I remember you sharing this. I fell off my chair when you said 3 years. Wow time flies. Glad you went with safety first. Did anyone else notice how clean and shiny it is. What a monkey. Best wishes
Glad to see you've still got the Monkey. Those are some pretty cool mods you've made to it. It's good to see you're finally getting a chance to enjoy it.
Sandro Its great to see the Honda Monkey back The monkey still looks true to the original even with the moods Just remember Happiness isn't AROUND the corner Happiness is the CORNER In sandro we trust
I added a centerstand from T-Rex, but may take it back off since it is very easy to hit the ground while cornering (and I have a rear stand for chain lubes). I added a Givi Monolock adapter to my off-brand rear rack and can switch my too big top box between my bikes. I also added a cute little front rack. I’ll change the rear shocks soon and will probably also do the exhaust and tachometer.
Good day to you! Wah ! It is a so great Monkey modification ! Awesome ! I am Cross Cub Grandpa from Japan ! I am happy to see such a great video ! Have a nice day !
If you ever come up to Sydney, you should check out my ‘18 Monkey! I have the only Kitaco 181cc 4V DOHC in Australia - pushing 25hp. You definitely need to do the tyres & Ohlins front next!
I decided to go to the ohlins because traveling with the monkey and doing 250km in one day and now commute everyday 30 km. My back started to have pain due to poor road quality and poor shocks with over 180 lbs. other than that i will stay as close as possible stock.fuel efficiency and silence of use are a plus to me !
Nice vid, thanks! Since seeing your first vid on the Yoshi & Ohlin install, I bought a '22 model in yellow. The gold mirror extenders (with laser-etched chimp) were the first accessories to go on, followed by a lowered guard mount from Kitaco along with an 'Extenda fender' from Pyramid UK. I also have, still in boxes, an RS-3 Yoshi and Ohlins ready to install when TIME permits! 🙂 I got a chrome rack too, but it was the heavier type and a little larger but still in character with Monkey. I agree with keeping everything reversible as with such a beastie it is important due to the history of the bike. I didn't go the air intake or flash (I was VERY close though) as it just got too hard with MNNTHBX making it difficult to get the flash done in America and so forth - too hard, so I just went with Yoshi and settled on a K&N filter in the std box and some beautiful TYGA pure carbon fibre side panels for the airbox. Looks a treat! Thanks again for your vids and your bike looks fantastic - a real keeper that will probably outlast us both - as mine will too probably 🙂🙂
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed the video, I think it’s one of my favourites as it really highlights the beauty of this little bike. Sounds like you did some nice and similar mods so I know they sound compliment the bike well and I think once you get the exhaust and shocks on you’ll enjoy what they add, but even stock standard, it’s still a gem to be enjoyed!
I think due do different regulations, certain countries had varying light setups - the ones on my bike are standard on the Australian version and weren’t modified.
is the DHCMotering remap ECU flash just a chip that you plug in? Easy as that? This part of the video confused me, but great mods man. I think I will order my mirror extenders asap.
I think it’s given me the ability to use less fuel if I’m easy on the throttle and stick to the lower/mid rev range. But at the same time if I accelerate hard and ride the engine at higher RPMs it’s also given me the ability to use more fuel than stock. Honestly fuel consumption is so low on this bike regardless, but these mods can safe you fuel or make you use a little more depending on how you work the gears, throttle and rpm’s.
Most of the extra acceleration is noticed in the mid range, it’s not what you’ll call significant, but is moderately noticeable. I’d say the top speed increase was between 5-10km per hr - again it’s nothing crazy but taking some of the same routes I was able to hit slightly higher top speeds. I wouldn’t do these mods if significant speed increases are your goal, it’s more about enjoying how they make the bike sound, feel and add character.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailingThanks! Only thing I'd like to adjust to, is the ability to get to 100km/h gps speed on the highway. Bit of extra acceleration would be nice, but the main goal.
How many miles do you have on your Monkey? I have 5000 on my 2021 blue monkey in two years. l love the look of your bike. I modified mine some but I like to be quiet so stock exhaust for me. I also have the same tachometer and K&N filter. I live in Ohio and ride this bike whenever the weather permits. I have six bikes and this is still my favorite.
I’m glad you’re enjoying it, sounds like it brings you a lot joy! We here in Victoria Australia were lawfully banned from riding or driving for recreational purposes for the best part of two years so being that my Monkey isn’t a commuter (I take highways to work) it was largely stored over that period and has about 2500 on the odometer.
I absolutely love these but you should not get rid of the original parts (store them somewhere). Not sure if you ever had these in Australia but I have an original candy red Honda Dax with 2700km in my living room. It also has the chrome mudguards, exhaust and is in almost mint condition. A lot of kids here bought these in the 1970's and got rid of them when they had their drivers license and then bought a car. Later on they discovered that the bike was part of their youth and they regretted selling it. The design is timeless and you should keep it forever. I am very happy that Honda has decided to make these again. (btw I am in my 50's)
Good thing about being road registered is that the neighbours can't complain about noise But i understand and respect what you have done with the sound. What's the top speed on this Hog 🐷
I don't like these modifications. For me the original version is perfect, except, perhaps, the extension of the rearview mirror for safety. For me the rest is useless and very expensive. I prefer to keep the spirit of the original Monkey. I had a CBR 1000 that I sold to buy a T-MAX, it pushes well and it is made for that. But my Monkey 125 is not made for that. The Monkey is a "legend" like the Vespa or the Harley-Davidson for example, which should remain in its original state. This is just my opinion✌
Hi - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I have a 2020 yellow Monkey with 11000 miles. The chain should have 35mm play in the lower run and yes that makes it look somewhat loose. However, Honda specify that for a reason and with this play the gear changes are perfect and there are no transmission issues. It pays to be fastidious in adjusting the chain.
I remember you sharing this. I fell off my chair when you said 3 years. Wow time flies.

