  • If you've ever wondered which game in the Fire Emblem series to start with, or who exactly would be in each game of the series, then this video is for you! Today we're breaking down every main series Fire Emblem game in the series and even going in-depth about amiibo usage and which fan favorite characters appear in which games in the series. This video will be the perfect place for anyone wondering about the Fire Emblem series to check out and get started with. My recommendation would be to start with Fire Emblem 7: The Blazing Sword, Fire Emblem 8: The Sacred Stones, Fire Emblem 13: Awakening, Fire Emblem 14: Fates, or Fire Emblem 15: Echoes - Shadows of Valentia. You can also check out Fire Emblem Heroes for free, or if you're more of a fan of the hack and slash style games, definitely check out Fire Emblem Warriors. Thanks for watching, guys! (۶•̀ᴗ•́)۶

    True story: I was intending to start with fates, but then my (At the time) Girlfriend just said: "Don't start with fates. I have a spare Awakening cartridge. start with that." and pretty much gave me FE13 for FREE, no strings attached. So I started FE for $0.00 all because my Girlfriend was feeling generous... *Sigh* Rest in Peace, Lily... (PS, don't comfort me, bro-hams. I've gotten over it.)

      @MogofWar 6 лет назад +6

      Jian Ling Lim I wouldn't be too sure. I've got a feeling that certain features from Echoes are going to be part of future installments of the main series. Some variant of the turnwheel, and 3D environments, as well as 3rd tier promotions are probably here to stay.

    • @lucky_crit
      @lucky_crit  6 лет назад +35

      While some things like the archaic maps are a turn off, the game is so polished, beautiful, and fun most of the time and I don't think I've met a single person that thought Echoes was trash and that they'll never play another FE!

    • @char1194
      @char1194 6 лет назад +8

      Mog of War Perhaps, but it'll also get new players used to things like HP-cost magic, *no weapon triangle*, archers being good. I can only imagine them deciding to try out the older games afterwards and getting screwed by the weapon triangle and trying to use archers, at least until they adapt.
      Lucky Crit I'm not worried at all that a new player won't enjoy Echoes, I personally think it's the best game in the series. But it IS very different, and should they choose to return to older games afterwards, they might be confused from things like weapon durability, weapon triangle, terrain bonuses etc. Echoes is a great game but I don't think it can be called a "standard" Fire Emblem. I'd instead recommend simpler games like FE7 to new players, then tell them to play Echoes afterwards

    • @mtj8870
      @mtj8870 5 лет назад

      @@char1194 I started with echoes while playing heroes. So i knew what the weapon triangle was like. Echoes was the best imo but what can i say because I don't have the money or resources to play jugdral or tellius. And i don't think awakening or fates are worth the money. I have played the gba games because I can emulate them for free on my phone. My imprrssions were
      Sacred Stones: Wow this is a really fun game. Oh wait. I picked eirika's route. Fuck. WHY THE FUCK DOES THE ENEMY ALWAYS CRIT AT 2%!?
      Blazing Sword: HOLY SHIT I DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOUR TUTORIAL CHAPTERS LYN! JUST LET ME PLAY THE GAME! HOLY FUCK WHY ARE THERE SO MANY SECRET CHARACTERS! THESE MAPS ARE JUST LIKE ECHOES BUT WITHOUT THE TERRAIN BOOST! HOLY SHIITTT WHEN WILL THIS STORY END!!!!! I DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOU EITHER ELIWOOD! ARE HECTOR AND JAFFAR THE ONLY VIABLE UNITD HERE!? THESE MAPS TAKE FOREVER IT'S BEEN 30 MINUTES NOW!

      Agreed, but if you do start there, you would be a lot more prepared for any new games because of the games difficulty (I know it int extreme, but it’s not easy unless you grind..... like I did)

  • @Pat2wik
    @Pat2wik 6 лет назад +45

    As someone who started Fire Emblem since Binding Blade, I can honestly say that I agree entirely with what you said about what games to start with. I believe Awakening was a great jumping point for many players and I agree that the 3DS games allow the newer players a easier experience with jumping in than the previous games, although.. Blazing is also an excellent jump off point as well. (As you already stated.)
    I enjoyed the videos “brief” history of the series and I hope many new players can try it out and give it a try, ignoring the whole “waifu” and “thots” Issue.

