    I Rode a gold wing before my ultra. I used to Change the shaft oil quite often myself. I think I used amzoil in it.
    I broke the end off of the fillar plug one time.😢😢
    Lucky For me it came loose as it broke.
    Be careful, ride safe.

    whoa whoa whoa...reign it in stud, this is a Honda, you don't even have to change the motor oil until the first 544,856,746,121,654 miles, never mind anything else.

    • @BigSmittyRiding
      @BigSmittyRiding  Месяц назад +1

      I mean this is way overkill but contrary to popular belief you do have to do preventative maintenance on a Honda! Let that settle in and we’ll circle back to it!!!

    Smitty has always been good about keeping his shaft well lubed!
    Is that fill cap made of plastic? Why would it crack? If it's plastic, it ought to be replaced with a metal one.
    I'm surprised how dirty that old oil was! Sure can't hurt to replace it. Makes ya feel good about it. You've kinda turned me on to doing the shaft oil when I get an oil change instead of waiting like the manual says.
    The one thing I notice? No Michelob Ultra or whiskey on the rocks! Every garage video of yours should have one or the other!
    Tongue click and fingers pointed back atcha bud!

    I stole my wife's measuring cup as well for the three hole change 😂 no she runs around in my undies as she thinks it's comfortable 🤣 o-ring change is really the cheapest item in the entire process. Not changing it is silly. No torque specs for those drain plugs? I'll do stuff like that myself, too. Good video even for a Harley guy 🎉👍💯

    • @BigSmittyRiding
      @BigSmittyRiding  Месяц назад +2

      I mean if you don’t steal a measuring cup now and again you’re just missing out! Yeah I’m sure there’s a torque spec… but I sure didn’t look it up! Thanks for making me laugh and for watching!

    • @bernhards.8529
      @bernhards.8529 Месяц назад +1

      Yes, there are torque specs from Honda. The drain plug (6mm Allen) should have 12 Nm (8.85 ft-lbs). While this is easy to apply with a toque wrench and standard tools, it is much more difficult to tighten the 17mm hex bold to 8 Nm (5.9 ft-lbs).
      A 3/8" torque wrench with socket will be to big in this cramped place (unless you are willing to remove the muffler) and it is almost impossible to get a 17mm socket for a 1/4" torque wrench.
      After several unsuccessful attempts I ended up with a 9x12mm hollow torque wrench in combination with an appropriate 17mm insert-square spanner.