Thanks and yes, I’ve got some catching up to do in riding and enjoying it a little more!
Beautiful ride. Aside from the rack, I'd do the same mods. Though, seeing the side view of the Monkey, maybe I would get the rack! Thanks for sharing

Its a jewel - i hope it will come out in Philippines
Wondering if you get a UK dealer for the air intake and somewhere to flash the ECU as I have changed the exhaust.
damn son, ohlins racing shocks on a cheap little pitbike is like strapping a spaceX rocket to a turtle
Yes I know … it’s awesome right 🙂
Thanks for the update on your monkey is looking very smart and glad that you keep the old speedo as well 👍

Hey sandro your hiding a little secret think your a speed demon at times lol
Great video and bike buddy
Haha I think there’s a bit of that in all of us at times!
Love that intro! 🙂
can you provide info on the tail light and front/rear turn signal mod? those are clean and keep a vintage look
I think due do different regulations, certain countries had varying light setups - the ones on my bike are standard on the Australian version and weren’t modified.
They are stock everywhere except the US
Nice machine, I like tacho, exhaust and intake, back rack and your rego: BAANA = highway in finnish slang. I got 2022 model here in Qld. I love it.
19-21 is my favorite monkey
Why?
Yellow is my favorite
Great looking bike. How did all the upgrades affect the fuel consumption?
Thanks and I can’t say I’ve really noticed much of a difference in fuel consumption but I would expect it to drink a touch more than stock.
is the DHCMotering remap ECU flash just a chip that you plug in? Easy as that? This part of the video confused me, but great mods man. I think I will order my mirror extenders asap.
You either replace the ECU module with a flashed one from DHC or you send yours in and they flash it for you.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing ah ok. understood
Nice property.
Very cool!
Hi 👋 Sir, super duper cute bike.
Did the fuel mileage change in yoshi/air filter/stage 1 ecu combo configuration, and how much?
Thanks, but I honestly haven’t noticed a difference during normal riding - if I do keep the revs up then maybe it does drink 10-15% more at best.
Can you tell me how these upgrades have changed the gas consumption ?
I think it’s given me the ability to use less fuel if I’m easy on the throttle and stick to the lower/mid rev range. But at the same time if I accelerate hard and ride the engine at higher RPMs it’s also given me the ability to use more fuel than stock.

Hi great video. I've just bought a 2022 model. Do you know if the exhaust fits the 2022?
I’m fairly sure the same exhaust should fit the 2022, but it can’t hurt to ask the seller to double check.
Very cool
Did removing the fender extender cause any problems the rear tire slinging mud?
No, not that I’ve experienced
Nice!

the original shock absorbers are not good? the monkey breaks the pilot's back?

They are good, but rated for 60/70kg people

What's the top speed on this Hog 🐷
Just over 110kms is the fastest I’ve hit on a long slightly down hill stretch of road, but 90-100 is generally about it 🙂
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing That's quicker than my old Postie bike i had but that was just around the 6 acres block.
Riding with the passengers is comfortable..???
I’ve never ridden this bike with a passenger, it’s too small and underpowered for that IMO.
Looks like a modern take on the Suzuki RV50 I road in Greece in the 80s
Nice
A work of art.
Nice bike, Sandro! Good induction noise 👌🏽 I’d suggest the oil filter conversion next. Good for motor and clutch filtering.
Thanks and that could be a good one!
what did you put on the rack?
There’s nothing on the rack in that video
