I have been listening to Michael Singer for a few years. I really appreciate his teachings. You are not your thoughts nor body. You are the consciousness that observes them. I noticed that this explains the out of body experiences people have. They all said that they saw their own bodies laying there, and all they felt was a tremendous amount of love. That, to me, you became one with the consciousness, similar to what Micky says. Then I wonder what is happening with persons with Altzheimer or dementia. The consciousness is in them and watching their bodies and/or mental capacity "decline" then.....
Thank you for asking this thought provoking question, Trish. It caused me to do some deep reflection this morning. Micheal "Mickey" Singer has books and tapes that I've listened to and continue to do so because I need constant reinforcement and reminding. I meditate and do my best to relax, release, let go, of the traumas/resentments I've stored. His teaching has helped me not to run from them or fight them but instead, to face watch, dissolve them. I've not worked his teachings by taking a "Program" like the one offered on SoundsTrue, but it probably couldn't hurt. There's as many ways to get spiritual as there are ways to get exercise. He may not resonate with you and if not, I'd be happy to provide a list of others that have helped me on my journey. It has taken years and I feel I'm still at the tip of the iceberg but it's been well worth it. The degree and frequency of things that bothered me has definitely decreased as well as my meaningless, self serving lifestyle. Be good!
to be honest the example of the rain is coming up a little too frequently...I love storms and lightning maybe it is just me not finding the weather not a preferred example for depression...by saying it I realise my preference is not important at all...I may let it through and decide if I can handle examples instead of allowing it to frustrate me
The example is important because some will resonate with you and some won't. Some that resonate now won't resonate in the future, and some that don't resonate now may resonate in the future. I think it's good to try and be more receptive to all examples and to try and see how they pertain to your life from multiple perspectives, but if it doesn't resonate then don't force it.
Absolutely it is a great reminder not to listen to the personal mind and to take each moment as it comes❤
I really enjoy these talks that focus on releasing all of the things that we’ve accumulated in the past. Extremely valuable advice! Thank you 😊
