Hercules is the thirty-fifth full-length animated feature film and the 8th entry of the Disney Renaissance. It is produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures on June 27, 1997. The thirty-fifth animated feature in the Disney animated features canon, the film was directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. The movie is an American fantasy tale very loosely based on Ancient Greco-Roman mythology, more specifically the adventures of Heracles (known in the movie by his Roman name, Hercules), the son of Zeus.
Though Hercules did not match its predecessors such as Aladdin and The Lion King (even receiving an overwhelmingly negative reception in Greece, where the myth originated), it got positive reviews and earned $252,712,101 in the box office. While not a flop, it is nonetheless looked upon by the Disney company as a disappointment.
This was the movie that helped Ron Clements & John Musker's underrated masterpiece, Treasure Planet, get approved and made, which was the sole reason why both Ron & John even directed Hercules in the first place.

I didn't see this episode of movie surfers on TV because Disney Channel was still premium at the time and it wouldn't be until the next year when Disney Channel finally became part of basic cable.
I’m almost 31 and no wonder! This is the first time I’m seeing this episode! If DC wasn’t so premium I would have been proud to grow up with this generation before High School Musical, Hannah Montana, Suite Life, Raven etc. I liked them but no offense

I know that a lot of characters are made to resemble their voices but wow on Hades… His VA is realistically close enough in appearance to him… 😯

I feel like I didn’t even know the Internet was a thing until like the year 2000. Kinda mind blowing that people were heavily on it before then, to the extent that they would use it as a set up to this video.

Ever since this movie released and James Woods moved on doing other movies (namely Vampires in 1998) or shows years later, it's like anyone will associate his Hades persona with his other characters.
James Woods voicing Hades is so GREAT, giving some comedy when he plays the bad guy

Like Phillium Benedict in Recess School's Out or the Falcon in Stuart Little 2? Well before he did Hades, James Woods was Joseph Scott in Chaplin; he was also in Salvador, The Way We Were, True Believer, The Hard Way and more!
@@hamursh Phillium Benedict still comes to mind as well back in 2001. Both are pretty hot-headed characters.
@@lucitum.world1998 His voice role as Hades has been often compared to the improv Robin Williams did as the Genie since they just follow the script, but constantly ad-lib it with their quick-wittedness.

I’m almost 31 and yet I never seen this episode until now! Hercules is one of three Disney animated features from the 90’s I consider myself a fan of. The other two are Aladdin and Mulan! I hate to sound unpopular!

CGI- it's going way too out of hand now, bring up hand animation any day, please.
I'm a film maker and I plan on making a bunch of traditionally animated movies (as well as live-action), CGI is such an over crowded market, so why not have films that truly celebrate the artistry of drawings? Not to take anything away from Pixar or Disney, though.
Cuphead might be your thing, if you look for the original animating. It's a game, but still pretty unique being hand drawn

I think she should be. Zeus is the king of the gods, Hercules is his son, and Meg becomes his wife. Which should make her a princess

Hades is the best character in the movie, James Woods did an outstanding job voicing him and he is one of the many characters supervised by longtime animator Nik Rainieri.
I wish Disney would make a sequel (and I wish I could be part of it maybe ) but who knows but still this is movie is gold

movie has traits of cats don't dance, superman the animated series, anastasia don bluth, rocky, and space jam combined with greek mythos.
