    This remains the best video on JS8Call. There is so much detail and it is so well explained that it can be watched repeatedly and you will keep learning. There is no substition for someone who really knows the mode and the software inside out. It would be great to have videos like this for all the digital modes. Maybe the only criticism is the use of screen real estate. Not enough space is devoted to the JS8Call UI.

    This was a FANTASTIC explanatory video - one of the best I've found for JS8Call so far. Well worth the time.

    Thankyou guys for the GREATEST mode in Ham Radio that works anywhere, and allows "meshing" and other brilliant things!!! Also, ordinary QSO's are possible (unlike FT4). Absolutely AMAZING. David Hine G4DIG

    By the way, I like that the window of the program scales the sections to your screen resolution if you change it. It's the little things. 👍
    Way back in the days of HTML I made a few websites that'd do that using s.

    Now that we are well into the 21century, how about a love child between JS8 and PC-ALE? In the short term, can we get the logging feature closer to how WSJT-X works? (Semi-Automatic)

    What might be the ideal set up for JS8Call for use in this Weekend's Winter Field Day ? Particularly, where is the 'Expected' place to store & send the Exchange from; to avoid any lost time on each side. And, how to automatedly collect QSO Exchanges into a LOG

    Very good explanation and presentation. I thought there was an advantage to matching offset with the other station in a live QSO exchange. Am I mixing that up or is it not an issue in the newer versions?

      Started using JS8 3 or 4 weeks ago and loved it, ft8 is great but JS8 is more me. I prefer the human interaction and I regularly make 15,000km contacts using only 10w keep up the good work 73s VK2LAT

    I'd love to use this on my FT-991A . Unfortunately "CAT" is greyed out . I installed WSJT-x and it worked no problem. I closed WSJT-x and all other ham software, tried reopening JS8call and no love ...will no talk to the 991A , CAT is greyed out .

    Can JS8CALL be set up as a group of hams in a region that uses say 6 meters
    direct point to point messages that stores and forwarding as a mesh network does like a Florida data chat over rf. Seems very cool I dont want to depend on NVIS and propagation

    JS8Call is pretty cool, but man it is soooo slooooow.. it takes over a minute to send a sentence? I used to use FSQCall which is much faster, can send and receive images, and has "sounding" which is similar to the heartbeat feature.. I've been monitoring 40m FSQ freq (7104mHz) but no sigs there anymore. Pretty sure people suffer through the slowness of JS8Call just so they can be part of the whole FT8 crowd.

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  3 года назад

      I've seen FSQ on 2M but not 40M. I need to dive more into it.

      John, I wouldn’t worry about digital yet. There are use cases for tools like this, but there is still much to regular analog to keep you learning and entertained. There are many aspects/sides to amateur radio that I doubt you’ll have trouble find something that fits you.

      @@johnnettles8867 Satellite communicaktions should be the primary driver of you obtaining your license if that’s your goal. Get your Technician and General licenses, start with a good 2M/70cm rig, or even an HT like the Yaesu FT-3DR with a handheld Yagi antenna, and enjoy the satellite passes and trying to make those contacts. If you get the bug and want to move to HF, you can always add that to your hobby later. I got my license and really didn’t think much about digital, but that has changed once I learned more about the available modes and how to use them. I still rag chew across the bands as well. I think it’s the best of both worlds. 73, AE0IT

      John, I get what you are saying; but time marches on. I remember when the same thing was said of PSK! Ha! I'm 72, and a CW man all my life. I'm pretty openminded to any AND all of ham radio stuff, and of course digital is here to stay. However, I can pound the brass @30wpm with the ol' guys on the lower end of 40 also... For me digital is ADDING to the fun of ham radio, and I LOVE FT8 and JS8Call just adds to my fun. But I do keep my Bencher Iambic paddle in use quiet often too. There is room for both. Enjoy and 73