  • @henryreturns1397
    @henryreturns1397 6 лет назад +37

    I personally believe that Path of Radiance Fire Emblem 9 is the best starting point
    - The early game of Path of Radiance is really easy, contrary to most Fire Emblem games that the early game is the hardest part
    - The scaling that is used in Path of Radiance is really good since the begging is easy, mid game okay, and end game challenging and by that point the player would already know how to deal with it
    - Different objectives
    - a fair difficulty on the easy/normal standards
    - Bonus Exp for the characters the player don't want to train or have a bit of a hard time training, this for me is really good since Awakening/Sacred Stones/Birthright gives you the option of over grind and blaze the game with literally 3 units.
    - Path of Radiance can set up the player to try other entries, because the way I see is that Awakening and Fates kinda put the player on that habit on only playing games that has casual mode.
    - The most important part of course, if you don't wanna spend money on Path of Radiance , download an dolphin emulator and play it there.

    • @Android-Twenty-One
      @Android-Twenty-One Год назад

      The only problem I have when recommending Path of Radiance is that the game kinda takes a bit of a while when it comes to allies and enemies turns.

    • @henryreturns1397

      @@Android-Twenty-One Oh yeah , which is why dolphin emulator i recomend so you can speed it up. If PoR has the "skip enemy turn" like what Shadow Dragon did , it would for sure make the experience better.

    Here's the optimal order:
    - Super Smash Bros. Melee
    - Advance Wars
    - Mario Kart Double Dash with the Bonus Items Disc for FE7
    - Fire Emblem: The Blazing Sword
    - Fire Emblem OVA (English dub preferred)
    - Pirate Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade
    - Skip Sacred Seth (Grinding is too easy unlike the arena in FE6/7 or attacking the boss at range and letting them heal so it's for casual trash)
    - Complain about Path of Radiance being too easy
    - Super Smash Bros. Brawl
    - Complain about Radiant Dawn being too hard
    - No More Heroes (Good game and same artist as Awakening)
    - Complain about Shadow Dragon having no dialogue and some stupid mechanics
    - No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle
    - Pirate the Jugdral games and make sure to watch the Model Omega guide for Thracia 776 so elitists can be pissed at you
    - Watch 3 critically acclaimed anime (Cowboy Bebop, Anything by Masaaki Yuasa, and Death Note) and complain about Awakening being too anime
    - Ignore that Lute, Serra, and Priscilla are basically the same as an Awakening character
    - Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
    - Write 3 essays about things in Fates that piss you off
    - Fates Conquest Hard/Lunatic, preferably with a rewritten script
    - Shadows of Valentia
    - DON'T BUY THE DLC for Awakening/Fates/SoV. It's too overpriced

    • @ew275x
      @ew275x 6 лет назад +1

      +Docaccino He's good at going over items, which is how I like to play, getting all special items and events (Though not sure if I would go for the Dancer in Parne's stage or Connomore next time I play through). I didn't like how it's obvious he used the Arena a lot (since if we go by the units he suddenly has a promoted Salem and Robert) and he failed to explain things about the sleep sword I found made Xavier easier to recruit (as in you don't double units). Plus I mean just Warp Olwen without Items, talk to Reinhardt and kill him and his cronies with the Blessed Sword, It's not that hard.
      Plus I think he values PCC too much.

  • @ZerkMonsterHunter
    @ZerkMonsterHunter 6 лет назад +262

    personal thoughts: Fates is not a good starting point, nor is sacred stones or echoes
    Fates's multiple versions and lackluster narrative can be a big turnoff. especially if a new player dives head first into conquest without knowing what they're getting into.
    conversely sacred stones has the inverse problem. great story (best in the series IMO) but the path system restricts a lot of fun maps/characters from the player and changes the script drastically (Ephraim's path has the better script both during and after the split) the way I'd recommend playing Sacred stones is copy your file when you reach the split and finish the game with Ephraim.
    finally, while echoes has great story/presentation the gameplay still reeks of archaic NES FE. additionally, the dungeons and full voice acting may spoil new players and create false expectations for when they go and play past installments.
    the decision should be between FE7 and awakening.

