Well said Alex. I think a lot of us have a great love and appreciation for European football because of football Italia and the Likes of Batistuta, Weah, Baggio, Vialli etc
Let's be clear here - that presenter is Jamie/James Richardson; Peter Brackley was the main commentator in games and narrator to some of the video packages. Both legends of course, but Richardson is very much alive and well at time of writing.
Great memories of probably the best league in world football at that time. Terrific games, big name players, huge attendances, fabulous stadiums, Serie A not been the same for a long long time. Pity.
I'm from Bulgaria I was a kid in the 90s when Serie A was the first western championship they gave after communism! The second program then had only two. It was a real pleasure to watch Series A then great masters in almost every team!
The nostalgia is almost painful. My whole life in front of me. Watching Gazetta on a Saturday morning before going into town to buy some records and then watching the match on a Sunday afternoon while eating my Sunday dinner, quite often still hungover from the night before. I fell in love with Italy through these shows, even learned to speak Italian at night school lol.
Goal of the Month was class on Football Italia, 36 year old left-backs roasting one in from 30 yards every month. English football at the time? A nice passing move. Forza Fiorentina and their purple kit!
Can't believe Totti is on this video when he has only just retired. What a legend! All the teams that have tried to sign him over the years and he stayed loyal to Roma. Not much loyalty between players and clubs/clubs and players so for him to be at one club for such a long career is incredible. Thanks Francesco!
Wow so so many memories, I remember so many of these goals throughout the 90’s, kids these days will just never know why series a was regarded as this league period of all time. Would I would give to watch this era again.
Who remembers that moment when Vieri objected to being asked questions in English, which he speaks, by Richardson? Richardson without missing a beat slipped into Italian. Vieri didn't enjoy the moment. 😜 Richardson speaks English, Italian, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
I have not seen this video since the 90's, have been dying to see it again for many years...........can't believe I have a Bluenose to thank! hahaha, fuck rivalry, thanks bcfcarchive1875 you are a legend! VTID
Hearing this theme tune I can smell the Sunday roast cooking Great times My favourite Italian side Sampdoria Fallen of a cliff now Shame It's the erg shirt with Lombardo on the back .
Loved watching this programme every Saturday morning I hope one day we can see a really competitive seria a again where star players play for the big teams We are slowly witnessing that players are keen to play there Ronaldo high profile name Already dzeko icardi dybala perisic Matuidi gervinho Muriel good top notch players are wanting to play there it's a good sign for the serie a
Quality. Deep league at the time with stars on every team. As good as some teams are now, their leagues are not as deep as these squads were. People keep saying Serie A will be this good again, but truth is, no league was or has been as good between the late eighties through most of the nineties as Serie A. Most leagues can't field more than 2-3 competitive teams for a title, let alone do that consistently for European play. Spain has come close but the two horse race at the top kills it most times. Prem is great but it hasn't the quality and depth mid table like Seri A did here. It was the time, nostalgia is strong but the game has changed business wise.
I loved Beppe Signori too , forgotten how many class ball strikers there were back then . Used to watch this show every week and I think we got used to seeing so many technically wonderful goals .
wellington hey there, hope you're well. Ive got a VHS, much like this but i think the one i have is a year or two more recent. Sadly i have no VCR to play it on any more :( I do miss this being on TV every week.
I think more investment is needed in the league better infrastructure as well the life style is amazing in Italy Already Milan inter Roma Bologna have foreign ownership and more is needed to make it even better
Trying to find a goal from this kind of era of Serie A that I watched back in the day that had 2 bicycle/overhead kicks in a row after the first one from a different player smashed off the crossbar before the 2nd player scored his...anyone any clue?
I followed Fiorentina back in the day just because of their Nintendo sponsor and still follow them today, really miss the Sunday afternoons before greedy yank company's took all the ef in sports for themselves. Phuk the US!
No wonder Juventus' stadium was nicknamed the Stadio Delle Empty - best thing that ever happened to them was getting their own ground. Thats one of the main problems for all Italian clubs, renting decrepit old stadia from venal local councils that refuse to pay for any refurbishing.
Football Italia defined my young life. I've never stopped adoring Serie A since. The most beautiful league in the world
Well said Alex. I think a lot of us have a great love and appreciation for European football because of football Italia and the Likes of Batistuta, Weah, Baggio, Vialli etc
@@thomasarsenal5465 Well that was it though, they had the best players in the world. Now they don't, but I still follow it.
RIP Peter Brackley - the voice of Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons
Absolute legend Peter Brack :-) I miss those Sunday afternoons, roast dinner and Italian footie, those were the days

Best league of all time, 80's 90's and 2000/2006
Used to watch this on Channel 4, loved every minute of it. When it finished my brother and I went outside to *TRY* and copy them.
Football died as Italian Seri A declined.
If anything, 80s to 00s Serie A was the Superleague that Florentino Perez is looking for
I'm from Bulgaria I was a kid in the 90s when Serie A was the first western championship they gave after communism! The second program then had only two. It was a real pleasure to watch Series A then great masters in almost every team!

Painful indeed. Love your comment!
Nice one.
The best period ever for football
Parma were great to watch in the 90's/00's Zola, Asprilla Crespo, Buffon, Cannavaro, Thuram and so many more.
Agreed, they were my team :-)
Thurum was solid as a rock

So glad I was alive to witness Football Italia...
Pure class from start to finsh.
Nothing like a bit of Campianato, Di Calcio, Italiano on sunday afternoons on channel 4 😄
A trip down memory lane from when Serie A was indisputably the best league in the world.

I loved this show so much back in the day.
Happy times!
Peter Brackley commentary was the best Rave on ravenelli!!!
Del Piero sublime finish!
Don't forget batigol
The qualify of this is better than the over hyped crap in the Premier League that Neville and Carragher are pundits in. The quality is sublime
Peter Brackley was a brilliant commentator....😊
Thank's a lot for this video. I started watching football since UEFA Cup season 97/98, but i like the Serie A of 90s.
P.S. From Siberia with love.
RIP Peter Brackley
I used to think that Italian football was the best in the world at one point. I thought it was nostalgia but turns out I was actually correct.
Thank You very much for this. Fantastic!
