Awesome video man!!! My personal favorite and number 1 all time is ghost rider. I've ridden mostly all the southern California rollercoasters and ghost Rider is still my number. One day I'll make it to northern California to ride their rides!
It’s not really a great coaster. Sure, there’s pretty lights, but the only thrilling part is the lift hill. It looks scary. Then you get past it and the ride itself turns into a glorified wild mouse.
@@MagicOfficial I wouldn't necessarily call it that, though it does take time for it to build up its speed an intensity. However if you're in the back you are getting nuts airtime over that surprise drop and then you get whipped through those turns.

Loved this video! I just went to the two Northern California parks and I totally agree with that you said about them. I think you should make the worst rollercoasters in California. There were some I would say that need to make room for some new ones.
Pretty cool battle of the North vs South: Goldstriker/Joker/Raliblazer vs Ghostrider/TC/X2 Top woodies face off. Which I feel could go either way. Giant Dipper at Belmont. That thing was built in 1925 and has been maintained fabulously. It boggles me how a coaster like that could even be designed, built, and operated way back then (Dipper at Santa Cruz is more understandable.). It flows like a GCI, has some great airtime, and is easily accessible due to the ticketing system of the park. Sea World is right across the bay and draws the tourists away from the lesser known beach park. Skip it altogether, just ride Dipper over and over again.
X2 is my favorite coaster Of all time, it is the most insane experience the 2nd half is a little rough but the experience is better than ghost rider and twisted colossus, though twisted colossus back row dueling was epic and it was pretty close to x2
I feel like another honorable mention should've been Giant Dipper at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, simply for the historical value, Its almost 100 years old and is the oldest coaster in California.
I’m glad that you included viper and apocalypse on the ranking very underrated rides I went to MM yesterday and was able to ride them 3 times in the back

Awesome video, I like numbers 3 which was X2 and 1 which was Twisted Colossus, both of those are two of my favorite coasters at Six Flags Magic Mountain!!!!
Disappointed that you didn't at least mention the 2 classic Giant Dippers at Belmont Park and Santa Cruz Beach Board walk. Those 2 coasters are great for their age. A side note- I LOVED riding the Scandia Screamer. Super fun, lots of air time and will be missed. I personally hate Silver Bullet and what it did to Knotts. The decision to put it right up front was a bad choice and ultimately destroyed anything good about Knotts. Knotts is not the same compared to how it was in the past. Knotts was always great as a "transition park," or right of passage from Disneyland to Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Even if I don't agree on each placement, I think you nailed the top 20 individual rides in the state. Also, thank you for appreciating Sierra Sidewinder, what a criminally underrated ride.
I think you did a great job on this list. Being from Northern California, I’m glad to see so many of the coasters from the Bay Area represented here. Medusa is a favorite. I’ve got a great story about it too. I’ll have to share it some time.
What about Matterhorn Bobsleds the ORIGINAL steel coaster, its a bit bumpy but it is just so amazing with the bunny hils, drops, turns, and infamous water splash at the end.
I was hoping to see X2 at number one. For me it's the best coaster west of Ohio and probably the most unmissable coaster in the USA. Even top notch RMCs are still cut from the same cloth. Don't get me wrong. Ultimately, Steele Vengeance is still better, as is Lightning Rod. But X2 is is still more unique and I'd argue more intense than either of those. For me it beats Twisted Colossus, though I agree that TC is more re-ridable. Oh well, it's your list and your entitled to your opinion.
Yeah I totally agree with you, Airtime Thrills! Ghostrider and Twisted Colossus are the best in the west. Ghostrider is the best wooden coaster with laterals, tons of airtime, and a great night ride, especially in the back. Twisted Colossus is by far the best coaster West of the mississippi (including Texas). The layout is flawless and has tons of ejector airtime, inversions. Like you said its a top-tier RMC, only below Wicked Cyclone, Lightning Rod and Steel Vengence.
@@justiceleaguebattleformetr9239 If you want to find the "King" of Laterals, Excalibur at Funtown Splashtown in Maine has the best laterals than Legend.
I am still pressed by the fact in December 2015 when my Dad and I got in the enormous line for Twisted Colossus, the ride shut down due to technical difficulties as we were literally next in line. We waited over an hour and 15 minutes. Hopefully after this pandemic we can go back and try again.
Love the videos! I think Giant Dipper should be on here. I worked at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in '09 and remember riding on days off or after work. Surprisingly good for its size! I hope to get back in 2024 for its 100th.
