      Momentum Productions new subscriber here, I just got this crane and managed to balance my a6500 with 10-18mm lens perfectly flat (forward) but was unable to keep it facing upward or downward as you suggest it should stay in position, any suggestions?

      Hey Josh
      I really don't expect you to reply.
      Since this is one of your older videos. I have ballasts my crane
      The very best I can get.
      The problem is no matter which position I put my camera in when the crane turned off.
      Keep in mind I'm using a Sony handycam, the camera never ever stays in the position I put it in. It's just always returns to the level mode. I do not see where there is any strain being put on any motors.
      Do you think I should not worry about this or be concerned ?
      Thanks Keith

      Hey man I have a problem with my gimbal now.. All of a sudden the X and Y motors just move wild and randomly in any direction as soon as I power it on - it won’t respond to joystick controls, just moves violently- was wondering if you ever came across this problem and if you know how to factory reset

    omg thaaaank you! I could not understand the last step for the life of me but the "leaning back and make it stop swinging" explanation makes so much sense and was way easier for my silly brain to understand haha. Thank you so much for this. I rented a Zhiyun for the first time and got 'shown' how to balance it, but never told several critical things, so today's shoot was a disaster. I was alternately cursing the gimbal as an inaccurate piece of junk and cursing myself as a hopeless filmmaker. So now I'm actually properly balanced, hopefully tomorrow will go a lot better!

      Is it possible that my setup is too light? Using an A6500 with the SEL20F28. I know it's not too heavy since the crane will do up to 3.9lb.

    • @gearjammermedia4220
      @gearjammermedia4220 7 лет назад +4

      the set up is to light. I have the 6500 with a 35mm and it wont stay in any positions i manually move it to it just falls to the level position. With my bigger 55-210 lens i can balance it like this video. It will work fine if you don't worry about the "position keeping step" just do everything else. Im going to try a DIY counterweight using the lens support screw.

      Gear Jammer Media.. I am having a similar problem. I have my A6000 mounted on the crane and it's not staying in place. Were you ever able to create a counterweight using the the lens support screw? I'd love to see what you came up with!

    • @jTacticsBeats
      @jTacticsBeats 7 лет назад

      its weird if you unscrew the screw a tiny bit from the plate that holds the camera on, it will stay in place, but your camera could fall off lol

    Hello everyone I have the Lumix G7 and I have the problem with the Tilt Axis(Up or Down Stabilization) and I found my solution.
    I bought two “SmallRig removable Counterweight” with 200 g each.
    I used one as a quick release place( since it has a 1/4 screw and a 1’4 hole so you can attach it to your camera and to the crane) and I attached the other one on the lens mounting screw to add weight to the front.
    Now it works perfectly!
    I bought the counterweights on eBay

    I watched about four 'how tos' before I found yours...all with like 80k views and they all sucked. Yours is the best by far. The others obviously pre-balanced their cameras, and so they're like you just do this and this and this...meanwhile my camera is flopping all over the place... you actually walked me through HOW to balance. Seems obvious, but you're the only one I found to do it right. So thank you.

      check specifications of gimbal, weight your camera with battery and other stuff attached. You can always use a quick release plate to add some weight :)

    • @dennisluka1648
      @dennisluka1648 7 лет назад +1

      Hey. I had the same problem as you. Maybe your camera is too small or the weight between yor camera and your lens is not optimal. I use the Panasonic GX80 with Panasonic 2,8 12-35 mm. My solution was a Quick Release Plate. So the camera is a little bit higher on the crane and i can balance the crane perfectly.

    Just got this crane and have watched a bunch of balancing videos, this is definitely the best out there, very easy with some practice. Questions for you: is the camera base plate supposed to be so sticky? Mine has a tight spot which makes fine adjustments difficult. Also, possible to balance with a rode mic on? I can do it without thanks to this vid, but its impossible with the mic on.

    I think some cams are just too light for V2. I am using an NEX 7 and 12mm Rokenon f2 and this set up balances in all planes except I can not get the cam to point straight up or down and make it stay - it goes back to level. I am going to try to raise the NEX by using a QR plate. It still works well without out that final balance part but I worry that may over stress the motors.

    • @RobertWhitfield
      @RobertWhitfield 6 лет назад

      Hey Conrad, that QR plate did the trick - balances perfectly now - thanks!

      I've been trying to get the perfect balance with my new Tilta G2X and Sony A7iii with 24-70GM. It's hard but doable. What i found is that if each screw is not tightened down to the max I get a lot of vibration in the motors. After I tightened all the screws down the gimbal went from unusable to usable with minor vibration here and there. Maybe something to also make a note of. I saw a lot of youtube videos complaining about motor vibrations and tightening the screws made a big difference for me.

