Acrylic Nail Powder and Resin - Can You Guess What Happens?
Warning: Important Health and Safety Notice:
Resin is an industrial chemical and as such should always be treated with respect and the manufacturers safety advice taken. Here is a video I have made on how I keep myself safe: • Stop Making Yourself I...
Omg I love the bracelet how cute and I love the spinner
I have so much fun with that lizard mold!
Steve, the acrylic monomer is highly flammable.
Loved the lizard! ❤ Thank you. 😊
was wondering if anyone had tried incorporating acrylic powder into resin crafting; google gave me my answer! thanks for this!
Awesome Video steve McDonald

Boy the new ideas for resin are popping up everywhere! This is brilliant and I can't wait to try it!!! Thanks as always Steve ❤
This is great. I love this. Thanks for sharing
This seems like a good alternative for uv resin for making details in opaque molds
Thanks!
I love how creative you are with new products :) You're so clever! Nail acrylic really does seem like a great material for custom cabochons like that.
Just call the flower pendant you didn’t like an evil eye pendant. Ta-da! No mistakes. 😊
WOW, I would never have thought to use acrylic nail...stuff...whatever it's called! A monomer? The lizard turned out great!
Love the flower...looks like it's embedded into amber. Your initial "tag" turned out great! 😍😊👍
My list of things to try is getting huge. ❤ these little flowers. The lizard came out cool. JDiction has become my favorite resin.
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts Hahaha. No worries. Live on a mountain alone so have plenty of time to try different things. Only thing that keeps me occupied besides the dog is the bears that visit almost daily.
My mum has done acrylic nails for years and years… she owns a beauty salon and does both hair and nails… I can definitely attest to the horrid smell of that acrylic nail dust and liquid!!! It burns my eyes and singes my nose hairs!!!
I love how you have used it!
That is awesome, I need to try it.
Pretty cool idea. Thank you for sharing. I hope you have a blessed week.
Wow, so amazing! Thanks for sharing - I hardly know what new thing to try next!!
Cool video Steve xxx
I can’t believe this I was just looking at some great mail powder colors and wondered if they worked
I don't recommend using a heat gun on it. I have used the monomer for nails for 30yrs.
As always, another great project. Beautiful lizard, lovely pendants. Thank you Steve!
Acrylic is great in molds! I make little decorations for nails. Just make sure you seal it if you use it on the exposed surface because it can absorb stuff (I've accidentally dyed some on my nails when washing my colored hair).
Also you are a creative genius and I adore all your videos!
That is awesome. Thank you for sharing all your adventures in creating
Love all you've made, especially the jewelry. The colors are gorgeous, and I really like that the flowers aren't completely immersed in resin just beautiful ♥️ thanks for sharing another great video Steve hugs from Québec Canada 🫂🙂
Makes sense, OPI started out as a dental acrylic prosthetics manufacturer so it's all basically the same stuff, right?
Eta: I love how much you love glitter ✨💖✨
Hi Steve, Thanks for sharing a really cool video 🙂❤️👍
I got a few bookmarks, that we're bendy, I bent them and made them into suncatchers I had a coaster that I put over another thing was that was slightly smaller and molded it and then put UV resin over the top,, then I flipped it over, and put rosin on the inside, and then while I I had a little trinket dish
Steve John McDonald thank you so kindly for sharing your wonderful talent and videos with us all. I have this nail powder and thanks to you now I know how to use it in resin. ❤❤Take great care and keep creating and smiling xoxo ❤
❤❤❤
Steve instead of monomer try using Alcohol it's better plus use your uv light oh maybe the microbrushes would be good to use for the small spaces! Keep up the Great Work !!
So clever! Thanks Steve 🌸
That's pretty cool! I've never seen that before. Everything turned out really pretty!
This is so cool!! Thanks Steve!
I’m looking forward to incorporating this technique SOON I have monomer and acrylic powder and micas so I can mix the colors I love with just clear acrylic powder 🙌
Oh my gosh, thats brilliant!! I’ve done my own nails so have everything, how did no one think of this sooner!?!? Again, BRILLIANT!
I’ve worked in salons for over 30 yrs. I hope you don’t mind me giving a helpful tip. Buy a cheap acrylic nail brush. Dip ur brush in the liquid and really get it soaked. Drag ur brush into the powder. It should form a wet ball. Then place ur acrylic in the mold! Most nail powders are self leveling but the product has to be very wet. 😋
❤
Acrylic nails will catch on fire (don't ask me how I know that 😅) so I would be careful with any flame around it once mixed and prior to being covered in resin. Those pendants were beautiful. I love this idea.
Hmmm.. I tested this out. You have to use almost half of one little bottle of powder to make a single little accent. Now, that's the method used for nails. This painting with the powder idea could have amazing possibilities.
But I like how the acrylic sits in spaces
I wonder if it would work if we were to use a skin of the nail mixture on a resin shaker?
Not exactly related to this video but I was wondering of you'd ever done an experiment with a smeller/moderate amount of chameleon powders and a translucent colorant? Since we don't know what colors we'll see with the powder, your colorblindness could be an asset! Haha ❤ love your videos!
I'm a bit ill right now or I'd hop to it. I am a fan of FAAFO ❤
Have you tried just mixing the acrylic powder with just resin?
Steve could you please tell me where do you get the bails for those pendants? I cannot find ones big enough for them. Also what size are they?? Please help, I would greatly appreciate it.❤
Please, may you tell me how those metal thinks (for jewlerys' chain) called, to looking for? And, maybe, were can I find them? Thank you from Greece...
I want to do the powder straight in the resin! Will that work
♥️✌️👍🇬🇧
Please can someone help me! I’ve made some resin coasters (for the first time)
They’ve been curing since Sunday evening, and they’re still bendy 😞
I’ve made a few other bits from the same batch, and they’re rock hard.
How long do I leave my coasters before I declare them a failure? And can I do anything with bendy resin?
Hope someone can help 🙏🏻
I’m new to resin so please any tips or help much appreciated 😊
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts Thank you Steve! They look good! Just not solid. I’ll try again 😊 I really appreciate your reply thank you. I’m a new subscriber and really enjoy your videos. I will be as good as you one day 😬🤞🏻
One time when I had soft and bendy bookmarks, I just folded them over and made suncatchers out of them, using some beads. I also made bendy coasters and molded them over a smaller bowl, and then covered them with UV resin hard and it, flipped it wasn't it again with UV, and I had a little
Trinket dish
@@nooksandfrannies thanks so much for your suggestions. 😊
Logical fallacies... a seriously important topic not given near enough attention in schools!
Tried this 10 years ago with nail powder acrylic. Now that was stinky. Wasn't worth it
Make up your own name of the colours
I got my daughter professional nail stuff, to do a nail salon.. I agree IT STINKS lol. I love this steve, you do such lovely work my friend! To those reading these comments, he has such great ideas, and group is fun. Everolyone is like a family. It's so worth joining!