      MegaMaster1021 I agree. Though I’m very lucky to have both PoR and RD, I still want them to be remade so more people can enjoy them as much if not, more than I did. However I really want them to fix some things for the Tellius Games; For PoR, I want them to include the maniac mode we never got here in the West, along with other minor tweaks to make the game a little bit harder since PoR is one of the easier FEs and I would like to see some difficulty increase with it. For RD, I hope they can fix several things; The first is the story be rewriting or better explains certain plot points so that the story can truly be the epic tale that it wants to be. Then I would hope they could rebalance some characters so that they can become actually useful (and or usable). Also as a personal thing, for its Maniac Mode, I would hope that they remove the whole halved exp gain thing since while I can appreciate Limiting the player’s resources to make them think more strategically, I do find the half exp thing rather annoying since it makes certain characters incredibly annoying to train up, made worse by the far stronger enemies.
      Anyway that’s my thoughts/ rants on Tellius Remakes and hopefully we’ll get them one day.

    At first, I really got into the Fire Emblem series with Awakening but I always loved playing as the Fire Emblem characters in Smash Bros Melee and Brawl. I was a lot younger when Melee first came out (and my introduction into the Fire Emblem universe) and I had trouble wrapping my head around strategy games. Now that I'm much older I absolutely love strategy games and RPGs like XCOM and the Soulsborne series. I really hope Nintendo puts a lot of the older Fire Emblem games on the new Virtual Console coming to Switch (hopefully soon), so I (and many other "newer" fans) can finally enjoy these classic titles.

    Technically I was introduced to the series through Smash, but I actually got into FE with Awakening. I just happened to be at a GameStop with my sister shortly after it came out and was looking for 3DS games when I spotted the cover and was curious. Person working there saw my interest and briefly explained the game, and I was interested so I bought it and loved it. Started looking at the other games in the series too, but didn't actually play them myself.
    Fates was announced and I was excited especially since the same artist would return to do the character art for that game, bought it and enjoyed it (though for months, maybe even a year, I had Revelation on chapter 18 and never continued bc I got hung up on support grinding characters I didn't even end up using lol). FE Heroes I enjoyed for like a week when it first came out, but due to issues with its mechanics in its early life, I dropped it til about late November of 2017.
    Wanted Echoes when it was announced, but didn't have the money to spare. My sister got it though, and she's given me her copy because she's done with it now. FE Warriors I went to the trouble of buying a New 3DS XL for, and even though its story is lackluster I greatly enjoy the gameplay and designs. When FE for Switch comes out I'm getting that ASAP. I've since started delving deeper into the previous FE games' stories and lore (mostly because I picked up Heroes again and seeing all these characters got me curious about their home games). This series owns my ass now.

    I remember how I got into Fire Emblem. The Robin trailer for Smash just came out and I thought he and Lucina looked absolutely badass. I decided to buy Awakening not knowing a single thing about the franchise. My first play though had such a profound experience on me - The characters and the depth of the gameplay were incredible, cementing my love for Fire Emblem. I bought every subsequent release to date and even downloaded the Wii U eShop titles as a result!

    All these people forgot: Shadow dragon is also on the wii u eshop. For like... 6 US dollars. I HIGHLY recommend this game as your first or second game in the series, after awakening or Fire Emblem (7). This is because of 11's simple nature and easy to learn system. It also has good writing and many quality of life improvements to the series, like skipping enemy phases, and turning off animations at the press of the L button. Don't let these elitist artsy guys fool you with "shadow dragon sucks because muh support conversations and rescue mehh", because that doesn't stop shadow dragon from being a good game. What does stop it from being enjoyable, however, is waiting to play it. Playing it as your first or second, or even third fe game is an excellent choice. After your third? You may not like it as much.

