not only for the fans but us too! Thank you Pail for sharing all this! Fly Navy!
im from corpus and saw this spectacular fly over and as a avgeek i enjoyed getting pictures and videos!
Awesome video as usual Pail. From one vet to another...thank you for your service. I served in HS-11 and VA-75. Go Navy!!
Cheers!
Pail, Favorite Jam so far.
I predicted 'SERIOUS' epicness. I was wrong. I underestimated.
Nice to finally see the front of your face, rather than the back of your helmet.
Well done to all.
Fly Navy.
Cheers! And Fly Navy.
That was amazing! What a privilege to feel we are in the jump seat. Incredible how you get the timing right with the delay, and zoop straight over perfectly!! Thank you so much, gave me goosebumps 👍🏼
Pail, where do I even begin, but this was amazing, I think one of the best Jams you have put up, just so exciting to be right in the jet with you all, I do miss flying so much but this was so awesome to hear and see what it takes to do a flyover, Thank you so much to everyone and their hard work and especially you "Pail" thank you......Polly!
Thanks, Polly!
Thanks mate, I was a real treat to have you upload a fly by with USS Lexington CV-16 in the background only a few days shy the battle of the Coral Sea anniversary where USS Lexington CV-2 was lost. It was the skill and sacrifice of USN navy pilots that saved us in Australia that day back in 1942. It's not forgotten. Keep up the amazing work.
Outstanding! Thanks Pail, et al!
Great video, Pail! Well done to you and your wingmen.
Dad said you guys flew smartly, and he was very happy to see the Lexington make a cameo appearance, he did his qualifications aboard her in 1972. He said “I’m happy she’s in a safe place.”
Thanks again Pail for making my old man’s day.
Cheers!
That was awesome!! Pail, thank you for your service and for all the amazing content you put out. Fly Navy!!
Sound of Freedom!
Great video. Every time the Braves or Falcons have a flyover, sometimes staged out of Dobbins ARB, the Nextdoor message boards light up with “why were the military jets flying around?” Most are newer people who weren’t there when NAS Atlanta had Hornets or the ANG had Eagles or the Raptors were being made there. I miss those “sounds of freedom.”
The best fighter pilot channel hands down!
Yeaaaaaaa. LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos. And the feel that I’m in the backseat!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Keep them coming, p,ease.
Omg all of you are gorgeous. Wish more guys stayed clean cut.
😎
Great video. Those shelters.over the jets are nice. In the early 80s I spent many hot hours on that ramp.as.a.Plane.Captain and the Avionics Tech on the TA-4J. No covers to.work under. VT-21 was great duty. Looks.like.the hangar has.been well taken.care of. The ready room.was.on the end.of.the building.back.then. looks like you all came.down the ladder mid hangar.
I really enjoy this videos, this one was amazing! Fly navy!!
Bummer you can’t monetize this channel. You do a fantastic job explaining all the intricate details! Super entertaining!
Wow wow. That's nuts! So impressive team work.
That was a great video. When the content is AMAZING no need for extra fluff or drama. Love it.
I've wondered my whole life how its done. Thanks for the great demonstration!
Love the narration and this time it came from several vantage points! Fly Navy!
As an Air Force ground pounder with field maintenance, I cannot express how proud I am of you and your videos. I subscribed with pleasure. High tides and following seas to you and yours.
Thanks so much for sharing! So cool to see all the behind the scenes. It's funny to think that while people on the field are like "oop, we're a bit behind," you guys are doing a hard turn and burn to time it correctly 😂 (also no idea if that's the correct terminology but it does sound cool)
You've outdone yourself again, amigo. A more complex story, full of twists and turns, last minute adjustments, timed to perfection and...all beautifully told. I take my hat off to you. Please keep up the good work.
Great Vid, thanks for sharing. Love the Goshawk. Have a large RC one we call the Lonestsr Hawk 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Growler Jams just makes the day better.
💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I realize that times change and there is no stopping that but it hurts my heart to see civilians not military folks doing everything. Being a plane captain was attached to a specific aircraft ( mine was KA6D 523 VA-52) was an honor.
Thanx for sharing
Loved the video Pail. I was Air Force, aircraft mechanic for 52 years.
TYFYS.
Awesome video! I have often wondered how these worked. Thank you so much for sharing and thank you for your service.
I think that’s the most informative video you’ve done yet. Excellent. Thank you from the Royal Air Force
Cheers!
THAT, WAS, AWESOME!!!!!!! Your Jams just keep getting better and better every time. Smiling and grinning ear to ear the whole time. Absolutely incredible editing making viewers feel like they’re there. Signature Jam my friend. FLY NAVY!!!! 🤙🤙🤙
Great team job 👏👏👏
Best Jam yet. Keep them coming!!!
one of the best from Pail. As a retired maintainer, nice to see the work needed to get the jet in the air. Also kinda sad not to sailors anyhere to be found on the ground, just contractors
I was wondering about that. The guys on the ground given their “appearance”, I figured they couldn’t be active duty military. So you’re saying they depend on civilian contractors to do this function for them?
Out standing video. im 17 and live in Corpus. That day i was watching radar and listening to app/departure (120.9) and noticed the call of rusty 11 flight of 4 come through. i thought it was very interesting so i kept listening the saw yall on radar. went outside and got to see yall fly over. my goal is after highschool to go to college and get my degree and either join the navy or coastguard and become a pilot. thanks for the amazing video!
Thanks for this. This retired Marine has seen countless fly-overs, and has always wondered the myriad things that take place behind the scenes.
I have 1 word. AWESOME
Oh yeah!! Two of my favorite things in life..... Baseball and Jets!! Well done on the perfectly timed diamond formation!!
I know the audio was from the field, but I still got goosebumps when I heard the National Anthem watching you flyover. That was hot
That was really freakin cool! Thanks for sharing...
I think I ran into Drama last week while working at KSDL. Great guy!
That was him!
dream job; hope to emmigrate to the states to be able to do it for real. Thanks for the killer content. Big up from Jamaica
We have the “Flyover Specials” here - the B-2. The Chiefs, Royals and the daily aviation routine make it cool to see them. And they are spectacular. I even know a guy - my son - his bread and butter - BUT - there is nothing like Naval Aviation. Grew up in the Navy, Naval Aviation and will always love it. Thanks Pail.
Cheers!
As always, much love
Go Navy
Great video. Loved it!!! So cool to see how those field flyovers are done.
Outstanding!!!!! Never thought about the complex timing involved. Well done
Very cool perspective and explanation! Thanks!
Another excellent "FLY NAVY" production! Your calm but assertive voice reminds me of sitting in on the BLUE ANGELS airshow brief when I was an "Air Boss" for civilian air shows. The "BOSS" went through each rehearsed maneuver with that same kind of voice. It was comforting to listen to the cadence of the maneuvers spoken by the "BOSS," knowing that the same tone and cadence would be heard in each crafts radios. The performance they flew was perfect; as always.
That was totally Rad
Fantastic!
this was the best one you have ever done Pail ! Great in cockpit photography and narrative. super ! thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Very nicely done. Fly Navy!
This is probably your best video yet. It provides a great behind the scenes view of flyovers that most never see. Keep up the good work. BZ
I'm in the Video!!!! I was the first row behind home plate with my neighbors and wife. Good to see a hornet driver video fly T45s. I did maintenance on the hornet for 27 years.
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
No name guy...is "Scarf". Let it roll...
FLY NAVY!
Great video, as always. Thanks, Pail!
A masterful video. easily professional level, enhanced by that uniquely mellifluous Pail commentary. Now we know how such incredible split second timing is achieved. Keep 'em coming!
Awesome video! Well done, Gents!
Man, I got tears in my eyes just before the anthem ended..
Another awesome video. One that puts you right in the middle of the action Love it keep them coming!
Accolades are not enough Pail for the effort you put into these Jams. Thank you so much and Fly Navy !!
