- In a cinematic journey tracking forward and backwards in time, Ziggy Ramo makes his directorial debut with the music video for his new single “Little Things” feat Paul Kelly. From the top of the Sydney Opera House sails to the harbour shores, Ramo performs his reinterpretation of Paul Kelly and Kev Carmody’s 1990’s land rights inspired classic “From Little Things Big Things Grow” in a multigenerational act of truth telling.
Produced in collaboration with The Sydney Opera House this film is a part of Ramo’s ongoing relationship with the Sydney Opera House including his ground-breaking debut performance of Black Thoughts for our 2020 digital season From Our House to Yours; then his recent electrifying performance at Barrabuwari on the Forecourt; and now on top of the world-famous sails.

Is it not a little ironic that a building built for the enjoyment of European musical culture should be the platform for someone lamenting the introduction of European culture to this land?
You're not just telling about the land you're telling the story and history
@@babycherie5874 You really missed the point
@@AJ-fe8om maybe one of the points here
@@sarahmill6963 but what’s the point?
Who else just heard this on Triple J and immediately came here to share the shit out of this!?? Incredibly powerful! Always was, always will be.
Not me. I stumbled onto this treasure myself.
Keep Sharing People!
yep i did and love it, so true
"The irony, you fought for them, but you don't fight for me" That hit the heart strings. I am ashamed how we still treat our beautiful First Nations people with such disdain.
During my time in the Army, I worked extensively with NORFORCE, which is one of the most respected units in the Australian Army... made up of nearly 90% Indogenous Australians... black trackers... great blokes... awesome soldiers...
Same, that line made me feel deeply ashamed.
Thank you for these tears. I am truly, deeply grateful.
I taught this song to my grade 8 lads in Ramingining about 8 years ago in fact taught it at every school i taught for nearly 10 years in the NT. This version bought me to tears
beautiful ain't it :')
Bless you!!
@@ashleighgulliver2831 Isn't that what the Pope says... ???
@Christian Kirkwood alot of ppl say this and add their own meaning to it. I wouldn't have a clue if the pope does, I don't follow subscribed religion and definitely don't quote it from him. It holds my own energy and values to it and comes straight from my heart. No association with the pope here.
@@ashleighgulliver2831 As for "subscribed religion", I'm in the dark, as for "organised religion"... I don't subscribe or particulate and belief and faith are personal. As for the Pope, wtf do you think he says to people??? Go get knotted. My experience has been that "bless you" is a very common form of thanks or parting spoken as vernacular amoung predominant CHRISTIAN religion's - like Catholic. I READ a huge contradiction into your not so well intoned gesture given the story both Paul Kelly and particularly, young Ziggy Ramo is telling us with this preeminent folkloric classic. Think about it. Go well & warm regards to you from Sydney 🤙
So proud of my mob, we will never buckle and we will never break
God love you, brother.
How can I take you seriously with that name
@@jayden793 not my problem x
Bro I'm a white fella sharing this land here now in Wiradjuri, I fully feel this track. It's huge and the brothers agree they just not on RUclips but we all appreciate u 🙏
I'm not crying... Your crying. This is something that should be taught in schools, just like German people learn about their horrid past so that we never ever re-offend. I did learn about it in school, but I think I had a passionate teacher, no one else I know from my era learnt about it, it was the 80s. Just a passionate song that really hits hard.
So glad Ziggy was able to perform this at the footy in Perth, made the already special night that much better
Just a shame that 7 cut to ads for it. Glad the ABC Radio played it live.
This was nothing short of incredible - Ziggy is an Australian hero. Much Love.
*ABSOLUTELY EPIC* ... respect to all indigenous Australians 💯
Starting from the realm of a First Nations political activist and another from Canberra, followed by two songsters that mark that “little thing” as the starting point for what might become an historical churn, I can now see it really grow.