I’m hoping to make it up to Six Flags when this corona stuff is over - I’ve been to Knotts twice and Hangtime is my absolute favorite ride. Ghost Rider was really rough for me, and quite frankly uncomfortable - I got banged around in the seat a lot, but I got a ton of airtime while I flew around like an empty sack in the wind. Thank god my friend, who is twice my weight, was locked into my arm. Felt like I was gonna fall out!
I went down there in 2014 to SeaWorld San Diego, Knott's Berry Farm, Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure. I really wish California's Great America and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom weren't on the opposite side of the state because I would love to have gone to those parks as well. Never the less, this was probably the best vacation I've taken so far. I think either Xcelerator or Montezoom's Revenge was my favorite ride at Knott's Berry Farm. Manta was definitely my favorite ride at SeaWorld San Diego. The Matterhorn Bobsleds was my favorite ride at Disneyland but sadly Space Mountain was under refurbishment while I was there. California Screamin' was my favorite ride at Disney's California Adventure and was also at one point the best roller coaster I've ever ridden. Unfortunately I am not sure if it will be anymore as I am not a fan of that ride becoming The Incredicoaster. I actually am not sure what my favorite ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain is because I enjoyed all their coasters very much but if I had to pick, I think I'd say Full Throttle or The Riddler's Revenge. I haven't ridden Sierra Sidewinder or Hangtime at Knott's Berry Farm, Viper or Superman: Escape from Krypton or West Coast Racers or Twisted Colossus at Six Flags Magic Mountain but I'll be sure to give all those a shot next time I am in the state.
I’ll never forget visiting magic mountain from Philadelphia in 3rd grade in 2006. Boy I had no clue what I was getting myself into when I got on Tatsu, felt like it ripped my chest in half, but I liked it lol
Interesting order! I've never been to California, so I can't really say if I agree or disagree XD They all look like excellent coasters and I definitely want to try to them all one day.
I'd put The Giant Dipper from Santa Cruz in there instead of Apocolypse. Both are great rides but I think The Giant Dipper has better air time and better views because of its location right on the California Coast. Its overall a much more unique coaster with its curved loading station and completely dark tunnel right at the beginning before the lift hill👌
This sounds amazing! Being an East Coast boy eho was born in Texas, I've only been to the 2 Six Flags in Texas, the Florida Disney, Universal, and Anheiser-Busch Parks (including Bush Gardens Williamsburg, but excluding SeaWorld San Antonio), Wild Adventures, King's Dominon, and Six Flags Over Georgia and Great America. That said, I'll have to make sure to visit all of these some day! Knott's and Disneyland were already on my list anyway, lol
Awesome list, though for me I would have the Santa Cruz Giant Dipper in the top 20 but I think I just like that coaster more than most people. Surprised to see Incredicoaster that high but I understand as it is a really fun ride, but as far as family coasters go I’d rather ride Manta.
Didn't get to discovery kingdom, but did the other 3 major parks last week and have to agree with most of your rankings. Wasn't impressed by gold striker, but it was empty trains basically all my rides so probably didn't get the full experience. Ghost rider at night was out of control, just amazing. And the combo of tatsu and x2 is the most intense I've experienced. One of the very few times I've gotten sick on rides. Admittedly the 80° temperature difference from LA to when I left Wisconsin might have had something to do with that.
I just can’t agree with you on Viper! I visited magic mountain in 2014 and we had a guide so we got to skip lines and ride every coaster in about two hours. I wasn’t really as into coaster back then as I am now, but I remember that being the first and only coaster I said I would never ride again because it was SO painful! I remember loving Full Throttle and the front row on Goliath was.... terrifyingly wonderful!! Mind you, I had never ridden a real coaster before these as im from Washington and beside the Timberhawk we don’t have many major coasters. I used to be a trainer for that ride.... ah the good old days!
I need most of these credits as I haven't been back to Cali since I moved away as a kid in '95. I'll be out there next year and I hope we can ride together when I hit your home park. Great list!
Love seeing Ghostrider as #2!! Colossus was my dream go-to coaster back when I was like 4yo watching National Lampoon’s Vacation, and I swore to myself I’d ride that thing... took me 17 years but I managed to fulfill my childhood dream! (Living over 6k miles away didn’t help) And I’m yet to try Twisted Colossus - but I really miss the old school wooden coasters, specially boardwalk themed and I don’t think every wooden coaster should be RMC’ed - for both nostalgia and for those not-so-thrill seekers that would ride a wooden coaster but can’t stand upside downs in rides... maybe that’s why I love (even with all the roughness) the Giant Dipper in Belmont Park
Just an appreciation comment here, Airtime Thrills if you see this, just know that I really enjoy your videos and to keep it up man.

@JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle For Metropolis Expert I don’t think there is enough rides for that
MrBiblyBoo Colorado through Indiana
@JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle For Metropolis Expert Im just joking man
Awesome video, I like numbers 3 which was X2 and 1 which was Twisted Colossus, both of those are two of my favorite coasters at Six Flags Magic Mountain!!!!
Chris, you're killing it with content lately. Rock on!
Great video! Six Flags Magic Mountain and Knott's Berry Farm seem like amazing amusement parks!
X2 anit in Ohio dum shit lol
I love Riddler's revenge as a stand up. People just don't wanna stand after waiting in line
I also have TC below those 3 RMCs
X2 back row inside seat takes it for me. #2 Ghostrider #3 TC #4 EXCEL #5 Tatsu
I think The Legend has the best laterals, especially in that insane helix
@@justiceleaguebattleformetr9239 If you want to find the "King" of Laterals, Excalibur at Funtown Splashtown in Maine has the best laterals than Legend.
Thank you for mentioning a roller coaster from my home theme park
C’mon Six Flags, give Magic Mountain a giga. Give them a freaking Vekoma Giga, it’ll be WAY cheaper than an Intamin or B&M.
I am still pressed by the fact in December 2015 when my Dad and I got in the enormous line for Twisted Colossus, the ride shut down due to technical difficulties as we were literally next in line. We waited over an hour and 15 minutes. Hopefully after this pandemic we can go back and try again.
*Puts family spinning coaster over 'amazing B&M creation'*
Strong list. Really my only gripe is the Batman omission. It's more intense and has better pacing than either Flight Deck or Silver Bullet.
Manta in Seaworld is surprisingly good
Love the videos!
I woould add Giant Dipper at Santa Cruz to this list. Fantastic old Woodie.
God I really wanna go to the US and ride some of these amazing rides one day.
Here's to hoping!
Also, great video as always Nick!
Who tf is Nick?
I’m 6’2” and Viper is still Effing miserable. Shoulder pain, neck pain, head pain. Ugh. Those transitions are torture.
I’ve been on all except hang time. Should be able to ride it next year
I’ll never forget visiting magic mountain from Philadelphia in 3rd grade in 2006. Boy I had no clue what I was getting myself into when I got on Tatsu, felt like it ripped my chest in half, but I liked it lol
I would like to forget getting robbed of X’s coaster credit as it was closed when I went for the day!
Interesting order! I've never been to California, so I can't really say if I agree or disagree XD They all look like excellent coasters and I definitely want to try to them all one day.
2:02 Same! This was the ride that helped me build up my courage to go on coasters with more inversions.
Giant dippers lap bars aren't restrictive so it gives really good airtime and it has a good layout.
My top 20
1. X2
2. Twisted colossus
3. Ghostrider
4. Railblazer
5. Tatsu
6. Xcelerator
7. Hangtime

I haven't ridden joker, V2 or manta yet but hope to in the near future:)
I agree rip the large B&M form six flags last one x flight 2012. 😢
Omg I’ve gotten on twisted colossus and it was my first roller coaster and it was scary and FUN!
Totally Agree, Twisted Colossus definitely places 1 on my list
I need most of these credits as I haven't been back to Cali since I moved away as a kid in '95. I'll be out there next year and I hope we can ride together when I hit your home park. Great list!
Love seeing Ghostrider as #2!!
Colossus was my dream go-to coaster back when I was like 4yo watching National Lampoon’s Vacation, and I swore to myself I’d ride that thing... took me 17 years but I managed to fulfill my childhood dream! (Living over 6k miles away didn’t help)
And I’m yet to try Twisted Colossus - but I really miss the old school wooden coasters, specially boardwalk themed and I don’t think every wooden coaster should be RMC’ed - for both nostalgia and for those not-so-thrill seekers that would ride a wooden coaster but can’t stand upside downs in rides... maybe that’s why I love (even with all the roughness) the Giant Dipper in Belmont Park
Ahiru Nakamura I’ve never seen National Lampoon’s Vacation, despite loving Christmas Vacation.
I could quote that movie all day.
