I made this exactly like the video. However, when I use it and plug in a USB drive, my phone says that the usb is the host device. I can't use my phone to operate it or move stuff. I read somewhere that you have to solder the resistor to the vbus then a wire to the cc pin. Help!

If you solder according to the video, there will be no problem, most likely the usb debugging option is not enabled on your phone, which does not work.