    I would disagree about Fates as a good starting point (with the caveat that I think you can start with any game in the series, as long as you know what you're getting into), even Birthright. Also, I'd put Path of Radiance on the list as a strong starting point, since it has a strong (and optional!) tutorial, and a pretty average difficulty level for the series.
    The only game I would absolutely not recommend starting with is Radiant Dawn, since it's a direct sequel to Path of Radiance and you're likely to get very lost (not to mention the super high difficulty), but if Radiant Dawn is the game you're eyeing the most, play through Path of Radiance first. You won't regret it :)
    Also, side note, why do we call the remakes numbered entries? I get 3, since it's a remake of 1 plus a sequel, but the DS games and Shadows of Valentia? They shouldn't be numbered entries in the series. That makes no sense. No one considers the Zelda or FF remakes as numbered entries in the main series, but alternate versions of the games they're remaking. I really hope people can stop using numbers for the remakes, as it doesn't make sense. (Also, that would make the upcoming FE for Switch the 13th game in the series which is fun XD)

    • @TadpoleSuperhero
      @TadpoleSuperhero 6 лет назад

      Despite my disagreements, I think this is a great video! I would have liked to see you go more in-depth, actually, especially for the Super Nintendo games, as those are very dense entries in the series.
      I'd like to see you do more series-wide videos like this, and see you do more analysis videos on individual games in general. You have an enjoyable voice to listen to, and I love your videos and you clearly have a love and strong knowledge of the series. Keep it up!

    • @lucky_crit
      @lucky_crit  6 лет назад +4

      Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah Idk, the numbering is easier to remember and refer to sometimes, I think. But if I remember correctly even Intelligent Systems has a difference in the way that they number the entries. I think it was BS Fire Emblem they counted for some reason, so they may not even think this numbering system is correct. I'm not gonna count BS FE though. I tried to keep each game short as I just wanted to do a basic rundown for newer players and not have it drag too long, but glad you enjoyed it anyway!

    I did notice you used some footage of the updated New Mystery of the Emblem patch, as well as including a link to the updated patch in the description, so I would like to have a few words about the patch and the state of it because a large part of the purpose of the patch directly ties into the topic of the video.
    Now I do want to preface this by saying the state of English FE localizations in 2011 was rather threadbare. Barely any content from the Japanese FE games were localized, unless you had a direct sequel or prequel that was released in the west, meaning the only games that had a substantial baseline for official english localizations pre-awakening were Binding Blade and to a large extent New Mystery. However, as the video does somewhat allude to, New Mystery had much, much more additional content added to the game compared to the very faithful Shadow Dragon, and this meant a lot of content in New Mystery had no official localization or reference in English- not just the remake content, but also concepts exclusive to the Book II storyline of FE3 like for example the War of Shadows being the name for the events of Shadow Dragon, or characters like Sheena. Awakening however, and much later and on a much larger scale Fire Emblem Heroes, began to localize official content from the Japanese games that had not prior seen the light of day outside of Japan, introducing characters and giving them officially translated and localized names, like Lewyn from Genealogy of the Holy War or Gwendolyn from The Binding Blade; another example would be Clarisse's name being localized, or Katarina's original name being localized as Reese.
    So while this isn't really technically the fault of the original patch creators, it was made at a time prior to a lot of concepts being localized in Awakening, so the original patch had a slew of items and concepts that later returned in Awakening, Fates, and Echoes, but were given translations inconsistent with what Nintendo would localize them as in English, like the Barracks in Awakening or the Rainbow Tonic and other tonic items also in Awakening as well as Fates, and that's on the minor end of the spectrum; things on the major end of the spectrum include things like Marth's epithet of "The Lodestar" which comes out of nowhere in the English localizations, or the Archanean Falchion's epithet of "The Exalted Falchion" which is used in Fire Emblem Echoes and Fire Emblem Warriors, with Chrom's upgraded Falchion in Awakening having the same Japanese name as this epithet- these were all already translated in Shadow Dragon, but differently- for example, "Lodestar" was given the translation of "Star and Savior" in Shadow Dragon and "The Exalted Falchion" as "the divine blade Falchion", or perhaps most importantly the fact Ylisse is a holy kingdom like Archanea as a subtle way of drawing the connection between the two countries, but with the term being translated as "Holy Kingdom" in English and as "Halidom" in Awakening. This is more the fault of Nintendo of America and 8-4 for failing to consistently localize major concepts like these.
    However, all the same, the major purpose of the patch update is to reduce confusion on the part of English Fire Emblem fans, who would otherwise be confused by these inconsistencies and would turn off a lot of fans who wouldn't want to do 120+ hours of research on Fire Emblem wiki pages or other resources for simple translation issues. So the idea of the patch is to localize concepts to be consistent with both Awakening, Heroes, Echoes, as well as the other English Fire Emblem games when needed, since in both Awakening and Heroes (especially Heroes), it extends outright to literal quotes taken from the games in question- for example, Legion's Grand Hero Battle has him directly quote his speech at the start of Chapter 10x. So, the idea is anyone with no prior knowledge of FE would be able to play the updated patch, and then Heroes, and be able to get the reference Heroes is making to that specific speech by making it consistent between the games.
    And that sort of ties into new fans getting into the series, because the central idea of the patch is that players starting with Shadow Dragon, going onto Echoes, then playing this patch and then playing Awakening afterwords will fully be able to grasp the connections and references between the four games that are otherwise marred by 8-4's inconsistent translations between the 3 localized games among that group, without having to do in depth research, and just being able to see this by playing the games for themselves.This is especially important for FE12 because, unlike the other three major Japan only fire emblem games (Genealogy, Thracia, and Binding Blade), Awakening is a very direct (albeit chronologically distant) sequel to the events that transpire in New Mystery, with the storyline of Awakening hinging on concepts introduced in FE3 Book II and it's remake, FE12, with FE12 going as far as to retroactively introduce things like Naga's mark (which the Brand of the Exalt takes the shape of) to the series which would be central to Awakening shortly after.
    The patch is still in active development despite it being over half a year since the last update now, and Beta 3 is almost finished but there is difficulties involving some ingame graphics and other things that need to be changed holding back the release of Beta version 3. There is currently planned to be a fourth and final beta version, five at most as of writing. Beta 3 is a very, very large update compared to Beta 2, and is bringing the game much more in line with Shadow Dragon, Awakening, Echoes, and Heroes compared to it as well, as many updates have been implemented in the in progress Beta 3 in the half year it has been worked on.
    I do hope that clarifies some things about the updated FE12 patch and it's purpose, and hopefully the final product will be something worthwhile and will help newer english fans of the series more easily grasp Marth's storyline in relation to Chrom's.

