- Every now and again a buddy will ask me to show them a little about what makes me tick. With that I invariably head into the Yambaru National Park, the Jungles of Northern Okinawa main island. It's a place of wild beauty, isolation, peace and quiet. It suits me down to the ground.
This is the short film put together from one such adventure by a buddy of mine, Max Bloom. You can check out his Veteran Discussions themed RUclips Channel here:

"A man is only as big as the dreams he dares to live"
привет я с Украины вас смотрю , вы видно хороший человек который любит природу , дай бог вам здоровья
When I was there in 84-86 the Islanders used to hunt the habu for their Mongoose show. I saw a Mongols their as well. They used to go out at night with lights and look up in the trees for the snake.
Dude you're crazy long pants high boots habu everywhere!
I'll take that as a compliment!
I was scared to death of the Habu, pictures were enough for me.. I never saw one in the jungle, when I was there back in Aug74-Sep75. Semper Fi from an old Marine Sergeant
There's plenty here, if you know where to look...
@@seawildearth I really enjoy your videos. I wish I had explored Okinawa when I was there. As far as going out and eating, I did a lot of that. I did tour the Suicide Cliff area. Saw the concrete shelters where the Japanese hid their planes. One sad issue during the war, the Japanese Soldiers used the native Okinawans as human shields, very sad. I was stationed at Camp Foster, how far do you live from Camp Foster?
@@usmc-veteran73-77 I used to live just five minutes from Foster, close to Araha Beach area. Now based in Yomitan.
@@seawildearth two things I really miss about Okinawa.... the blue ocean water and the sunsets. One thing I don't miss is the humidity in the summer. Lol
I couldn't hear so much. The volume was really low. But great video.
Hi would you share where’s the location to start? I always want to hike in Yanbaru but don’t know the good route.