This latest chapter is so very poetic, the words are powerful but the art in the images is truly profound! If Lingari could have witnessed
I hadn’t meant to stop there and don’t really know what to say now. I think he would be very proud of how others have built on his stand, but disappointed by how long it has taken to get this far.
Heard this on Triple J today and it blew my mind. Brilliant. I hope every Australian hears it
Thank you Ziggy ( and of course Paul) Just viewed your version on NITV 👏👏👏 Excellent brother 👍 Loved it, and especially your added piece on the end.
ALWAYS WAS, ALWAYS WILL BE.
I am a white Australian born off Irish/Scottish descent. But my HEART is with My Sister's and Brothers whom will rise above the Australian government's deceitful ploy to steal your country.
❤️💛🖤 Love and Light 💫
Heard you on Double J, went hang on what, turned it up. I'm not going to deny I cried, because these lyrics have power, and at the same time they, for me, offer healing, to a fifth gen Aussie #alwayswasandwillbe & it's an empowering statement. #neverceded, #irespectcountry #irespectelders #livingonwiradjuricountry #nswfarmers
Thanks for sharing this with us!
Now more than ever
Share & play this loudly & proudly
Let Ziggy teach em
Saw you on ABC News! Glad to find this beautiful song. Shine bright Ziggy! Lots of love. 🧡
EVERYONE needs to share this with at least one person that needs it. Not someone who agrees but someone who sits on the wrong side of the fence. Someone who makes the jokes and has the opinions. The people that fly the flag and think Australia Day isn't racist. The people who say it was ages ago and Australia's different now. Share this video with them and tell them unless your an ingenious person then you didn't grow here! you flew here!
It brought tears. So very emotional.
Respect to all elders past and present respect to our land and culture we all should stand proud of how deadly we all are 🖤💛❤️
Doing my bi monthly listen to little things and overjoyed to see this new take.
Brilliant. Powerful. Should be played in every school and church over and over again until the message is heard and accepted.
Yea thats the way to do it, propaganda and brainwashing so that white hate becomes the norm.
I will die first mate, and take your kind with me.
Absolutely brilliant - love this version and the message is so strong and powerful
A great way to get a message out. Thanks Ziggy and Paul Kelly. We fight on...NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE.
Incredible story-telling, we all need to listen, thank you Ziggy
Truly a revelation of the history, pain and lived reality of First Nations people today. Our land cries out for healing for so many reasons, justice for First Nations people needs to be central to that. :) More power to Ziggy!!!
Beautiful and sad, most of all true. We must be better than we have been throughout our history.
I could give you a big hug and kiss Ziggy 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Real Truth 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Respect to our First Nations people...Always was Always will be 💚🙏
Great rendition, adds to the story, adds knowledge, adds more perspective...thanks ziggy.
DEADLY ❤️💛🖤
Powerful song. Just saw you guys on The Set. Words of truth. Words are power.
This is so powerful. Thank you for communicating so beautifully. Everyone should have the opportunity to see and hear this message.
Just one word........Awesome
Wow! Just wow!
Why can't this song and version be used for The Voice vote
Wow thank you.
I love Paul Kelly’s original it opens my eyes to one of these stories. I am self aware enough to know no mater lovingly done that song and others lack a indigenous voice.
I have come to realise a sad truth that sometime it takes white artist to get people listing.
Thank you for this song I think I am about to start a journey through your work.
This song makes my day so chill and relaxing when I’m at work and it comes on JJJ.

Great version. No pride in genocide.
There’s never been a genocide. It’s an insult to people who’ve undergone real genocide to claim as much.
@@JohnSmith-vu6zd At least 270 frontier massacres over 140 years of Australian history, as part of a state-sanctioned and organised attempts to eradicate First Nations people says otherwise.