    tfw you're waiting for genealogy and thracia 776 remakes alongside binding blade..I'm very happy to have gotten echoes shadows of Valentia back when it released! it's the gaiden the west never had! and for those who says the maps are bad..it's actually quite literally GAIDEN maps so it's more accurate to say the maps are Gaiden(and a faithful remake with the exception of the dragon's maw not trapping alm in act 4, but the dialogue form the villagers in zeke's village a telling alm's party to die to the necrodragons nd jedah to celica talking about alm's suffering deff makes me think the dragon's maw is still canon to the story like gaiden, just that it's offscreen and you don't get trapped despite being able to fight the necrodragons) I do feel like being faithful in remakes of FE games the west never had is..actually a good thing as the west never experienced some of the games japan has had and remaking the maps, while it would be a good thing, it'd perhaps not be a true experience of the specific FE game played as not having the same map..would honestly be a bit odd to be sure.
    oddly enough path of radiance does have a bit of a weak point: the fact that there's no hit/avoid/attack stat shown in battle and the fact that those stats ONLY show up on your turn when you're about to attack an enemy and not the enemy's turn when they attack you so it may be a bit difficult as this is the only game where the enemy actually has an advantage over your units due to not knowing how much damage you'll take or what you/the enemy's accuracy is like. por also potentially suffers from there being no battle saves(meaning you have to restart completely if someone dies or ike dies/you fail a condition) but it's still a very strong game regardless of these somewhat minor issues.
    thankfully Radiant Dawn has what was missing in por(the hit avoid and damage stats being shown in battle that por misses), yet radiant dawn's hard mode(maniac in jp) is..perhaps one of the more broken hard modes as the enemy ranges is permanently disabled and battle save is replaced with suspend(literally a worse battle save), so normal mode(hard mode in jp and respectfully so, the difficulty is just right and the missions fall in line with the story compared to easy/normal mode)
    aside from it's hard mode(for true maniacs!) RD is also an amazing game to be sure! the first time you see the Wrath+Astra combo is hilarious as you think you'd crit but only one of the two skills will work(wrath activating alongside astra deff makes the first in the series where it feels like astra could crit on each hit but it doesn't until awakening came)

