      Fine mats known as taktakai and armea were everyday wear before the arrival of Europeans and adoption of European dress, the tofua worn in this video by the women is also precontect, was usually worn over an old taktakai or armea to kato'agas. An apei or large fine mat were sometimes worn at funerals by mourners

      @@NasinuWarrior85 Ofcoz we are all Fijians as a whole. Citizenship but when comes down to ethnicity, culture and language, its different as one Ethnic group ain’t the same Representation to another. That’s what make us proud as we have different histories and values. All we could do is be proud and respect others cultures. Cheers

      @@Seashepherd47 Its Rotuman traditional dance. Rotuman is an ethnicity of its own and stop confusing yourself with nationality. I wouldnt comment indo fijian culture when watching a itaukei meke and i wont confuse myself seeing indo fijians celebrating diwali and commenting its Fijian culture. Come on whats your problem with us rotumans being proud of our ethnicity and culture
      Arent you proud of your culture? or is it too boring to call for? or are you jealouse of Rotumans being proud Rotumans? i think i know.

      No they are not. THey are Rotumans from Rotuma. Some may have Tongan blood but all are Rotumans.

    • @tommyx6553
      @tommyx6553 4 года назад +3

      They are Rotumans with their own language and culture and not tongans etc. The mat does not make the person their ethnicity but makes them Proud Pacific islanders. Rotumans are polynesians and they look much alike like other polynesians around the pacific togther with their culture and language.

    • @tommyx6553
      @tommyx6553 4 года назад +5

      @Bill ray Rotuman culture is not Tongan or kaiviti. It's just Rotuman traditional dance in fiji. Fiji has indo fijians there as well, Itaukei etc with their own ethnicity and culture.
