I think a person with foreign parents, who's born in the Philippines should be given a chance to apply for citizenship when they come of age. They grew up in the PI as a filipino, they know the language and our culture. Why will you deport her to a country she barely knows? Kawawa naman!

+Wanderer1616 Hindi naman issue ang citizenship sa video. VISA or PERMANENT RESIDENCE ang hinahanap niya. Immigration gave her a choice, Philippines or India citizenship, which she indicated she have to choose Philipines where she was born, grew up and loved.

GAGANG Immigration Atty. !!!, you called this woman an undesirable immigrant who was born and raised here, lol. I don't think so this person violated any immigration law ... apparently what she needs is a guidance from you which is your primary job.She needs the specific details on how to acquire a naturalization so she will become a citizen of this country. Not confusing or fear mongering advised cause this will not help.

The Philippine nationality law is based upon the principles of jus sanguinis (Latin for right of blood) and therefore descent from a parent who is a citizen or national of the Republic of the Philippines is the primary method of acquiring Philippine citizenship. This is contrasted with the legal principle of jus soli where being born on the soil of a country, even to foreign parents,
grants one citizenship. For those born in the Philippines to
non-Filipino parents, the Administrative Naturalization Law of 2000
(R.A. 9139) provides a path for administrative naturalization for those
      who qualify.

    • @jonroch9100
      @jonroch9100 7 лет назад +6

In our LAWS.. she can't be considered as a Filipino :D even though she can speak Filipino Language fluently, she grew up here or Learned the culture... nothing you can't change the fact that she is an Indian.. Unless one of her parent is a Filipino.. then she can be have a permanent residency here in the Philippines.. but her parent is actually both Indian.. so she may need to apply an Visa for staying here in the Philippines.. or be deported for overstaying..

    • @DeLaCruzer11

Just like Zyrah R. there is a new law now where a foreign national who is born in the Philippines can choose his/her nationality when one turns 18 years old. The person in the video is qualified under that law and she can apply for her Filipino citizenship if she so wishes.

This video is referring to Permanent Residency of other national who where born in Philippines. According to her, there should be more room for individuals like her to stay permanently without announcing any citizenship. Immigration had given her a choice between Philippines and Indian citizenship, which she is not decided to choose yet.

His or her parents can be Filipinos too through the naturalization process. It's just unfair for that girl, Koreans can live here but she cannot even though she was born here?? that's totally unfair.

The Happy Weird Boy 1987 Philippine Constitution is not fucked up... the kids are fucked up because of their parents ignorance of the the law. these kids also have options. when they reach their age, they have to choose which citizenship. nobody or no one can have 2 citizenship for the rest of their lives.
for example here in japan, a child was born and , raised in japan but the child's visa depends on his/her parents visa. once his/her parents visa expired regardless he/she lived here in japan for 30 yrs., he/she only have ONE OPTION BUT TO GO HOME with his/her parents. now tell me, is the Japanese Constitution is fucked up?
It's easy to say than done.

Gavin Abellera We are a multicultural country. Japan isn't. Why would the Philippine Constitution deprive people of other ethnicities or people without any filipino blood to live hereas a Filipino? If they were born here, they should consider them as Filipinos. We should stop thinking that only people with Filipino blood can be Filipinos. NO. We are a multicultural country and everyone is welcome. If a foreign person was born here and if she chose to stay here, she should be a Filipino.

narinig mo n b ung mga buntis n mexicana na nagpipilit o gumagawa ng ibang descarte para maka tawid ng US boarder? or sumasakay ng eroplano ng US pra pagnanganak cla s US soil or US teritory e automatic US citizen mga anak nila. so pati magulang magkakaroon ng papel s US? ganun ang gus2 mangyari ng batang e2. ano pangunahing bisnes ng mga bumbay? 5/6 di b? untaxable un

I feel for her because I'm in the same situation. I was born in Manila with both parents foreign citizen. The Philippine government should change the OLD LAW with regards to permanent residence and citizenship. For we want to contribute our talent, resources and skills to our motherland. Not the distant land of our forefathers which we don't have much knowledge or any patriotic sentiments.
By not acting quickly on this matter, Philippines will continue to loose bright talented people that can create jobs, commerce and much needed taxes to other countries which welcomes them with both open arms. I have left Manila for this main reason. And now lives in England running our Hotel and real Estate and pay taxes to UK.
    Uk - Winner - Philippine - Loser.
Moral lesson, If you can't change them - " LEAVE THEM "

Government should let her to be a a citizen. She was born there. What kind of people who will deport someone back to her parent's origin country and she was not born in that country. It should be automatic if a foreigner born in the philippines, they should allow that person to choose their citizenship when they turn 18 or 21 years old.

I sincerely feel all your comments and views on this matter. Although, there was a time in my life where I was proud to be a Filipino. Sadly enough, I do not share the same feelings anymore. I am not surprised, nor am I affected by what's going on in the Philippines. And by saying that, doesn't mean i'm insensitive to other peoples fortunes. My point is, the Philippines is spiraling in a downward direction. And it seems that nobody cares. We, or should I say, they need a MAJOR CHANGE in every aspect. They have laws that were implemented during the beginning of time. Wake up everybody! Times change, people change, Their laws need to be re-thought, re-adjusted and re-written, So as to conform to our ever changing society. Even this issue of Citizenship....geez! Give her the citizenship she very well deserves.
And to the girl that wants to become a citizen of the Philippines, I hope you get what you want. And if for any reason they deny you? There are a lot more way better countries. I just feel for you, knowing that you don't have that sense of belonging to "somewhere". Goodluck sa iyo..

i dont think you really understand...she can chose to have or be a naturalized filipino citizen..but she has to cancel her indian citizenship..as we do not grant dual citizenship to a foreigner...now on view on this is this law aims to protect filipino citizens from being over run by foreigners as we know even thou philippines is third world as some people say but still lots and lots of foreign nationals want to settle down here..and we are not the only one who has that kind of law..even those rich country who their citizens do not have to compete that much for better opportunity they still impose those kind of law..what more is the philippines..kung sa ngayon na ganun ang batas natin klangan pa nating makipagcompete para makakuha ng mas magandang trabaho what more kung pati sa mga dayuhan magiging kasali natin sila sa competisyon.....but if she really wants to be a filipino citizen she has to surrender her indian passport..