    Thanks for this. Like so many I became intrigued about this series through its characters being in Smash (Roy was even my main in Melee) but for a variety of reasons I’ve still never gotten around to it. After all the praise Three Houses got and the advent of Engage having people hyped up now, I’ve recently been getting the itch to finally give it a go, but I wanted to do my research first to figure out the best title to start with. This video was great about being informative without overcomplicating things, and giving a clear idea of the major selling points that might make people interested in them. I’ve watched a fair handful of videos while I make up my mind on which game to get and this one was definitely the most useful to me on making up my mind.
    So again, thanks. 😊 And for the record, I’m thinking I’ll go with Awakening first. If I have a good time, on the bucket list I’ll have Three Houses and Engage on the newer side and Path Of Radiance, Echoes and Conquest on the older side. Cheers.

    I started with Awakening, then beat Shadow Dragon, started, but did not yet finish, Sacred Stones, played all of Fates, started but did not yet finish Fire Emblem 7, played through Echoes and finally finished Path of Radiance around New Year's after taking a break from it. My experience with the Fire Emblem series I remember was hearing about it and seeing copies of Shadow Dragon on store shelves while browsing. In 2011 I was in the hospital for a burst appendix and needed surgery. During that time there I got an opportunity to play a version of the Wii made for hospital patients with pre-installed games three of which I remembered playing were Mario Kart Wii, Wii sports, Twilight Princess and Radiant Dawn which I can recall playing the latter trying to play and skipping its cutscenes by accident by trying to pressing the wrong button.
    A few years later I was seeing ads for Awakening on the internet in the cover of my eyes which did not grabbed my interest at the time. After that I was seeing news on Fates (which its english title was still unannounced) while surfing Siliconera that also didn't grabbed me also. It wasn't until at my EB Games while looking at amiibo I saw a row of Marths (back when he was a part of the holy trinity) I managed to pick one up that when I start researching the series and getting into it. With that I been keeping up on news and updates on the next game Fates up to its release and plan on getting the special edition with its three paths on one cartage but unfortunately unable to get one.
    It wasn't till the next game Echoes I managed to get it's copy of the special edition when I finally get to play a Fire Emblem game completely for the first time. I was also looking at Warriors but I decided to skip it and now I'm waiting for the Switch game to be released.

The first I played was FE6 (it was kinda hard for me since I had no idea how supports worked, and since the game itself was difficult to an extent, or maybe I'm just a newbie in general), then moved on to 7, 8, 9, and currently, on 10 (I'm on Act 6). I started 11 briefly some time ago but I decided to halt it to focus on Tellius first.

    It's unfortunate you didn't mention Tokyo Mirage Sessions, but perfectly understandable considering how much it deviates from the Fire Emblem norm. Speaking as someone who's familiar with most of the games I think you did well with this video! I'm wondering if a small plot synopsis for each game may have helped more as well in case people choose based on story preferences, but I like that there were no plot spoilers in this video. Great job!

    My first FE was Fe7, the character art was great and the animations have each class identity, overall I had fun and still love all the games I've played.

    Got interested into the franchise after seeing commercials and battling through all of FE: Fates, watched videos of Awakening, played through Echoes, and currently am still trying to beat Warriors( if that counts as an official Fire Emblem game).

    Fire Emblem Heroes was my 1st FE experience, and I'm really glad I took the chance with it. All the characters looked really cool and interesting to a total NOOB like me - it was a really good starting point for me.
    My 1st proper game in the series was Fire Emblem Awakening - and I loved it! The characters, the art style, the music - everything was REALLY GOOD and it was a great starting point in the main series for me. Chrom is one of my favourite FE characters, and Awakening now has a special place in my games collection.
    I'm currently playing through Fire Emblem Warriors on the 3DS (LOVING IT, BTW), with Birthright, Echoes and "Fire Emblem" (GBA) waiting in the wings.
    I'm SO GLAD I took the leap with Fire Emblem, as I now have another JRPG franchise to love and lose myself in. ❤❤
    (P.S. - Sorry for rambling on. I'm just really glad I found Fire Emblem.)