Muito legal
Great work, and thanks for sharing this was cool to see!
Woot! My local (central Texas Hillcountry) MLB Astros' AA crew CC Hooks! Good on you fellas for representing and "literally adapting on the fly!" Top Shelf ❤⚓🖖
One of the best vids I've watched today! It was great to see it from the Pilots perspective! Fly navy!
What a great group of young men, Thank you for your service! (and letting us in on some of what you do).
the Crowd was the real stars of the video..quiet, repectful..hands over their hearts.and big cheers at the flyover..gave me some goosebumps.and National Pride..and have a question..when will 'new guy' get his moniker..coul you plz do a video on that process..just love this stuff..ty
Just Great! More beers -
Wow! That was amazing! Greetings from Spain!
Pail, that was superb! What a great video to watch on a Friday! Thanks man
Richard thanks so much for this video, it confirms what I’ve learned (about rolls) so far. The stick position is quite helpful. I’m doing them reasonably well on the sim, now I just need to brave it with one of my helis at the field!
🤔
@@GrowlerJams yeah sorry about that - I was replying to one of my r/c model heli
buddies. But I love your videos too!
A Marine jet in the lead. Semper fi. Well done all.
if you watch it again you’ll see that all the T-45s are marked MARINES on the right of the fuselage and NAVY on the left side.
Excellent video Pail, and its good to put a face to a name. And good to see your colleagues. Just love the camaraderie of you guys. Just brilliant, every one of you.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Pail, I don't know what Admiral or CO you bribed to let you post this stuff, but give them a thanks. Thanks to you too, awesome content.
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Thank you for this wonderful backstage video! I was always wondering how such a great formation is planned so that it reaches the loacation of the flyover just in time! Now we know! Great editing and narration!!
Now how did I miss this? I must've been sound asleep for the last 48 hours!
Terrific explanation as always, Sir. From start to finish, you break it down for the rest of us in that excellent teacher voice.
On a side note; I'm positive there are many comments that say how much work goes into making these events happen. I've seen several of these kinds of videos but I have to tell you, this is the best of the bunch, and I've seen some good ones.
FLY NAVY!!
Awesome, I always wondered how flyovers work.
this is all so important. It keeps the mission high on everyone's minds. It brings in recruits and it translates to the battlefield.
I truly have never understood how flyovers are timed.
Thank you!!
I mean I still am in complete and total awe that it works, but it does make more sense.
Wondering if larger events like the Super Bowl are almost easier because everything really has to be on time.
Don’t think so, someone on the ground always screws something up.
@@GrowlerJams Heard 👍🏻
Former VT-27 instructor - enjoyed the video
💪🏻
Nice! Tight formation, ToT. The only time I did something like that was dropping jumpers over an air show in Klamath Falls, Oregon. A U2 did a flyover first and we were momentarily next to it at about 10k feet. Seeing a U2 in flight isn't something you see every day. Dropped our jumpers, ToT. No formation work on this one, but still satisfying.
So very cool to hear and see you narrate this - thanks for sharing Pail and what an honor to overfly following the national anthem! Fly Navy - although I did see Marines on the sides of some of those Hawks 😎
The jets have Navy painted on one side and Marines on the other.
@@GrowlerJams very cool just messing around - Bravo Zulu as always!
😂
Fan - freakin' - tastic! You have outdone yourself, Pail...best jam of the year RIGHT HERE...
I cannot appreciate your videos any more! I am currently in the pipeline to become a naval aviator through the STA-21 program. Thanks for the great content and the life looking forward!
Watch out Blue Angels ..that looked like a ton of fun and you all looked pretty pumped. Formation looked sweet as when you flew over. CONGRATULATIONS🎉, hope you get to do that again.
Those jets sure are pretty.
Well done ❤❤❤❤❤
New Growler Jams video up. It's a great day!!
Excellent video. As informative as usual and well put together. I love the support you have from the Navy. Things like this can only paint them in a good light.
