Cliff was so beautifully creative. He had a sound that was proggy, classical, and psychedelic. Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets wouldn't be close to the masterpieces they are without this mans contributions.
Unbelievable…this guy was so ahead of his time. He basically was the Eddie Van Halen of the bass. He revolutionized the instrument and changed it forever…🖤
The best comment in here. Why has no one else looked into this? Did cliff come up with songs that Metallica used long after his death? If so what other songs could have some sort of cliff influence?
@@BassPlayerCayden2009 I KNOW! It’s extremely mysterious with no direct explanation. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kirk wrote that part in Fixxxer, since he was heavily involved with the Load project.
Not really, he had the bells riff way before this. Look up Easy Street Cliff Burton. Some sort of small talent show like gig from maybe 1980 and it’s in there. Pretty cool.
@@jamesb95 this is actually before that video. That video was actually THIS band (Jim, Cliff and Dave) and they decided to mash all their jams into a fifteen minute segment to fuck with people. On the first Maxwell cd you pretty much hear Cliff coming up with FWTBT live.
Sounds kinda like a much more melodic early Throbbing Gristle. Very cool stuff. Totally unique. I've tried to imagine what direction Metallica might have gone in during the 90's if Cliff never died, and I think this tape offers the best insight to what could have been. Edit: you can even hear where Lars got the drum sound for St. Anger at 12:34
I have the Maxwell 346 and Maxwell I discs. I know I have the maxwell II somewhere, just need to find it. These are awesome to smoke a doobie and listen to
2021 and im just now hearing this after being a huge fan of metallica all my life and im 31. Thank you pancakes major rajor on the 4 string you have been an inspiration for a long time.
Ahhh, the psychedelic stuff we never got! It would have been sweet if Cliff, Jim and Mike Bordin (yes, I'm aware he's not in this mix, according to the credits) made just ONE album together and put it to market.
My cousin and I would do the same thing as this just lock ourselves in a room and trip out some psychedelic riffs and sounds and beats and was totally unaware that Cliff and some his cohorts kinda did the same thing. I understand Cliff was a fan of the Floyd sound as well so this venture makes total sense.
if tiy are a musicians i know you do, and even if not I suspect you know how much it would mean to me to get a copy,, i play because of a bootleg recording of tallica with cliff i heard trippin acid when i was 17....
In the French magazine “Enfer Magazine” (#26, July 1985), the members of Metallica were asked to give their current playlist at the time. Cliff mentioned Misfits, Blue Öster Cult, GBH, Lynyrd Skynyrd among others, and eventually… Maxwell Tapes: “A.D 2,000,000”. I doubt anyone in France and probably very few people in the USA could have guessed what the Maxwell Tapes were back then. :) Anyway, “A.D 2,000,000”, whatever it is, isn’t listed here. Any clue, Metallica scholars?
Listening to raw stuff is really inspiring. On those metallica deluxe boxsets my favorite is parts are the riff tapes and early wting in progress stuff.

This is the creepy sound of the pack that made cliff with dark forces in this isolated farm of faith no more guitarist and hearing in his dark danzig chains , because he wanted to chains all of us the innocent and stupid fans to bow in front of him to his supposed talend, only to make him more money and fame. Now the mutilation soul knows what he did to him and to us, hear that unfull noise for iternity chains at that walls.

Does anybody here know where the Maxwell Ranch is?
I'm not sure about the exact location but apparently, Cliff's ashes were spread there. Try to Google it.
@Daniel Treadwell Do you know the exactly place?
Have you guys found out where it’s located
it’s private property
@@ikon4255 Thanks for the info. I found a place in the Grasslands Regional Park. Could it be that one?
Wonder if Cliff liked Pink Floyd or Hawkwind?
He did like Pink Floyd

why was rotgrub taken down??

Shit I was hoping to get some info about the location of the maxwell ranch here but nonetheless, good content!
It's in Solano County, California, North of where Cliff grew up. East of San Francisco, not super far from Sacramento.