    Path of Radiance was my first but Radiant Dawn will always be my favorite even with how difficult it was. I loved having a 3rd tier for my character classes and how invested you already were in the characters from the previous game.

    I started the series with Awakening after playing Robin in Smash Wii U for a while. Just wanted to play the origin game since the character looked so interesting and appealing to me. After that, I got Blazing Blade on the Wii U Eshop since I thought I should try out another game in the series since I enjoyed awakening so much, also because Lyn was an assist trophy in Smash and learning about her was nice. Later emulated Binding Blade to learn about Roy, and even bought Sacred Stones on Wii U Eshop as well. Got all versions of Fates when that released and Warriors on Switch now too.

    I got into the series with Birthright and Conquest after watching Caz' review on these two games (his reviews on these games are probably one of my favorite FE reviews by the way). I also heard a lot of good things about the older entries in the series, so I was excited for FE Echoes when it was first revealed. I finally played it recently, and it was definitely worth the purchase. I think I'd rather wait for FE 16 before deciding which older FE games I want to pick.

      Echoes is a very direct sequel to Shadow Dragon, with Act 1's start taking place mere days afterword and with Act 6's ending taking place a few weeks before New Mystery of the Emblem, so I would play both of the other DS games if you already played Echoes along with replaying Echoes as they form a precise trilogy storyline with Echoes adding many elements plotwise that weren't in the original gaiden to emphasize and reinforce the connection to Shadow Dragon and New Mystery (aka 11 and 12)
      Essentially, I would strongly advise playing Shadow Dragon, replaying Echoes, and then playing the most up to date fan translation of New Mystery in order to get the entire storyline of that trilogy of games

    I was first introduced to Fire Emblem from Super Smash Bros Brawl, I saw Marth and Ike but I never really thought to look more into them.
    Then I officially started with Fates.
    Didn’t leave a horrible taste in my mouth,
    Until I played awakening.
    Then my brother bought me fire emblem echoes, I didn’t actually know it had released at the time, and I swear it’s my favorite.

    I started with Fire Emblem 7, I was lucky enough to have my mother choose that one kind of at random for a Christmas present. Since then, I've been lucky enough to get all of the FE games released in the west. I feel bad for people who weren't able to get Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. But I own every one released in the west, and even though Fates was disappointing, I'll continue to support and love FE! Just hopefully they don't overly sexualize the series any more than they already have **cough** Tharja **cough** Camilla ** cough cough** Great content, love your videos!

    I still remember Path of Radiance randomly caught my eye at a Target in 5th or 6th grade and I asked my mom to get it as a present. I kept on seeing it in Target and thinking it was cool but by the time I got it I’d forgotten the name but when I saw it I got extremely excited. Ended up playing it off and on (often secretly in the middle of the night) before getting stuck on day breaks (due to the bad leveling decisions of a 5th/6th grader) for so long I kinda just gave up (my attempts at reading guides only managed to spoil most of the rest of the game instead of getting me through), I was definitely a fan by then though. When Radiant Dawn came out I got it immediately, planning to restart Path of Radiance and then play through Radiant Dawn. For some reason though (probably the accidental spoilers) I just went ahead and played Radiant Dawn and it immediately (and so far permanently) became my all time favorite game. Since then I got around to playing through Path of Radiance and much of the rest of the series and it’s pretty much my favorite thing (classic fantasy, anime, strategy rpg, pretty much my three favorite things).

    I love Fire Emblem! I hope more people can get into the game without the harsh judgment of bad fans and just pick whichever game they want.
    I started with Radiant Dawn back in the day but didn't pick the series back up until Awakening. Then Fates came along and cemented my love for the series. Fire Emblem heroes has done a lot for me as it introduced me to SO MANY other great characters from the whole series.
    Heroes is also such a great starting point in general, I think.

    Not to be the "you're wrong" guy, but the magic triangle was first implemented in Genealogy of the Holy War, not FE7, including the anima triangle of Thunder beats Fire beats Wind beats Thunder.
    It's admittedly not as pronounced as the normal weapon triangle so it's natural to miss it.
