My dad passed away on Dec 22, 2023 and he loved to fish in Morehead City. RIP Pops, hope to get there soon and catch one in his memory. Tight line my friend
He make it seems like its so fun, I miss going fishing with my pops ... it would be nice if I can go fishing and catch nothing lol .. but having the fresh air and clear mind is a plus.. I miss those days . When the fish isn't eating. I eat the whole ham sandwich and he get mad was a lesson taught.. lmao..
Love your videos. Moved from FL to NC. Trying to find some good fishing holes or general advice fishing the NC coast. I fished the pylons near bicentennial park and caught quite a few flounder. Was hoping for some sheep head. Would love to sync up. Wouldn’t mind paying a fee to pick your brain to learn to fish NC
Good to see you again. A great video as always. I have fished the same area in the summer time with not much to show for my efforts. What time of year is the best to catch sheepshead and black drum .
This fishery is year round, I catch bigger sheepshead between June and October and smaller fish during winter and spring. Big drum are here May through October and up to 12 pounds in the winter and spring. The smaller fish taste better so I fish year round…
Wow, thay escalated quickly! Congrats on all the subscribers! 100% concur on black drum and pecan crusted sheep is about as good as it gets too...I need to find a good spot to get mud crabs down there. Hoop creek a good spot to find em?
This is the first time that I've seen your videos and I like what I see and wanted know more about your boat. I really like it. What is the make and model
@@offkilterfishingnice, do you find you need to dig deeper to get em in the winter or is it about the same as summertime? I had no idea you could find mud crabs in the winter honestly
I’m curious about you choosing to use a spinning reel today when most often it seems you use a conventional. Do you have thoughts on what type seems to work best for you, or the advantages of each.
I was thinking this lighter setup would be sufficient for the smaller winter sheepshead, these large black drum were a pleasant surprise. I like the drag power and heavier line for cranking large fish from between the pilings.
Sheepshead are Porgy and they have teeth, the Drum family (Sciaenidae) do not have teeth and include Red Drum, Black Drum, Speckled Trout, Croaker and Spot.

Love these little skiffs, just got my J12 running and its almost ready for some Morehead domination :)
Agree 100% with you on black drums. I live in Florida and have caught a ton of them. Only a few have had worms. Great video. You caught som monsters.
Black drum is one of my favorite fish to catch and eat
I may have missed it but you should do a video on catching bait.

I was thinking the same thing....... excellent lil rig 👍👍.....
hey man what size its you boat ? i think i see you last year under the morehead city bridge
Our mud crabs don't get that big on this end. Nice.
Nice sheep. But, you can't beat a drum.
The size of those crabs are really nice! Did you get them from the local bait shop, or you had to catch them yourself? Keep up the awesome video❤
I catch them, they don't sell mud crabs at any of the shops around here. Thanks for watching!

why did he throw that big fish back? Was it illegal?
Hey, I have not been successful at catching sheepshead I need some advice on how to locate them with the time of year.
Like I seen you catching them of the pier in July I just don’t know what time of year and there location for that time of year.
COOL lets go FISHING !!!!!!

Where do you get the mud crabs from ?
Do you have a video on your channel on how to tie thoose double rigs?
Double Hook Carolina Rig taught in "Early Spring Sheepshead" episode at 2:38.
What makes you switch to the spinning rod?
Just trying a different set up, I wasn't expecting to find these whoppers. I brought back up rods just in case because you never know!

What's the difference between a sheepshead and black drum
Sheepshead are Porgy and they have teeth, the Drum family (Sciaenidae) do not have teeth and include Red Drum, Black Drum, Speckled Trout, Croaker and Spot.
Those Black Drum are superior for texture and taste of all the inshore species , unless your catcing Mangos or Cobia .
It aint half bad...
