I just did the jump attack with my axe and ran away. He died quickly enough. Didn’t know there were other (more fun) ways to kill him. Didn’t know he could drop a helmet, it’s a shame I didn’t get it. Thanks anyway your videos are informative, easy to understand and entertaining.
I'm around the endgame of bloodborne which is my very first souls game and will be buying Dark Souls very soon. I've been looking at vids for DS and found yours - I have to say its such fun listening to you :) you sound like you really genuinely enjoy those games and are having a heck for a time with them - So I'll definitely be watching and liking more of your vids ! ;)
I tend to go up the stairs near the fire beacon thing at the start and can plunge him and when you jump off it can pop you back on the stairs for a follow up plunge xD
If you're really quick the first time you go towards that gate you can get through it before its closed, rook me a few playthroughs to figure it out lol.

If you have a bow this gets easy af, though bonus points if you have a hollow soldier shield / some other shield with 100% physical damage reduction. When you come up the ladder and go right, kill the first hollow soldier and take his place. Here the games begin. That slow guard you were waiting on in the beginning? Like most enemies, he gets ticked if you hit him with an arrow (even if it bounces off his shield) causing him to run at you and most likely go for a lunge when he arrives (parry practice / bait & backstab, your choice). There are two guards behind the boar. Dealing damage to either with a bow (even if it's just 1 damage causes them to charge you as well. NOTE: The one that closes the gate will get stuck brown-nosing the boar for.... "pathfinding" reasons. Most of him will be hidden behind the boar, who will likely aggro to you if you hit it, so aim left of the soldier's exposed shoulder and slowly work your reticle to the right until you hit him. Finish him off from here (don't want someone that content with shoving their face up a boar's rump any closer to you anyway). FINALLY some melee combat. Head right, kill the soldier waiting to ambush you. Head up the stairs, deal with the one soldier and two archers in melee. Once you've defeated the second archer, if you walk the rest of the way across the bridge they were on, you'll notice (looking down and towards the left / down and towards the boar) there's a space between the nearest pile of burning corpses and the nearest wall. Walk (I SAID WALK! I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU ROLL THEN YO DUMAZZ GETS WHAT YOU GET). *Ahem* Walk, shoulder against the wall, off the bridge such that you fall behind the burning bodies in the corner. Immediately block and lock onto the boar, who now has no way to you except through the fire. When it runs into the fire it will NOT die immediately, so move either left or right around the fire until you're out of the corner and the boar should roast itself alive fairly quickly. Thus endeth the lesson.
On my first playthrough I climbed the ladder from below and... went up, straight into dark knight. Imagine my surprise. Then about 2-3 hours I got to kill the darkly bastard and got this great shiny and dark greatsword from him. Then first tried to block/pqrry/dodge boar to make it enteresting and when it was at low health I just dropped on its ass

It looks like there is no way to get past the porticullis in the boar room once it is dropped. Without fighting the black knight or something. But you did a cut scene that made it seem like you could just stroll back there. Very confusing.

Hoo im sorry im gonna be that guy..ive played this sooo much i need to share.. To effectivelly defeat this boar,use any stairs as a running jumping ,or just drop and hit r1 plunge attack on the boar,you dont need to be that high as you might think you need to be,not even close,all you need is a elevation,doesnt need to be that huge (at all)and the plunge will connect,easy kill. I trully aprecciate your vids,but im not sure the gate strat is a good way for new players x ) they will panic severely.lol

Today years old I learned boars in Soulsborne has vulnerable booties
