- Cycling can leave you stooped forward and not in the most optimum position for using your body effectively. This position can also leave your hips, neck, and upper back vulnerable to injury. The perfect exercise to counter the forward flexion common to most cyclists is Swimming, as it strengthens the entire posterior chain, while building mobility in the spine, shoulders, and hips.