    Hi, can you help me , when i tilt with my cam downwards to the lens down
    kind of position, the motor starts humming and i can feel a mild but
    sure buzz vibration going on. It happens only when i use the joystick n
    tilt the camera nose down. The vibration picks up as the nose tilts more
    and more down. If i leave the lens in that nose down position the
    vibration hum from the gimbal is non stop, until i raise the cam back to level position.
    The hum occurs in no other position including lens tilted full upwards
    to ceiling. Balancing is done correctly on all axis and in dead mode the
    cam is able to stand still in virtually any pose (indicating perfect
    balancing). I also tried setting the motor strength to middle and low
    using the Zhiyun Assistant app and same results in any setting.

    • @mgr5550
      @mgr5550 5 лет назад

      OK instead of troubling you with, 'i need to know them all', let me do it simpler with respect for your time. There are only about 3 basic modes and ill tell you my understanding and you correct me if im wrong.
      A) Power Up > Its in default mode. That is PAN FOLLOW (Joystick only does tilt and nothing else)
      B) Single Press Mode Button > FULL LOCKED MODE, pan & tilt follow are inactive (Joystick does pan & tilt).
      Single Press Mode Button Again > Its back in A default mode, mentioned above. This is a constant loop. Every single press cycles you between A & B.
      C) Double Press Mode Button > FULL FOLLOW MODE, pan & tilt follow are active (Joystick does only dutch tilt roll).
      D) Triple Press Mode Button > SELFIE MODE, but maintains the last selected A B or C mode for its dynamics/joystick.
      Triple Press Mode Button Again > SELFIE MODE CANCEL, but maintains the last selected A B or C mode for its dynamics/joystick.
      In SELFIE MODE, the dynamics/joystick modes A B or C can be activated/cycled as listed above.
      E) Long Press Mode Button > SLEEP MODE or stand by, all motors & joy stick deactivated.
      Long Press Mode Button Again > SLEEP MODE cancel, wake-up and return to mode A (Power up default mode).
      Is the above correct :) ? Or am i wrong somewhere ?

    Hey bro, any suggestions on how to balance a heavy load on a Crane Plus? I’ve got a Canon 80D w/ a Sigma 18-35mm.

    so he crane v2 can handle zoom lens even though there more heavy then prime lens? I have a zoom lens I just got...is it a hassle to film with the zoom lens having to keep changing the focal length and re balance it out in the field?

    HELP - Question: My camera (Sony ARII) does not stand stay still in one place after balancing, it moves all around and does not stay in the position I put it. Thank you for your insight.

    My camera falls to the level position whether its down or up on step 3 (tilt motor adjustment). Any ideas on how to fix this? I just got the gimbal and want to make sure it's not defective.

    • @jTacticsBeats

      ok so my camera balances on the tilt motor axis if I unscrew the pin that holds the camera to the stabilizer a little bit, but this gives me a heart attack as the camera could fall off for not being attached fully. What can I do?

    Quick question:
    Let's say I have two cameras. One is constantly on the gimbal and the other one is being used for photos. I have just one lens, so can I switch the lens between the camera on the zhiyun and the one for photos without having to calibrate the crane every single time from scratch? thank you!

    @7:04 I noticed the velcro. I think I know why you put that there. When the camera is not on the gimbal, the gimbal plate SLAMS into that motor....It's been driving me nuts on my Crane Plus all night (my first day with it).....Seriously so annoying. I'm not tryign to scratch up the surface. If this is not why you put this there, can you explain please?

    Thank you so much. Just received my Crane Plus gimbal today, and this video has been a life saver! (Have Sony a7iii with 16-35mm ). Bought my gimbal 2nd hand on eBay so need to check it is OK. Is there anything I should be wary of? So far seems OK.

      Nothing to worry about. One thing I would suggest is make sure that the motors don't get hot or make strange noises :)

    I've bought an on-camera LED and can't seem to balance it properly, it always falls up or down, I think it's nearly impossible to have it manually stable. Would it be safe to turn on and let the gimbal stabilize this difference, since the total weight is not even close to the maximum weight allowed? Will it force the gimbal? Thanks for this video, it's very explanatory.

    • @MomentumProductions1992
      @MomentumProductions1992  6 лет назад +1

      Hi there! It all depends on the weight of the LED. If it is too heavy, the gimbal will not work properly.

    • @LoveToHateAggro
      @LoveToHateAggro 6 лет назад

      The led weighs 345 grams and the camera is a Sony A6300, which weighs 525 grams, 870 grams total. The gimbal supports up to 1800 grams, so I thought it would be fine to use it, even though I couldn't get the manually perfect balance. Thanks for your answer buddy.

    • @MoodyMostafa
      @MoodyMostafa 6 лет назад

      you forgot about the lens and battery, that adds weight too

    • @LoveToHateAggro
      @LoveToHateAggro 6 лет назад

      Actually, 525g is with the lens and the battery, I forgot to mention that. In fact, the camera body weighs 404g with the battery, and the lens 116g, 520g total. But I weighed the camera myself with all set up and I got 525g.

    I am struggling to keep the camera positioned any way i want "after" balancing it. I've been at this for a day and am not sure if its because the weight of the camera is too small or i may have fucked up the motor. gear: a6500 with a 10-18mm.
