  • Today on Kentucky Ballistics we try out the Buffalo Bore 44 Magnum +P+ 340 gr. hardcasts against a variety of concrete blocks. These hardcasts really pack a punch and are made to penetrate deep without expanding. They should have no problem turning these concrete blocks into gravel. The guns used in this video are a Ruger Super Redhawk 44 Magnum and a Canik TP9SF 9mm. The ammo used is Buffalo Bore 44 Magnum +P+ 340 gr. hardcasts and Perfecta 115 gr 9mm full metal jackets. I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

Center punching just makes it harder to penetrate as deep as it could.

Hmm... every day carry 44 mag. throw that wimpy 9mm in the lake ! Yeah, they say the 9mm is way improved in recent years, but for attack from cinder blocks I all in for a 44 !

I was trying to compare the 44 to your 45-70 shooting concrete wish you would have shot them in the same place. I'm sure the 45-70 is a lot more powerful but the Buffalo Bore is no slouch. Gotta get some for my redhawk.

Those are a bit strong for me in my 5.5” Redhawk being honest with myself. I go with 255 gr Underwood hard casts, but nice to see this demonstration.

The 44 mag is less than one cinder block away from a 700 Nitro.

The problem you’ll likely run into in Canada is no handguns period. I will never hike there because my .44 mag accompanies me in bear country without apology or compromise. Now, if you’re looking to put it into a rifle, that’s a different matter. If I HAD to go into Canadian wilderness and no rifle, the next best option for me would be a sawed-off 12 gauge shotgun with D Dupleks steel slugs. Yes, sawed-off shotguns are legal in Canada. That’s sort of like a pistol, too, size-wise. But I just don’t hike in Canada for this very reason because their government is so insecure about guns.

Concrete is funny to gauge penetration. A bullet can completely knock a hole the a Concrete block without the bullet traveling through.
