- A video to help anyone that interested in learning a simple sculpting technique using polymer clay. I do use armature in standing sculptures but as this dog is sat down I have adapted my armature to be a little more simple. But I've found it to be just as sturdy.
Materials I use in this video are:
Fimo Soft Sahara/white & black
Glass eyes
Aluminium foil
Wooden tooth picks
Fimo liquid
Fimo glaze

Do you have problems with the packing tape in the oven? I would be using sculpy premo
Hi, could you leave links to the tools you use in this video, like the white blender tool with a point on one end and slant on the other, sculpting turntable, dough cutter, ball end blenders, and tool you used to place and move the fur around? Such a great job and video, thanks! PS I'm in the USA
Hi! I have a question. I am trying to sculpt a dog using your simplified foil armature. I am brand new at this so planning how much clay I need for a project is difficult. My current project is lumpy and my guess is my clay isn’t thick enough. Your clay looks so “pillowy “ and gives such wonderful coverage. Do you have any advice for me to make this part easier? Thank you so much.
Hi Robin. Make sure you are using a good quality polymer clay. I used fimo soft. Make sure you condition it well and use a pasta machine if you can to flatten it out. I also smooth the clay a lot with my fingers. The amount of clay you will need depends on how big you make the foil armature.

This is a beautiful piece! How much do you charge for a dog if this size?
Wow amazing
how long do you bake it for and at what temperature? Great video thanks!
Hi, lovely sculpture. Any tips on baking given the body has much greater thickness compared to the fur/hair strands? I am worried about over-baking the fur/hair strands and causing them to burn up or become brittle. Thanks!
Hi there! Thanks for watching my video. Sculpture was baked at 110 degrees for 30 mins as per instructions know the Fimo packaging. :)
Fantastic tutorial! Can't wait to start!!!
Thank you so much , I want to use non hardening oil based clay , make a mold , then cast in a resin . But i still want to use pastels like you do to paint the resin sculpture . can i still use pastels as I wont be baking it ?
I think do but youd need to use a setting spray

I loved every minute of this video! Thank you so much.
Thanks so much 🙏 💓
You are amazing ! Exactly what kind of pastels are you using to paint the little Yorky ? I have been using acrylic paint and also do not like the gloss , Thank you !
Any soft pastels will do :)
@@VegetaVixen83 Thank you , are you using a solvent like turpentine with oil pastels to get it to flow like paint , or is it more of a dry brushing technique ?
Do you use a solvent like turpentine with oil pastels to get it to flow like paint or is it dry brushing technique ?
Just dry brush before baking :)
