Do you think being an international teacher will be a career for you now? Or were you going to return to your old job after a couple years (i believe in a past video you said you were a financial analyst)? I want to spend a couple years teaching abroad as well but I am worried that it would be hard to get a job in America if i were to take a couple years off, I am studying a very similar career field as yours.
I actually am considering filming a video about my decision to come back to the states because of career related reasons. I was in the financial services industry before, but I will not being returning to that field. I am currently dealing with the difficulty of breaking back into the American work life. I just got back a day ago though :) Any decision you make will be unique to what you want and would like to do but I certainly don't regret my time abroad (especially my time in South Korea).
Thanks for your reply! I really want to teach in South Korea and most youtubers I found decided to keep traveling and teaching and didnt talk about assimilating back into their home country, but i know in my situation I would just want to stay a couple years and come back to the States and settle. I hope you do decide to do the video, I know it would help answer other people's questions about the topic :)!
I think people who do come back home after going abroad feel that it is less exciting to talk about the struggles of life at home again. If you already know that you want to stay just a couple of years, then it already sounds like your plan is pretty solid. I see how things unfold and hopefully I can share a success story rather than a story of never-ending struggle to find something worth settling for. I'd say if you want to go abroad, just do it. Don't let the fear of the future keep you from going for however long you wish to go.