Oh yeah, white people if our white Australia would never could never do something like that.
Tsk tsk..
Do you think Paul Kelly is proud of white Australia? Have you watched Oranges And Sunshine? White kids were stolen from their parents in the UK by their own govt and taken to Australia to create a whiter Australia.
Watch and learn.
Thanks for your comment, you inspired me.
Incidentally, I had a pen pal many years ago in Scotland with your name, trying to find him now has been a needle in a haystack, literally lol
Thank you for this Beautiful Song & Lyrics, Heartfelt & Indeed Powerful...
I'm late to this version. I was led to it via Ziggy's book "Human? A lie that has been killing us since 1788". It's a great book and remember none of us are free until we are all free...
I Remember being taught about this song in year 8 this remake brought a tear to my eye

I love this.i absolutely love it.its so true.so sad but true
Brilliant, amazing! The message is powerful, parts of it a little hard to listen to. I’m yet to listen to this without shedding a tear.
Every Australian should listen to this.
Respect fro Dja Dja Wurrung Country!
A great reworking of an important song. Just one correction - we didn’t go to fight a genocide in Europe in 1945. 1945 was the end, not the start, of WW2. 🙂
Thankyou! Loved this! Have shared.
Like many of our indigenous counter parts we are struggling to hold on to our truths. Our truths are past down through generations with no paper or penmanship but through story telling, songs and dances. But behold it is the same stories that are written in their historical documents, and journals.
see whats growing now ! much love
I love this but the panning is so strong, a can not focus on text! Nay way, I managed and I listened and it is so beautiful, powerful and moving.
Absolutely 100% agree with this song!
I just moved to Aus from Nz bout 4 days ago. Me and my homie from back home were parked up in a parking lot, smoking some nug we managed to get off some locals. Homemade bong and a cheap lighter. He goes "look at us, sitting here smoking in a parking lot" i said "Yeah, but we're in aussie now bro 😎" and we both smile and he goes "Hell yeah we are 😎" In that moment we realized how far we've come. Sitting there high and this comes on. We loved it 😂 That memory will now be solidified everytime i hear this song. I am grateful 💪
I am indigenous but as a child I was required to go to a government school where I learnt about " history " and science. I was not taught the language of my people, I know almost none of the traditional dream time stories and dances, I don't know how to make any traditional tools or weapons. I was born in the 90's and I can tell you first hand that government policies are still crushing the ability of indigenous culture to return. I do not believe that they do this with bad intention; it's just the same as it was with the first fleet they want to make us "good Christian folk" which is more than ironic.
culture isn't conveyed through school, that's the communities job, look to your own people before crying victim
@@Slydamiser We are required to go to school Mon - Friday. The Aboriginal communities have been forced into areas 10 - 15 hours from the city's. Tell me logistically, how would it be possible to experience the culture of my people? Living in the communities is not possible as you are required to go to a government school. Explain how you think this is supposed to work?
@@Slydamiser If for example I were to move to one of the communities to learn the culture; soon after they realize I were not attending school the police would come and move me back to the city.
@@Slydamiser I want for aboriginal children; instead of being forced to go to school and learn European education to be able to go to back to their communities to begin the process of recovery. In the current political system this is not allowed to happen. You have literally highlighted the problem as if you've made a point
Magnificent
Good stuff 💯 i like it 🤙🚬
God love you, Ziggy.

'Captain Cook' has never been to this continent. He was a Lieutenant who 'captained' the vessel Endeavour. His job role was 'captain'. Don't believe me...check out the log of the vessel Endeavour [Australian Museum]
This needs a hell of a lot more traction people. Like/Sub/Share like the fate of 500 nations depends on it. We need more voices like these. Peace and love to all from Sydney.
A beautifully delivered uncomfortable message. I wasn’t surprised as I scrolled from ‘Heart felt response’ to ‘Troll ignorance’. Maybe that was Ziggy’s point.
Yeah man they did a lot in 40,000 years
when he says "his people" what "people" is he referring to?
This is amazing
This is SO amazing :)
Thank you Binghi - my brother
